此餐廳位於One Island East 37樓的轉lift層,一上到去景觀開洋,雖說是轉lift的一層,但地方尚算寬敞,座位也不少,空間感還好。Lunch menu有很多選擇,也可只選擇Semi buffet不選Main Course . 一輪選擇後,最後選了厚安格斯牛扒搭薯條。牛扒叫了5成熟,但來到很失望,只有薄薄一片,幾多成根本吃不到,難想像menu還有薄牛扒的是有多薄。味道普通,燒得不太夠香。薯條則是亮點,很有蕃薯味,很特別。Buffet 區選擇都不少,絕對都夠食。有壽司,青口,很多沙津,熱粟米湯,麵包,水果,Tiramisu 等等。味道普通,唔差的。整體來說,main course 失望,semi buffet夠填飽,二百幾蚊的lunch只普通質素, 但如吃環境都不錯的。

本人今天與同事到了公司附近一個高級商業大廈享受一頓豐富半自助午餐,除了享受美食之外,還可以在37層樓高處遠望一大片海景和山景,真是讚嘆不已。在餐廳,中午時間有一個半自助的沙律buffet 供應,食物供應有不同款式的沙律,羅宋湯,凍蝦,青口,鬆軟麵包,壽司,甜品有馬卡龍,奶凍, Tiramisu, 蛋糕仔等,如加多$20還可以選一款Main courses 如魚柳,Baby chicken等。 最後,餐飲還可選擇有 white flat, cappuccino 等。在這區能享受美食和靚景之外,服務態度殷勤有禮,這個價錢是值得推薦和欣賞

本來上星期已去過的食店,浪子不打算再多寫一篇的。但鑑於今次食到的與上次叫到Cafe的味道大相徑庭,所以就追加一篇給Public。上星期沒有幾多日好天,難得今天風和日麗,當然不應該匿在家中。所以就去了屋企附近的37/F高層Cafe。去到看到除了蛋糕外,今天還未售罄的竟然還有辣肉卷和印度咖喱角(有分素菜/雞)。十分大隻,遠看浪子還以為是曲奇,大型的lucky cookie。翻熱後還附上一個薄荷醬汁,不辣,帶點香口和郁烈的香料味撲面而來。聽職員說還有素菜款的,適合素食人仕。酥皮是十分厚實的麵粉造成,用膠叉幾乎是刺不入的,最後都要改用手來撕開。撕開後的皮不容易碎,也沒有幾多餅碎。味道似平常在超市買到的一種千層酥餅乾。浪子起初還以為雞肉份量應該不多,想不到充滿了整個咖喱角。還以為這是半碗的雞粒飯。雞肉攪得很碎,吃不出有沒有雞皮,大抵上是無的,因為吃下去不覺得太肥油。沾少少薄荷醬色,加埋本身已經撈了在雞肉碎裡頭的不同香料,是一款很有趣的小食。這間Cafe,原來賣咖啡和甜食之外,咸點都有返不錯的味道,這又讓浪子多了一個三不五時就要走上來的籍口了。

雞肉攪得很碎,吃不出有沒有雞皮,大抵上是無的,因為吃下去不覺得太肥油。沾少少薄荷醬色,加埋本身已經撈了在雞肉碎裡頭的不同香料,是一款很有趣的小食。

這間Cafe,原來賣咖啡和甜食之外,咸點都有返不錯的味道,這又讓浪子多了一個三不五時就要走上來的籍口了。

聽聞Island East有間Cafe很久,而且不是說地下那間。地下那間是Ground public,而37樓的是Public。要到37樓,先要乘電梯到38樓,再由扶手電梯到37樓。不知是否這個原因,會走進來的人不多,許許直接搭電梯到地下,再到對面那間Pacific Coffee還容易吧。位子很多,人卻很少,樓底既高,檯距又闊。整體感覺上就變得很空曠,很令人舒適。今天的Cake得兩款,選了Victoria Sponge試試。加$18就可以任選一杯Coffee,而浪子就選了Flat White。先講這杯Flat White,中文好像叫白咖啡,這款咖啡款式誕生可能不過30年左右。鮮奶味與Latte有得比,甚至更香濃。當然好飲與否就好睇鮮奶。這杯咖啡的鮮奶看來是麻麻地,味道有點怪怪的,不知是否在室溫放久了,而奶泡太幼身,與Latte做法接近,或者......應該直接叫Latte好了。如果尋根,Flat White是屬於澳洲/紐西蘭血統的。那麼Sponge cake,Victoria sponge cake就一定是純英國血統。這種海綿蛋糕重量很輕,卻與日式海綿蛋糕不同。是較硬朗的風格。蛋糕身的

