Very nice steak, duck breast. Pairing with good value wine and have quite a collection of whiskey and gin. Owner is super nice, chatty, enthusiastic about his food and drinks. ------------------------------It's a Friday night out, me and a few friends was suppose to meet early and go to la vache for dinner to have a nice glass of red and good steak. .But turns out none of us got off work on time and by the time we got there its around 7:30... and the waitress at la vache told us we would have to

It's a Friday night out, me and a few friends was suppose to meet early and go to la vache for dinner to have a nice glass of red and good steak.

But turns out none of us got off work on time and by the time we got there its around 7:30... and the waitress at la vache told us we would have to wait at least 2 hours to get a table. As we were disappointed and walking out from the restaurant, we heard an enthusiastic voice from the opposite of la vache, asking us if we would like to try their steak instead. Promising it's gonna be real good and if we don't like it, we don't need to pay for it. At first we got quite sceptical about it as seems he is hard selling his food a bit too much but we give in by the hunger and the warm welcome.

The restaurant have no menu at all, only a few choice of main and it's a 3 course set meal. The owner came to explain every course in detail and also recommendation on wine etc. On the day we have steak, duck breast, salmon and pork. We ordered the steak, pork and duck breast.

Food comes a little slow but it's acceptable with a glass of wine in hand and just chill with friends.

The first course is a smoke salmon salad, I have to say I really enjoy the dressing, it's punchy with strong garlic taste.

Second is a tomato and mushroom soup, again, really bold and pack with tomato favour and with bits of mushroom in the soup, very nice.

Then the main, the steak and duck breast is huge! So big of a portion, cook to perfection. The steak is medium rare, a little char and crunchy on the outside, juicy tender on the instead. (To be honest, I think it's a bit better than la vache steak)
Duck breast still have a little pink inside, tender and juicy. Very nice and aromatic.
We also had a pretty nice wine to pair with the food recommended by the owner.
As we were full and checked the bill, we was standing outside the restaurant and deciding where to go for a drink later, the owner suddenly came out with a few glasses and a bottle of whiskey saying that he has to have a drink with us before we leave, then we end up chatting outside the restaurant, he explains the origin of the whiskey (he brought a few of his collection out to treat us at the same time). We ended up chatting and drinking outside he restaurant for another 45mins. (All his treat. I would say he's really crazy as an owner)

To conclude, this is overall a very satisfying experience, great food with great value. Warm and welcoming, highly recommend to try if you love your steak and wine.
