Went on a weeknight around 7pm. Place was quite empty and was seated quite quickly. None of the workers seem to be actually Korean, but that's not a problem. The decor seems pretty contemporary with wooden tables and chairs, and brightly lit. The way you order is just jotting down your dish number on a slip and handing it over to the wait staff. We ordered the Jja-jang-myun and Jjam-ppong, two staples of "korean-chinese cuisine" that's very popular in Korea. Perhaps the dishes are more catered and altered to local tastes, but as Koreans, we were a bit disappointed. The jja-jang-myun had a similar quality as the refrigerator packs you buy at the korean supermarket, you know those "pummone" packs where you need to boil the noodles and the aluminum sauce packet in boiling water. Not bad tasting, but we expected something of higher quality at a sit down restaurant. The jjam-ppong was unfortunately more disappointing... it was essentially a stew with a lot of chopped chinese cabbage in spicy soup. Not really much other ingredients. I perhaps found maybe 3 pieces of seafood in what is supposed to be a seafood stew. Definitely not proper to Korean standards... at all. Paid about $175 for the meal for two including drinks.
Perhaps we just caught the chef on a bad day, or maybe these two dishes aren't very popular or ordered very often... but we left the restaurant without a great experience. With all the new trendy korean restaurants popping up in TST, we probably won't be back to Hansung for a while....
