Brunching is honestly the best idea ever invented by humans! After trying out so many brunch places throughout Hong Kong, I found a cute little restaurant in Civic Square, Elements that served amazing brunch food. I had an enjoyable meal there and the food was awesome.As we had a dog with us, we were seated outside. As we had a dog with us, we were seated outside. The weather that day was just really nice, not too hot or sunny, with a touch of breezes.

(1) The Breakfast Steak and Hash was out of this world! The steak was cooked just fine, medium rare. It was so tender and the flavour was well-sauteed. The hash had an egg on top - it was so delish. The whole combination was just A-OK.

(2)Sate’d Orignial Cheeseburger. The burger was quite good. The patty was on fleek. Came with fries too.

Went with my wife to do some shopping at Elements and decided to grab a bite during lunch time. Went up to the roof deck and remembered Madam S'Ate where we had dine before and had a very good experience.We were welcomed at the door with big smiles and as the weather was mild, decided to sit outdoors in the alfresco dining area. The wait staff presented us the menus and introduced us to the various choices available, including the All Day Menu, the Set Lunch Menu and the Snacks Menu. We started

Chicken and Red Snapper. The meals arrived promptly and well spaced out so we had time to move from one dish to another. And they changed our plates after every dish! How wonderful!

We were offered desserts after our meals but we opted for a deliciously brewed coffee instead.

The experience was very pleasant indeed, well surpassed the previous one we had quite some time ago. We will definitely look forward to coming back here again very soon.

We arrived at 7.40, looking forward to a nice dinner, and ordered the 1000gm Bone-in Rib Eye for two ($980) with sides of kenya beans and salad. For starter, we chose the Mussels ($160) which came about 30 minutes later and was okay with fennel and light creamy sauce. Portion rather small, though.  Then came the disaster ! He agreed, and went away. At 9.20pm, with nothing having arrived to our table despite 4 requests, we pleaded with the kitchen to serve us before the movie actually started. At 9.27pm, a second plate arrived (see picture) which looked basically like the first piece, only less meat on the plate, more dry, and JUST AS BARELY WARM AS THE FIRST ONE ! I'm not sure why this person working in a kitchen would think this is how to impress a customer or keep their job :-(

We had 10 minutes to eat, were decidedly annoyed, insulted, and frustrated.  We ate two pieces and had to leave. (see second photo!)

The serving staff (especially Puja) did their absolute best to help us, placate us, and try to make up for their colleague's appalling service to a customer, but we will definitely be voting with our feet to this restaurant. OUTRAGEOUS !

We arrived at restaurant shortly before 02:00pm for a table of 4 plus a baby. We ordered 2 set lunches and 1 pasta once we were seated. At that time, we noticed that there were only 2 tables that are occupied inside  restaurant. After 30 minutes, we waited patiently for our entrees to arrive and politely asked one of the waitress to follow up. waitress replied in two words "its coming". We waited until 02:50pm and finally the 2 entrees arrived, which was a salmon and soup. Afterwards, we assumed

We waited until 02:50pm and finally the 2 entrees arrived, which was a salmon and soup. Afterwards, we assumed that the mains would come at a reasonable time however, we waited for 30 minutes and kindly reminded the waitress again to follow up. She did not reply nor say anything to us. Then afterwards, a male staff approached our table and said that he has already rushed the kitchen 10 times and insisted that this is your restaurant's "policy" that mains are prepared only after entrees are cooked. He made this statement in a "strong tone" and insisted that there was not any wrongdoings whatsoever. 

The mains finally arrived after we waited for 45 minutes. Total waiting time for entrees and main = 1 hrs and 25 mins approx.
we have waited for over an hour for our food during lunch time in which the restaurant capacity was not at its fullest. We do not  believe that it is under normal circumstance to have  customers wait for food for over an hour. Even if that is the case, we expect that the service or manner and handling customer service would be better and  could understand customers may be hungry waiting for their lunches after an hour.

After we paid the bill which was in around $750 and started to leave, none of the staff  had the courtesy to either say "Thanks for coming" nor "Sorry for the wait".

