I did not have the usual Thai Black Glutinous Rice with Mango in Coconut Juice but opted for something more traditional - the Sweet Ball & Sesame Soup & Walnut Soup. It took a while as the 'sweet balls' was cooked only when orders were placed.

What i got looked quite different from the photo on the menu - the sweet balls had sunk to the bottom of the bowl and the mix of walnut/sesame soup was a little irregular in shape....anyway. I first tried the walnut soup and it lacked the aroma of the nut. It was indeed disappointing. It was quite thin in texture and tasted sweet in a strange way. The sesame soup was also so-so as it was also pretty thin and fake in taste.

As for the 3 sweet balls in the soup, they were quite huge but the wrap was really thick, despite being not very sticky. Sesame filling could be found and it tasted okay, not too oilish but again, it lacked the aroma of the freshly prepared, 'homey' kind of thing. I would not be surprised if you tell me that the sweet balls were machine-made.

If Moon Kee was supposed to be a place for the customers to be satisfied -'moon juke', it could NOT do the job as i was not satisfied with the sweet soup i got. It might be a convenient place for a quick Chinese dessert after dinner, and it might be good enough for tourists; but what it serves are definitely NOT the best you can get in Hong Kong. I'd rather walk a longer distance to a better dessert place than to waste my dessert quota on this mediocre 'sweet ball' I got.