先講這杯Flat White,中文好像叫白咖啡,這款咖啡款式誕生可能不過30年左右。鮮奶味與Latte有得比,甚至更香濃。當然好飲與否就好睇鮮奶。這杯咖啡的鮮奶看來是麻麻地,味道有點怪怪的,不知是否在室溫放久了,而奶泡太幼身,與Latte做法接近,或者......應該直接叫Latte好了。

如果尋根,Flat White是屬於澳洲/紐西蘭血統的。那麼Sponge cake,Victoria sponge cake就一定是純英國血統。

這種海綿蛋糕重量很輕,卻與日式海綿蛋糕不同。是較硬朗的風格。蛋糕身的材質較粗粒,甜度較高。賣相沒有裝飾,幾乎就是像自家製的home made蛋糕一樣。

$43的一個組合,本來就真的一般般。不過加埋那個幾乎270度的無敵高空靚景,就值回票價了。

服務一般般,雖然客人不多,但服務生都掛住傾計唔太理人。

衛生也一般般,坐了約一小時,多張檯都還沒有執捨/清潔,浪子也選了好幾張檯才選到一張比較好一點的,再自己用紙巾抹檯(很多檯都有餅碎和咖啡漬)。店方要注意一下勤啲清潔了。

First time to the Public; arrived at about 1.30pm for lunch with two friends.
My first impression of Public, when I entered, was “Big”. It was very spacious, not just of the size of the venue, but also between tables, with sufficient walking space for waiting staff. Nowadays, even in expensive restaurants, tables are placed so close to each other that there’s hardly enough room for skinny girls to squeeze into the seats, not to mention safety hazardous walking space for waiting staff with four to five plates of food in both arms. The restaurant was undeniably noisy, with some 20 tables of guests chattering away at almost the same time, but because the tables are comfortably spaced, my friends and I found enough privacy to talk heartedly.
The décor is fashionable with a long red sofa seat, some beige half-circle sofa seats for 4 person tables, and the bar area right at the entrance. The full length windows, occupying one side of the restaurant, provided brilliant natural sunlight and a 180 degree hill side view; MAGNIFICIENT! Too often have we emphasized sea-view and forgot about Hong Kong’s beautiful green nature. The view itself brings serenity and peacefulness to the mind, perfect preparation for gastronomy delight.
I arrived first, while waiting, I ordered a regular coffee. Public serves Illy coffee; finally a break from Starbucks; an obvious proof that Public is not a Maxims Group restaurant. I later confirmed with the waiter that Public is a Swire Group restaurant.
Maxims meet your competitor!
The Illy coffee (HK$28) came in a nostalgic Coca-Cola-can red coffee cup, and, with a miniature milk bottle, 75% filled with warm coffee milk. I don’t drink coffee with milk, but I love milk. First sip of the milk; rich, full, can this be real milk? Second sip, I believe it’s real milk, but I didn’t bother to confirm.
When my friends arrived, the waiter brought us 2 sets of menus each. One page a la carte menu, with a one page drink menu at the back, also a one page set lunch menu with two courses and three courses selections. The menu is not extensive yet it consists of cuisines from India, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, Italy, French, North America, and Britain. A disappointment was that there’s only one vegetarian dish, the Mixed seasonal vegetable Curry with rice/ naan bread.
The desert menu seems impressive enough, serving Apple Crumble and Crème Brulee; never expected that from a mid-priced range eatery.
Our order included, Lobster Brisque, Mixed seasonal vegetable Curry with rice (the only vegetarian dish), and Artichoke & Lemon Risotto. The last dish was not a vegetarian dish as it is cooked with chicken stock.
The Lobster Brisque (HK$60) was rich and not too salty, but lacked that bitter lobster taste.
The Mixed seasonal vegetable Curry with rice (HK$85) also includes a zesty mint sauce and a sweet mango chutney sauce. The dish was adjusted to Hong Kongers’ appetites, thus not too spicy nor salty, and most importantly, not too greasy. As such, it’s not authentic. I was quite satisfied with the vegetables, they tasted fresh; not the withered and frozen taste one normally finds in a restaurant that doesn’t specialize in vegetarian dishes. One thing to better the experience would be to use Indian long rice instead of pearl rice.
The Artichoke & Lemon Risotto (HK$105) has also been adjusted to Hong Kongers’ appetites. Again, not as creamy and greasy as it should be, thus not authentic, but appropriate for a lunch, after which one is forced to sit in a cubicle for another 4 to 6 hours. What I liked about the risotto was that its artichokes did not have that “canned/ bottled” taste.
And I am very happy that I didn’t feel a dry quench after the meal, which is evidence that Public did not use cheap seasoning and oil. In fact, Public provides Himalayan table salt and Peppercorn table pepper, very CLASSY!
My verdict of the food is Satisfactory. Although it is not extraordinary, and definitely not authentic, it is sincere, and much better than similar-price-range Simply Life.
Finally, I must talk about services. The waiter was very attentive. When ordering, I told the waiter that we would be sharing. Normally, in a busy restaurant, the waiting staff would not give much thought to my remark, but this waiter immediately brought us 3 plates for our convenience of sharing our lunch. This little gesture brings that difference in a restaurant that includes customer service as one of its agenda.
Swire group will be opening a steak house soon in Taikoo Apartments, Mr and Mrs Fox; for sure I will put it down in my must-try list.

