Walked by early on a Sunday evening and were attracted by the menu. Tamer, the chef/manager was very welcoming. Appetizers were excellent, and the hummus was well seasoned and accompanied by a nicely spicy Harissa. We shared the mixed grill platter for two and it was outstanding.  The vegetarian soup and cous cous accompaniment was the highlight. The seasonings were very good. Wine & beer selections were good. Unfortunately, the taps weren't working so we could not try the Egyptian draft beer. Do try this place / it's quite good.

I noticed this place when I was walking around in Soho, and got a chance to try it on an early Sunday evening. Our group of 4 ordered the babaganosh, hummus, sardines, stuffed grapes and the mixed grill (for 2). The food was delicious! The babaganosh and hummus were very fresh, and the stuffed grapes were warm and delicious. The bread was also really warm and soft. The mixed grill also came with couscous and a vegetable sauce that were both very good. Highly recommended. I'll be back!

So months ago a friend and I were strolling around the Soho area and came across a Middle Eastern/Turkish restaurant. We were checking out the menu outside the entrance when suddenly the owner walked out from the restaurant to greet us. We had a small conversation and found out that he actually also owns Sahara (which I believe is pretty famous?) as well as a new Egyptian restaurant just down the block. He brought of the his new restaurant, The Nile, where he got us drinks and had a nice chat about his life in HK. Unfortunately we both had dinner plans that day so we didn’t get to actually dine at the Nile until a few weeks ago. When we got to the restaurant on a Saturday early evening, it was quite empty and found the owner sitting outside alone. He saw us walking by and greeted us – we were surprised that he recognized us!On our previous visit, he mentioned that he bought all of the interior decor and fixtures from Egypt. It does indeed have a very nice middle Eastern flair to itWe started off with a black truffle hummus served with warm pita breadIt was well seasoned, and the truffle flavour came from truffle oil drizzled on top.The owner asked us if we liked spicy, and I said yes so he brought out a small dish of chilli sauce from the kitchen. Not sure what exactly it was, but it was VERY spicy yet addicting. For our main course we had ‘Couscous of the Nile’, which was couscous with lamb shank, served with a side of vegetable soup. While I don’t usually like lamb (or other gamey meat), this wasn’t too gamey for me. The meat was very tender and fell off the bone easily. As for the couscous, it was a little bit bland on its own but it was fine if eaten with the vegetable soup. While we only ordered two dishes, it was more than enough for the two of us. We could barely finish it!The total came out to be $284, which is very reasonable considering that it is SOHO area afterall.I don’t eat Middle Eastern cuisine very often so I cannot judge its authenticity, but taste-wise I thought it was pretty decent. Plus again, the service was nice especially from the owner. Worth a visit!
