As an organic food oriented vegan who don't prefer the traditionally greasy Chinese vegetarian restaurant with lots of mock meat, I was DELIGHTED to see more and more western/fusion style veggie places opening up. The courage of the 3 owners opening a veggie place in CWB alone deserves applauds from all veggies.
I think the cafis having a pretty good start, it’s has a very nice ambience. There’re a couple things I think it can improve. First and foremost, is the taste of food. Usually people tell me veggie dishes are blend, and the food in Harmony sorta proves this statement. Not that I’m a good cook, but pasta, pizza, toast and such food, I can really make it at home easily, with much complicated and richer taste. Maybe, I don’t know, the owners like the really light taste and not care too much about putting enough salt in the food, and preserve the taste of the veggie. I’m all for this kind of concept, though, some food like salad, you can do without much seasoning, but things like main dishes, you’d think it’s richer. I cook without much seasoning also, but somehow, the food here seems just bland, and all the times I was there, I was thinking, I can make it better at home…So, maybe it’s just my expectation and taste but I just feel like proving my friends wrong that veggie res. is also tasty and complicated. (Think bookworm and Life….even the newly opened World Peace is much better in terms of food sophistication.)
I also thinks that the owners has lots of passion, and they’re very about not to distrub the customers, but sometimes, I think, they can be more socialable. They can offer to chat up with the frequeners, just to create a more homy cozy environment, so that they’d come back more often.
But it’s a good place to hangout with friends, but I always need to give a preamble to my non-veggie friends, that, don’t expect too much from the food. :< And unfornately, they agreed.
