From the reviews and videos we’ve watched (e.g. 大J, Alfred), it seems as though you needed to queue up for a long time, so we chose to eat at a later time to try avoid the queue. Apparently in Japan it’s known for being cheap/worth it’s value, so I was surprised to find out that it’s a ‘quality luxury sushi restaurant’ in HK. Since this sushi place is relatively expensive compared to the usual that we eat, we did our research to find out why it’s so pricey.


Turns out, the menu was designed by a 3-star Michelin chef (though I don’t really think it should add such a big difference to the price), and all the fish are delivered daily directly from Japan. They also use this expensive kind of soy sauce that has apparently been brewed for 30 years which bumps up the price.


Now onto the food review:

Rice: Well seasoned and had a mild taste of vinegar, but did not deter from the dining experience. It was not mushed together and added good texture overall


1. 炙燒大拖羅佐柚子醋果凍 ($60)
Taste: 7.5/10
CP值:7/10
We ordered this after seeing how much 大J recommended it. The tuna was very fresh and soft, and the fish oil taste was much stronger after being seared. However, I do think a large of the great taste attributed to the 柚子醋果凍. Without it, it would still have been good tuna, but not as worth it compared to the other sushis.

2. 吞拿魚中拖羅 ($43)
Taste: 8/10
CP值: 8/10

The slice was thick, and the sashimi was so so soft. There was a very strong tuna taste, but the fish taste was not overwhelming. Simply put, the texture was like a cloud. Very reasonably priced for such a fresh slice of thick tuna. I preferred this over no.1, but my friend liked no.1 over this one. It really comes down to personal preference to if you like a stronger ‘fish’ tuna taste or not. No.2 has a stronger tuna smell and taste.

3. 鰤魚腩 ($28)
Taste: 9/10
CP值: 10/10

I would come back again here just for this! This was amazing, and best worth its value in our opinion. It was soft like butter, and very fresh and light. The taste was very powerful yet less strong than tuna - the flavour is much more mellow and is a delight to eat. If you don’t like the ‘sea’ taste in fish, this is the one for you!

4. 炙燒黑喉魚佐醋橘鹽($55)
Taste: 9.5/10
CP值: 9/10

This one we ordered after asking the staff for recommendations. It was probably our favourite piece of the meal. After drizzling a little bit of lime juice on it, the burst of flavours was just unbelievable. From the oils of the fish, the saltiness from the 醋橘鹽, the mild acidity from the lime, when put together, it just tasted amazing! LOVE LOVE LOVE this sushi!

5. 海膽壽司($55)
Taste: 9/10
CP值: 9/10

Sweet and refreshing, and without those chemical tastes typical of cheap sea urchin. The sea urchin portion was actually surprisingly big, and worth its price. However, this review is coming from someone who really loves sea urchin, so this might not be for you if you’re not a fan of it.

6. 炙燒平目魚背($38)
Taste: 6/10
CP值: 5/10

Good, but nothing special or spectacular. Searing the fish really brought out the oils and flavours and made it aromatic, but don’t expect a soft piece of sashimi. Texture was varied, with areas of softness and lines of tenderness.

7. 針魚壽司($55)
Taste: 5/10
CP值: 5/10
Crisp and fresh, but with a very unique texture. It’s not soft like other sashimi, rather, it reminds me a bit like squid. You can tell how fresh it is by how clear and transparent it is, as seen in the photos. There’s no residual fishy aftertaste. This one was the most chewy of all sushis we tried, and I think it’d down to personal preference if you like this or not. Worth a try since you’re unlikely to find this in lower-end sushi stores

Overall, worth a try if you’re looking to splurge on higher end good quality sushi. Classy atmosphere with good service (contrary to what many other reviews say).
