Just came back from my trip to Osaka and thought that I'd never have good sushi again. How wrong was I to think of this. Today, I went with a few buddies to I-Square for lunch (my first visit to this newly built mall) and to my surprise Monster's sushi is quite fresh and well worth its value. Not too big, not too small, not too much or too little rice, nor was there too much wasabi in the middle of the sushi itself (we are not on a 'cheung moon yun' game show). It was just right. The catch of the
The catch of the day:
We had ordered a bit of everything to get a feel of the chef's skill. Here goes
My Fav: Semi-grilled "Joor How Yu" sushi (translation = left mouth fish) Don't ask me why they gave a fish such a name...All I care about is that it's YUMMYYYY .... it's really melt in your mouth good. Had some sort of red sauce on top, and I think it helped to accentuate the overall taste of the fish.
2nd Fav: Eel wrapped in egg.....(nice hot cooked food) So ...why Eel and Egg? Go figures, but this combo is actually quite balancing and good tasting. You must try this one if you're not a big raw fish eater......
3rd Fav: GIGANTIC Scallop sushi...... I put my thumb next to it and it was equivalent to TWO extra long thumbs put together. I took three bites before I was able to finish one. Again, size does matter, but the best part is that it was really fresh. Very very comparable , if not better, then the one I had in Kyoto.
We must have ordered about 10 other different items before we decided to call it a day and finish it off with a sweet ending...... Green-tea ice cream is quite good on its own, but match it with some sort of jelly cake and redbeans......Well, out of this world.
Overall, I had a great experience (ambiance, nice renov, friendly and fast service, good value for the food)... I prefer this over the other chains out there and will SURELY go back!!!!!!!
Sorry guys, but I didn't bring a camera and the pix on my phone are of bad quality, but next time I visit, I will show you it all.........=)
