Came here with a group of 12 for a semi-formal meeting-cum-dinner. So we were hoping the place wouldn't be too noisy and we can eat without the need to shout, or be hinted to leave the place asap. Which this place was perfect for.The decor is decent, with some retro chandeliers and red sofas that looked a bit worn but still comfy enough. The decor is decent, with some retro chandeliers and red sofas that looked a bit worn but still comfy enough. The waiters were attentive in bringing us a cup of water when we first arrived, but needed a bit of prompting to refill them, and also some wandered about without looking out for a hand in the air desperately waving at them for attention. But they were all polite and tried to be helpful, even when we reminded them for the 3rd time to bring desserts.
We ordered an 8 person set meal and an additional risotto, pasta, and a nachos to share. The food were all very decent, and large enough in portion for everyone to have a decent bite. The set meal came with focaccia with pesto and a spicy dip, and it was also great with the lobster bisque which was flavourful without being heavy. The salads were evenly and lightly seasoned with balsamic vinaigrette, simple but refreshing, and the ingredients were of good quality too. The nachos were ok, the cheese was a bit plasticky but probably because it had cooled down a bit, and the nachos slightly soggy. They could have put some sour cream and chives on it, which is how I like them. There was a potato chips gratin which was satisfying without ruining our appetite for the rest of the meal. The bacon and red wine risotto was delightful, and so was the black truffle risotto, but the latter was probably smaller in size due to ?cost of truffles. We had the spinach linguine with seafood pumpkin sauce, and the tuna in pink vodka cream sauce. Both were a little too heavy on the sauce and made it look like a pasta stew, but the taste was fine and the pasta quite al dente. The pizzas came with a thin crispy crust and the toppings weren't too heavy - we had the mango chicken and the hawaiian. The only thing was the pizzas came on top of a VERY heavy chopping board which took quite some muscles to lift and pass around. Dessert, when it finally came, was a little moist brownie with a scoop of icecream and some caramel sauce to top it off.
Wine is an extra $30, 8 drinks included and extra $10 for cold ones. Spanish coffee came with a nice floating icecream, all the girls oohed and aahed when one of the guys ordered it.
And this all came up to $142 for each. Bargain! Carpark next to Tom Lee, have to leave keys.
