和友人為肥雞啤酒而來,大概是平日的關係,餐廳不是太多人。我們二人獲安排坐4人枱,冷氣不太凍,坐得舒適,燈光帶黃,裝修帶點raw的工業風感覺。啤哂先來,Yeastie Boy Golden Perch Golder Ale ($71)倒出來好香,是honey的味道,也帶有陣果香,入口甘香,有層次。朋友說after taste帶honey 甜味。肥雞IPA ($68),比Golden Ale苦多了,入口帶香草味,層次上比不上Golden Ale。接著是,1) Granny's Southern Chopped Salad ($98)- 可以不吃,味道帶膠味。2) Potato Wedges ($48)- 強烈推介,感覺就是避風塘薯角,下了大量炸香蒜粒調味。3) Cheese Burger ($128)- 麵包香甜鬆軟, 裏面的牛肉恰到好處,沒有over cooked 或under cooked,切一半,可見牛肉相當濕潤,並帶微粉紅。唯一不足是芝士太輕手,話明是Cheese burger,芝士只得薄薄一塊,直頭一口咬下去,完全感覺不到有芝士味,只有牛肉味。 继续阅读

走了一大段路,專程來到伊利近街,只是為了一嘗Smokey Joe's。午市時間人不算多,小店充滿美式風格。小小的吧枱,還有播放美式足球比賽的兩部電視,相信放工時間頗受歡迎。星期2的晚市主菜加$1有多一個主菜,相當抵食。午市套餐可選1 Main+1/2 Sides,主菜有4款不同的漢堡包,Side則有沙律,薯角等等。除了套餐,當然不可不點Smokey Joe's最著名的Baby back ribs。於是,一行4人點了兩個套餐和一份肋骨。Iced tea店員替我們把兩杯冰茶放成4杯,非常熱心。果然是Smokey,連檸檬也烤過。Baby back ribs小份只有4條,剛好夠分。沒有想像中香,勝在做到骨肉分離的效果,肉質不嚡,但也不夠腍。醬汁味道濃郁,稠稠的,塗滿肋骨,幾入味。Cheese burger店員應我們要求把它分成4份。漢堡十分厚,牛肉味幾香,肉質鬆嫩。可是,整體偏乾,自己加上大量spicy hot sauce增加濕潤度,帶辣的汁幾惹味。Pulled pork sandwichSandwich和burger都是一樣。豬肉幾入味,但偏嚡,加上很乾,口感普通。Mac n cheese邪惡的mac n cheese單是賣相已很吸引。通粉彈牙,大量的芝士填滿通粉,啖啖香濃。芝士口感輕盈,一點都不溜。Potato wedges (左),Chopped salad(右)薯角加上大量的炸蒜蓉,有點避風塘的感覺。外層炸得香脆,內裡薯味甚香,很好吃。沙律有牛油果粒,黑橄㰖,雞肉等等,口感和味道豐富,很好吃。不錯的午餐。雖然燒肉才是主打,但Side比main更出色。Burger實在太乾,影響了味道的發揮。小店十分有氣氛,店員的服務也值得一讚。 继续阅读

老土講一句,遇上對的人,情人節每天都過。每逢有什麼節日紀念日,我們都會為大家預備一些小心意,不是在意那禮物的價值,而是想提醒大家能擁有著彼此是多麼的幸運。不想另一半花費太多,事先已講明不要去一些要吃情人節套餐的餐廳,免得被人劏得一頸血,就隨便在蘇豪找間店作為落腳點,可惜結果不甚滿意。沿著中環扶手電梯一直上,差不多上到堅道前便抵達;由於餐牌選擇不多,和男友很快便能決定點些什麼,亦見是喜慶日子要大吃特吃!Granny's Salad $98 (L)不知道大和小的份量有多大差別,二人分吃一份大的也不覺為難。黑醋醬汁略嫌酸了一點,但勝在材料新鮮,是我們最快清碟的一道。Fried Chicken Wings $58一客五隻的雞翼有原味、辣味和菠蘿味三款選擇,選了外面少見的菠蘿味嚐嚐。雞翼尚算大隻,嗅起上來有點香甜的味道,一層薄薄的醬汁輕封著表面,吃下居然有吃鹹味鳳梨酥/蘋果批的感覺,兩者味道算不上很融合但亦不會古怪,至後段辣味才湧現,是不錯的送酒小吃。Baby Back Ribs $138 (L)一份大的有七支骨,每一支骨都有大半隻手掌般長,比我想像中多。豬仔骨是有一種獨特的煙燻味道,但肉質不夠鮮嫩,好幾件吃下都乾乾柴柴的,不討喜。Chicken Sandwich $98 (L)男友說其大份也只像平日普通的份量而已,心雖懷疑,但還是聽他的意見一人來一客的三文治。見它上桌時心裡已覺中伏:不是認為它的份量驚人,若只吃一份三文治我是輕鬆處理有餘,而是我們還外點了其他食物共享啊,現在要我吃完一大個包絕對會太撐,自問食量正常的你可不要和我犯上同一個錯誤哈哈。話說回來,三文治就這樣沒花巧的用兩片麵包夾著一把雞肉,雞胸肉吃起來也帶點煙燻過的味道,再用少許沙律醬和黑椒調味,味道不錯但多吃兩口便覺寡和沈悶;麵包略略烘過,不是軟熟那種口感但又沒有歐式的煙韌,大概是在兩者之間,多吃好飽肚。我本想將它們夾起來同吃,但試過一口後不得不放棄,因為真的太太太乾了!從小媽媽便教導我和哥「好一餐,唔好又一餐」,自問吃東西不是太挑剔,但這兒的食物真的讓人失望,加上使用塑膠餐具甚不環保,感覺像吃頓快餐但連加一後要$540,絕對不值。 继续阅读