 Restaurant claims" Experience truly memorable al fresco dining at Madam S’ate; one of the best outdoor restaurants in Hong Kong. Seated in our elegant open-air dining area, you can rely on first-class service and excellent food from our contemporary European menu."  However, I do not agree with this statement as the service is not first-class and being a frequent diner in Hong Kong, we will not recommend to our friends/guests.

i have a dinner here last month and I definitely say not worth it . better place is out there. food is so so and service is negligent. drinks is over price only good thing for this place is location . unfortunately I can't eat location . The table is dancing need to fix it my self otherwise I'll be swinning with my own soup. So disappointed. decor is good though.

food is okay but the cocktail and beer price is a bit too high compare to the other price in elements for that price I can have a full dinner in grand central plus a drink. need to work on their pricing. I understand why the service is not that great because their understaff for such big place. such a pity that if you charge that much you should at least provide enough people to serve the guys your ripping out. Anyway won't be back again.

Sunday should be a day for relax, after movie, we had nothing to do. Why don't we stay in a good restaurant and enjoy ?.After a few selections, we came to this restaurant.It had full of sunshine..We ordered a breakfast set like all day breakfast. Overall the taste super good, especially the hem.

It was one of the worst meal experience I had in HK. For example....the French Onion soup had pickled onion and the cream of mushroom soup was as think as a thick curry. When the same was pointed out, the server said, French Onion soup comes with Pickled Onion. The salads were horrible as well.And, they were horribly arrogant as well

On a Tuesday evening, I brought my friend to Element for dinner to celebrate her birthday.  We booked another venue, we sat down but we decided to leave after 2 minutes as it was too noisy, we will not be able to chat unless we shout.  So we walked around and finally settled at Madam S'ate.  We choose to sit outside to enjoy a breezy evening.  We were lucky as there weren't many smokers around us and people at other tables were reasonable quiet.  So it was all enjoyable and relaxing.The waiters

The waiters & waitresses are friendly and patient with smiles on their faces; honestly speaking I prefer the ambience than the quality of food.  Well, I don't mean that their food wasn't good, but I was a bit disappointed by the over-priced suckling pig ($580 serve for 2).  When it's named suckling pig, I was expecting to see a crispy skin roast pig (imagine the spanish version of suckling pig).  But you may see from my photos it's not....it's covered with sauce and there was a thick layer of fat underneath the skin
and it's hardly a good quantity enough for 2 person.  I am sure a German pork knuckle will be better, but you only pay half that price!!!  


The salmon salad was ok, not impressively good but ok.  It's a $160 salad, I would expect more than just ok. 

I had a glass of Merlot red wine ($85/glass) & my friend had a crafty beer ($80/bottle).  I would say the trendy beer are pricy.  Of course we haven't forgotten this is Element, no doubt we contribute for the ambience and location. 

It's a good place for chatting and sitting at the outside in the evening is chilly and laid-back.  Just don't put too high expectation on the food then you are fine!  :-)

復活節假期第一日,同大佬去Element睇咗場1:15嘅海綿寶寶,完場已經2:45,之後決定再嚟幫襯呢度。因為天氣唔太熱同曬,所以坐室外,而坐室外係冇服務提供,好似如果要order就要走入舖頭裡面,雖然係咁,都唔覺太麻煩,同啲待應都盡量配合。環境都幾開揚,俾四面豪宅遠遠包圍住,我哋嗰日都坐咗2個幾鐘,又唔會趕你走,陣陣微風吹都幾relex。當日我哋order咗一個Wagyu Beef Salad 同Fish and Chips, 個沙律好豐富,加上和牛7成熟,雖然油份唔高不過牛肉味都唔錯,牛肉份量都唔少,而且仲有呢度自家製薯片同個Honey Sauce 好夾。到個炸魚薯條啦,一般過一般,炸到有啲油淋淋,脆漿皮厚薄一般,魚肉都幾有口感,唔嚡,食落似急凍貨,都算唔錯,反而個薯條有驚喜。我就飲咗杯青瓜味cocktail,青青甜甜,酒精唔太濃,好啱女仔,而大佬就生啤一杯。總括我其實都唔係第一之喺度進餐,食物唔太特別,反而環境我個人就幾like。

