Enjoyed a very pleasant dinner here on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was not full, so the ambiance was quiet. Staff was attentive and helpful. The food was delicious; we haduck Pate with cornichons (rich and flavorful)Snails on a bed of mashed potatoes (the parsley-and-butter sauce was excellent, on the potatoes)Duck Breast with dark cherry sauce (loved the sauce which was drizzled on. Could have used another spoonful, in fact, as the meat portion was substantial)Risotto with parmes
Duck Pate with cornichons (rich and flavorful)
Snails on a bed of mashed potatoes (the parsley-and-butter sauce was excellent, on the potatoes)
Duck Breast with dark cherry sauce (loved the sauce which was drizzled on. Could have used another spoonful, in fact, as the meat portion was substantial)
Risotto with parmesan sauce (a fine version of this dish, properly made, with arborio rice slightly hard and plenty of cheese giving it the right nutty flavor).
But the unique aspect of the restaurant is its wine list......it offers a very broad range of wines by the glass, and we took advantage of that, sampling a dry riesling, a viognier, and a lovely rich st. emilion. This place is recommended for people who like to sample wines with excellent food!
Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert. :-( Next time......
The prices were not down in the bargain basement: first courses around $120, pastas $150 and meat main courses around $250. But the value-for-money equation is quite favorable.
