春除了雨外,幾乎都不再在這城巿留下什麼足跡。天氣悶熱,友人與我在銅鑼灣找用餐地時,為了避雨就走進了這間餐廳。Spring has brought us an unpredictable weather in May. My friend and I decided to have dinner in Meat King to get cover from rain. This restaurant is famous for its Hamburg at a relatively low price. 時間尚早,疏疏落落的幾位客人悠閒地看着雨景,身於安穩看雨,總帶一絲人性的優越。
一進門的火爐為這間餐廳帶來了一種温暖和諧和,內裡裝潢讓燈光明亮,最好是座位間有了非常寛的間距。

晚餐只選沙律吧只是$98,其實對大部份女仕而言絕對足夠,那沙律和甜品,仍至湯和飲料亦好,也足以果腹而離。如果配上一個漢堡主菜,只需加$58,在銅鑼灣的地段來說,相當吸引。

The dinner started with a cheap and plentiful salad bar and unlimited drinks. It costs $98 for a buffet which features a wide range of vegetables with sauces, appetizers and desserts. Ladies can easily get full by that. It costs an addition of $58 only if a main course is served together.

我選了粟米湯而友人則要了雜菜湯。一如以往地,我就盛了一大盤凱撒沙律。蔬菜爽口而新鮮,醬料選擇又多,兩次的來回,幾已飽了一半。飲料除了汽水,還有蘋果汁和橙汁等,不好可樂一類亦無憂。

I took a corn soup and self-made caesar salad as a fresh start which awakened my taste buds. It is always a
good idea to start a meal with something green. The romaine lettuce was good, partnered with pieces of bread and raisins to give a different texture. In fact, apart from chicken and salmon, I thought anchovies are the best ingredients which perfectly matched with Caesar.

Smoke Salmon and Octopus Carpaccio $58
義式薄切煙三文魚八爪魚刺身
以此價錢這道頭盤可是相當令人滿意,八爪魚有着不俗的彈性配上煙過而有咸香的三文魚,點綴了酸甜醬汁。硬要說的話是那醬汁過於單薄而輕盈,少了一些層次,但也別太吹毛求庛就是了。
Dinner started with a combination of salmon and octopus that was served with lemon and onion. Everything seems to be on the right track but I thought the layer of taste is too thin and not bright enough.

Mussels Steamed in White Wine $58
白酒藍青口
這道青口就比想像中強差人意了點,有些過硬而份量少,雖說香港大部份都是冰鮮青口,但質量不佳引至的散爛仍有點失色。
The mussels were well-seasoned but lacked of nice bouncy texture. It was a little on the hard side and chewy. I have to say that they are not fresh enough. I wasn’t particularly happy with the quality of the mussels to be brutally honest. It wasn’t up to my expectation.

Onsen Egg Hamburg With Tartar Sauce (Large 280g) $188
温泉蛋他他汁漢堡扒 
不愧是招牌菜的漢堡,非常可口好吃,而且份量大得讓人滿足。牛肉和豬肉的比例恰當,令整塊漢堡鮮嫰多汁。一口咬進去肉感豐厚,不過,上碟那一大堆的他他汁倒是讓整個感觀不太好....雖然味道很棒。
For the main course, I thought I couldn’t go wrong with their house specialties, Hamburg. I don’t like the way they dressed this up in predominantly white but its flavor was fantastic. The portion of beef and pork are in a good mix that it was very tender with lots of juice coming out from the middle. The sauce was a little bit creamy as a welcoming addition to the meat. 

整體而言是很不錯的用餐體驗,走時人也漸多,雨也停了,餐廳的沙律吧和漢堡確是不錯,午巿看起來也很相宜,下次試試。
雨有時也不是不好,至少,它配上了寧靜作伴。
Of course, Meat King is a good place to visit but the outstanding performance of Hamburg is not
overwhelming enough. I expected a better quality on dishes other than the Hamburg. Nonetheless, the Hamburg and salad bar are so great that the defects of side dishes do not obscure the virtues. I look forward to a second visit with friends, may be lunch?
