It has been rainy the whole week. With the sun is out today, my friend and I travel all the way to Stanley for our afternoon in the summer holiday.Stanley is really a chill place for all age, appropriate for couples for a romantic day out/ elderly to have a leisure walk/ kids to have a crazy fun day.Our journey begins in this newly opened cafe. Stanley is really a chill place for all age, appropriate for couples for a romantic day out/ elderly to have a leisure walk/ kids to have a crazy fun day.
Our journey begins in this newly opened cafe. Look at the stripy sun shades, they give us an European style with its fans on the ceiling. Expect a long queue, we arrived at 2pm, waited for about half an hour. Some parts are exposed in the sun, so we are all sweaty ( I saw the restaurant served bomba samples for people who are waiting in the queue).
Focaccia $68
It’s well made as it gets a crunchy exterior and a moist, soft, and airy interior. You can see many holes when you bite it open! The bread is perfect so any ham/ salami/ cheese will go well with it!
Truffle Egg Croissant $128
This simple croissant took 40mins to reach my table. J was told that many people ordered hot dishes at the restaurant, that’s why orders take longer than usual. My friend had already finished her focaccia before my order arrived. I would say it took way too long to cook scrambled egg?
The truffle amount is generous but I like bigger pieces and the dish is fragrant with truffle smell! The cheesy truffle egg
matches with the airy, buttery, flaky croissant!
Looking at the bakery cakes section, it is tempting to order desserts after our “main” because all the cakes are so well made and beautiful and sure our second stomach can still accommodate sweet things.
Dacquoise Strawberry Pistachio $58
The dacquoise is like a meringue but made with almond and hazelnut. The texture is quite special because it’s light and slightly crunchy! Taking up the pistachio pastry cream and combining the sweetness from the strawberries, yummmm!
Mango Tart $58
Look at the perfect even layers inside the tart, one layer of custard and one layer of mango puree, its absolutely on point! It’s quite sweet for me though!
We came to try this restaurant because we went to the other restaurant under the Pirata restaurant group but we had a very unpleasant experience from the rude service of the manager we believe…
The manager told us so rudely “You dont have to ask different people for the same question” when I tried to clarify with a voucher’s terms for the second time with the waitress who served us after I went back to the table read the terms. On the other hand, the lady who is at her first day at work tried her very best to help us, talked to us in such a friendly manner, checked on our orders, gave us more water etc.
Never get treated so rudely in a restaurant! I was pissed and so disappointed!
