Treating teenagers to dinner can be a dangerous proposition, but buffet is always a good bet. Having been through countless buffets, I wasn't really expecting any gourmet dinner (at this budget), but was just hoping for decent food for my young friends (and older friends too).
The restaurant, just like the hotel, was recently refurbished and looked comparable to other 4-star hotel restaurants. The place was quite small and at first glance, there didn't seem to be a lot of varieties on display. Turned out they had a good selection from starters to hot dishes to desserts.
The salad was fresh, as was the seafood. My young friends assured me the sushi(!) was delicious with a capital "D". As I had a dinner to attend after this buffet dinner - yes, I really did - I only sampled a few dishes:
Lamb chop was tender, not over-done, well-flavoured.
chicken curry was tasty though couldn't find a lot of chicken.
roast beef received a thumbs-up all round.
fish ball noodles in pork bone broth was good, but I was told that the laksa soup base was watery.
crepe was made on request, good stuff, but I made my own version with bits and pieces from different tables: lemon pieces from the salmon counter, butter from the bread basket, sugar from the dining table
Judging from the amount of desserts consumed by the girls, I would say that dessert was the highlight. I didn't try the chocolate fountain, I just like the look of it!
At $218 per person without service charge, this is really hard to beat. Definitely worth a try.