Finally managed to set a day to meet up with J and Sy, and J suggested Elements since his princess bb can easily come down to join us after her afternoon nap.  I rushed over to Kowloon Station after church, and since it was a sunny day, we opted for seats outdoors.  Of course, first thing I've ordered having arrived was a beer to cool myself down.  Probably because they don't have license for outdoor seatings so we had to walk over to the counter to order and pickup food ourselves.  Madam S'ate

In terms of food, I've ordered the classic truffle carbonara, thinking it couldn't go wrong.  I was wrong.  It was definitely not al dente and the sauce was weak.  It was totally lacking the creamy and cheesey flavor, and the sauce was rather watery.  This pasta, at this quality, was to my standard, quite pricey.  I remember it was something like $180.  I definitely had to do alot of salt-and-pepper'ing to the dish to make it slightly more edible.

Sy and J ordered the Croque Madam and the fried seafood platter.  Croque Madam looked decent although I didn't taste it, and fried seafood was not bad.  But again, how can anything deep fried go wrong given the batter-food ratio doesn't get too off, right?

We ordered 3 desserts to share amongst 5 adults and a baby.  I'd say these were probably the best out of all the things I've tried during the meal.  I opted for pavlova - always my first pick.  Honey and chocolate ice for the baby and rents; rhubarb and berry tart for the couple.

Not a cheap brunch.  It never is at either of the Madam's, but I was slightly disappointed with the quality of the food at this price, not to mention having to travelling all the way across the harbor.  Only thing I like is the chilled alfresco ambiance, dessert and of course, company of my buddies.

今早攞了半日假想鬆一鬆 , 又有甚麼好得吃一頓滿意的早午餐呢?所以選擇來此 Madam S'sate ! 位置在九龍站圓方的花園頂層 , 人流少又無車 , 在此環境已覺寫意。 我要了份 One pan , 約等於英式早餐 , 隻温泉蛋最無得頂.... 流哂心渗入件多士… 番茄及菇菇又大件 , 烟肉和腸是烤煮上碟 , 所以很 home make feel , 仲有份量不少的菠菜來給我均衡飲食添 ! 飲品就叫了杯 Spritz , 檸檬及薄荷味 match 得很好 , 而且杯中有鮮薄荷葉可供我咬咬… 直情涼入心… 因咬咬薄荷葉總好過咬牙切齒地睇班佔中政棍偽君子上新聞呀 !食完這一餐 簡直覺得 心情開懷舒暢 !

I came here for brunch, ordered affogato and a salmon tartine.The salmon tartine was good, but the affogato, which cost over $70 inc service charge was just the most disappointing affogato I had in my life. The ice cream was so small, it looked like it was scooped out of a tea spoon, and there was probably one small single shot of espresso. I was expecting a lot more for $70Suggest they go order the affogato at holy brown to see how it should be done.

週一有大壇嘢要跟進,但唔知點解,星期天的心情卻是異常輕鬆。中午跟朋友去圓方睇齣戲,之後歎個Brunch,hea足半天。或許平日愈是繁忙,愈會珍惜假日的悠閒感覺。沒什麼心水,走進花園平台,隨意找間餐廳。曾經有一刻想走入Toro,but wait! 好友似乎剛剛說過這不是十分好,還是不要冒險,結果轉了過來。位處這花園平台的餐廳,環境必定不會令人失望,這裡的設計更走簡約舒適路線,感覺優閒,更切合我當日的心情,是吃Brunch的好地方。大家各自選喜歡的,再分甘同味,可試到更多。先講我的,Croque Madam,賣相似乎不俗。掀起面頭的麵包,那搖搖欲墜的蛋黃,以及烤過的豬腩,更誘人。大口咬下,既有芝士香,麵包吸入了蛋黃汁,軟熟好吃,還有鬆化的豬腩,大致滿意。對方選的一款,有齊水蛋、煙肉、炸蕃茄、蘑菇以及黑椒豬肉腸,陣容鼎盛。Poached egg的味道很淡口,令致底下的麵包也不吸引,蘑菇是相對好一點,起碼味道濃郁,豬肉腸味同樣重,只不過真是很嚡口。已成習慣,即使是假日,亦需喝一杯咖啡。這裡的Latte,擁有漂亮的拉花,呷下去,咖啡底醇厚,不用放糖也可以,合心。每天的喝咖啡,若然把它集結起來,弄

