I’ve read a lot of comments saying that this is an amazing restaurant and today I finally got a chance to try it out. The menu is really interesting as the princess here seems to have gained some weight! The starter included in lunch set was Corn Soup. It looked quite artistic. They may put the corn and cream into blender and mix them up. The soup itself was creamy. With corn scraps adding chewy texture, it became even better. The taste was rich and every ingredient awesomely matched the soup.
For main, I ordered Pork Ribeye with Cranberry Sauce. I was really curious about the flavor when pork is combined with fruits😅. I thought it might be strange (But actually not). For the first impression, it looked pretty. But when I tried to cut it, I was surprised as the pork was so difficult to cut that I thought it was over-cooked. And My inner voice said: I just spent 128HKD on this tough food? It’s not worthy! But soon I changed my mind. The meat inside is soft with beautiful color. With a little bit pressure, the fluid inside just overflowed. Giving it a bite, the outer layer is crunchy and the inside is tender. Ever time I chewed, the meat surprised me with its succulent taste.
I really enjoy the steak as the thickness made it super chewy. I prefer ribeye to sirloin when dealing with beef steaks as I love the feeling when the fatty meat melts in my mouth. But when it comes to pork, the texture becomes totally different. It’s tight and chewy, giving me another experience. I tried yellow mustard as well. Just as I imagined, delicious. Yellow mustard can match every ingredient very well. I specifically enjoy it when I put some mashed potatoes on the top of the steak. The crunchy out layer together with creamy mashed potatoes, they amazingly brought out the advantages of each other. And the cranberry neutralized the greasiness of the meat, leaving only refreshing feelings to the whole meal.
The side dishes are delicious as well. There should be beetroot added into the mashed potato to achieve its fuchsia color. And it tasted sweet. Smooth and at the same time, it impressed me with the milk fragrance. The corns are succulent as well. But the leafy veggie was tasteless. The carrots are extraordinary as well. The strange flavors of the carrots disappeared, which I admired very much. I even found that I got familiar with carrots for the first time as I enjoy its dulcet taste.
My drink——Mint & Lime Soda. It arrived a little bit late. However, it was just average, with nearly no flavor of mint or lime. And half of the glass is filled with ice.
In a word, I really like the food here and I will for sure come here for a second visit next time I come to Lai Chi Kok.
