Last night originally booked Tsimshatsui Tao Heung then I remember something to buy at Shamshuipo so went to this restaurant instead. I ordered a Lobster and half piece 沙姜雞 then want to add a vegetable dish with some meat. There were few dishes of vegetable and seems only one with meat on that one-color menu card so I asked for their big menu from one black suit. She said only 10% food there are available for order. I did not believe and picked one basic vegetable with chicken and she said the d
The half piece 沙姜雞 came first, Size is very reasonable, taste not particularly attractive perhaps not enough 沙姜 mixed.
Then came the lobster in halves, it was long with the long hands, we were not given new dishes to hold until we asked then came the same small dishes used to hold bones. For long lobster I think Tao Heung management should teach their service people to provide bigger dishes, also provide fork and knife; they did provide a fork and clip, but I had to use finger with fork to get the meat out.
The vegetable soup is quite okay and served its purpose.
When asked for the bill, I was told to bring the card downstairs and pay there, haha no service on payment now as in their 客家好棧? When checked the bill down there I found the vegetable soup was charged $58 instead of $38 ($58 seems the crossed out regular price). As I did not read details on that menu paper (they asked to pay yourselves perhaps they also run same system as in Shenzhen Tao Heung now that you have to get and fill a prepay card that I do not intend to bother to get certain special prices) and I was downstairs not close to a menu paper to verify and too much trouble to spoil me and friend's mood over $20 as anyhow the bill $202 is good price for what we had, so I paid, even forgetting to pay by my credit card. I want to remind Tao Heung management that, if it’s the same payment system as in Shenzhen for refill card at least in Shenzhen they allow you to pay cash or credit card at the table or pay at cashier as you prefer but here they just asked you to pay downstairs, perhaps the waiters should explain to customer that we have the choice to pay at the table or downstairs? Is it only Shamshuipo Tao Heung offering this kind of “pay at cashier” or all Tao Heung’s now? Not the last 2 times I had, one just less than 2 weeks ago. Here I just want to remind people going to this restaurant not to expect good service and dishes on the big menu, also beware of small prints and the bill on the reduced price special menu paper. Of course I hope Tao Heung will reply at least the payment system issue I raised above.