沒什麼心水,走進花園平台,隨意找間餐廳。曾經有一刻想走入Toro,but wait! 好友似乎剛剛說過這不是十分好,還是不要冒險,結果轉了過來。

位處這花園平台的餐廳,環境必定不會令人失望,這裡的設計更走簡約舒適路線,感覺優閒,更切合我當日的心情,是吃Brunch的好地方。

大家各自選喜歡的,再分甘同味,可試到更多。先講我的,Croque Madam,賣相似乎不俗。掀起面頭的麵包,那搖搖欲墜的蛋黃,以及烤過的豬腩,更誘人。大口咬下,既有芝士香,麵包吸入了蛋黃汁,軟熟好吃,還有鬆化的豬腩,大致滿意。

對方選的一款,有齊水蛋、煙肉、炸蕃茄、蘑菇以及黑椒豬肉腸,陣容鼎盛。Poached egg的味道很淡口,令致底下的麵包也不吸引,蘑菇是相對好一點,起碼味道濃郁,豬肉腸味同樣重,只不過真是很嚡口。

已成習慣,即使是假日,亦需喝一杯咖啡。這裡的Latte,擁有漂亮的拉花,呷下去,咖啡底醇厚,不用放糖也可以,合心。

每天的喝咖啡,若然把它集結起來,弄成相簿,大概都會幾令人回味。唔知,我會唔會有恆心去做呢?

Tartare beef, egg yolk jam, house potato chips $140
我們這天點了一份burger和一份2 courses的set dinner;而這份Tartare則是跟餐的,其實套餐也不是便宜很多,$20而已,但正好starter和main course都是我喜愛的,所以還是點了一份set dinner。
先來一份Beef Tartare,生牛肉的大小剛剛好,肉質粒粒彈牙帶輕輕的嚼勁,牛味亦算強,當中加入了很多pickle,完全能減低那牛的生味道,而且酸酸的份外開胃,pickle脆脆的,增添了不少口感。一般tartare都是用比較大的蛋黃,但這裡用了eye yolk jam,沒有一般蛋黃的濕,多了一層膠感;沒有蛋黃,可能沒那樣濕潤,但因為本身的生牛肉濕潤多汁,所以一點也不會乾身。而旁邊的薯片則是自家製的,沒有加入了太多鹽,感覺上比較健康,脆脆的,不錯。

Pork loin, white lasagne, onions and scallions $260
到主食了,看到薯條實在太開心,這份薯條薯味是足夠的,薯條亦炸得香脆,很喜歡吃喔:而pork loin是做得非常好的,豬味很濃郁,帶點焦香,而肉質亦很軟,肉與肉之間存在了很多脂肪,入口脂香四溢,愛肥膏的不可錯過喔;而底下的麵包亦很美味,帶著濃濃的麵粉香,非常煙韌,超喜歡喔;美中不足的是有點過燶,苦了些。

risket 200g, Morbier Cheese and pickles served on a brioche bun + frites
又有一客薯條,雖然薯條真的不太健康,但我實在太愛,忍受不了的。這個wagyu burger不及pork loin的好吃,和牛肉質尚算軟,但比較實;和牛的味道亦算濃郁,帶著輕輕的油脂;而bun的質感算不錯,很香脆,但牛油則比較重,個人覺得有點油,那味道會搶走了牛的味道。
頗喜歡這裡的食物,但服務態度則很一般般,甚至可以說可我們當透明,想點菜,揮手很久也沒有人看到;想要水,說了兩次才記得我們那數杯水;想結腿,又等了很久;我們很早便到,店內沒太多人,侍應們是否應該更專心?
在不久的將來,我應該會去試試灣仔的Madam Sixty Ate,很久之前已想試,訂座也訂過數次,但每次都取消;下次再訂座必定會到了。