Came here for a snack after looking at the exhibit at Artistree with boyfriend as he told me there's a quiet place he likes to work with a view.Public is an interesting restaurant. On one side there is a restaurant area with actual service and on the other side is a canteen like area where it's totally self service. Public is an interesting restaurant. On one side there is a restaurant area with actual service and on the other side is a canteen like area where it's totally self service. View is on the 37th floor of One Island East and has a great view of Tai Koo below. When we were there, the afternoon lunch rush was over so it was nice and quiet. However, majority of their hot meals were already sold out.

Lemon Drizzle Cake ($12). I chose this as a snack. It was a small little cake bar. It was moist and WHAM POW with lemon flavor. It wasn't too sweet. I liked it a lot.

I would return again. Perhaps next time try out the restaurant area. We were informed by the staff that the reservations are highly recommended for that area as it is always full.

On my previous visit, I complained because I was served non-Indian rice from the Indian joint.Anyway, this time I also got Chinese rice again!The aloo gobi was really disappointing because it was just curry sauce with vegetables that were added in the last minute.You could tell the vegetables were added the last minute because the potatoes and tomatoes had perfectly defined edges, which would be softened if it were simmered in the curry.The taste of the curry was not the usual aloo gobi flavour

You could tell the vegetables were added the last minute because the potatoes and tomatoes had perfectly defined edges, which would be softened if it were simmered in the curry.
The taste of the curry was not the usual aloo gobi flavour because they used a standard curry base that they use for curries every day.

The sausage rolls looked weird too.
The proportion of sausage meat and pastry does not look like the typical ones.

第一次來這裡!餐廳居高臨下,位於Island East 37/f, 一去到已被窗外境色吸睛得很!原本以為儘管是food court, 價價都吾會平啦,但係出乎意料,我點了印度燒鷄配薄餅,加杯Americano, 總供$82, 燒雞好滑充滿印度tandoori 香料味 (點都好食過某些大型超級市場熟食counter買的又乾有鞋燒chicken! 薄餅亦很新鮮鬆軟,讚!至於Americano用上Illy coffee, 賣$20杯真係超低飲!

Went back again for the curry and the food has slightly improved because they did not serve it with that nasty pearl rice but normal rice.It was not Indian rice but the texture was certainly better than pearl rice.As for the fish, it was very mushy and coated in too much flour.For desserts I had the apple tart which was nice and tart but couldn't taste any almonds or visibly see any because it was labelled as an apple and almond tart.Anyway, it was a nuisance because the tart was served in a pap

Anyway, it was a nuisance because the tart was served in a paper bag which made it difficult to eat and the tart got deformed.

The food looked good but in reality it was bad!Public has pretentious decor and it is located in the East end of Hong Kong which is nothing compared to lovely central and the IFC building which I believe they are trying to pretend to be.I was tempted by the churros but it does not come with sauce which is pathetic.Churros are normally served with sauce.The size is a bit weird too or maybe they are meant to be donuts and not churros!!The salad was tasteless and it was weird they put pieces of bag

The curry which looked promising was disappointing because the stupid rice was bloody Pearl rice and not Indian Rice.

As the curry was good I had Naan on another visit but that was crap too because it was dense and not risen properly.

同朋友話去lunch,終於訂位訂咗今日(11月14)嚟個Friday lunch。上到港島東中心37樓,要轉右,因為左邊係food court。地方大坐得舒服,我地一行三人order 咗BB燒雞燒牛脊肉海鮮批牛肉串燒埋單$600幾