Was interested in some pulled pork tonight, so decided to give Smokey joe a try.It's a Tue night so we got the "fat Tue" promotion - with $250 you got 2 sandwiches (pork/beef/chicken) plus 2 draft beer. We picked pulled pork and pulled beef brisket.The 2 sandwiches were served real quick. Time to be a carnivore.At first sight, I saw a huge pile of meat on a bun. It looked good.Things go downhill however upon the first bite. The meat was extremely dry. Yes, both the beef brisket and the pork. It was so dry so that it is almost impossible for one to chew it up or swallow it down without adding bunch of sauce beside the table.Just as nightmare won't end easily, it takes us really a while to finish these 2 huge piles of meat. That is especially so given that the piles consist of nothing but meat. There is not even a layer of veggie neutralizing and balancing the whole sandwich, except a "few pieces" of coleslaw hiding within only the beef sandwich. (The pork one really contains only pork.) Maybe that is the stragety of the owner in forcing you to order the sides...We thus ordered also a potato salad with bacon ($48). However, eating some mediocre potato salad topped with dried bacon certainly cannot make up for our discontent stemming from the sandwiches.Nowadays, it is so easy to operate a shop. Bake a bun, pour a pile of "poor" meat on to it, put down a bottle of sauce on the table and then you can charge a hundred dollars. Blacklisted. 继续阅读

My sister is really into pulled pork, so when I discovered Smokey Joe's when I was in the area the other day, I knew I'd have to go with her!  I went with my sister before she had to work and we brought along our grandma who loves ribs! The setting was quite open. It had a door, but you didn't need a door to get in? Haha.. There were a few TVs showing sports, which made it feel like a chill place. The Menu was on the wall, which was easy to see. Service was good. The staff was polite and noticed our needs. She offered us water and dishes before we even asked. Lunch sets are always such a better deal. Several sandwiches were available for $88 with 1 side plus a drink or $108 for 2 and a drink! WOW! Of course, we went for 2 sides.  1. Potato Wedges with Garlic and Parmesan- This was my favourite dish out of everything that day!  The potato wedges were crispy and the crunchy garlic and parmesan made them amazing! I could eat this every day!2. The Coleslaw was refreshing to eat. The dressing was light, but could have been a tad stronger. Nonetheless, it was great with this very hearty and heavy meal. 3. The Beef Brisket Sandwich ($78) looked really good, and good in a way that it wasn't loaded in BBQ sauce, and I could taste the beef, but bad because it was very dry.  Even the sauces on the table couldn't save it. 4. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was similar to the beef sandwich. The meat in this was more tender, but was also a bit dry. It had more sauce than the pork, which made this sandwich a bit better than the beef sandwich. 5. The Baby Back Ribs ($138) was the best meat dish out of the 3. We got the Large order and it came with 6 pieces! The meat fell right off the bone, and was very tender and juicy. The BBQ sauce was rich and made them fingerlicking good!  I would go back for these!6. The Iced Tea that came with the set was surprisingly good! I noticed that the lemons were kinda grilled. I wonder if that was what made the iced tea so special! It killed the thirst that was caused by the rich BBQ sauce. Final Verdict:The price was not bad for this type of food in HK, so I'd go back for certain things for sure.  继续阅读
