Burgers Burgers! People have been crazing about this place, so I finally made a visit tonight.  Environment & Hygiene:Us 4 ladies made a reservation the day before with no problem. We sat at the first round table you will see when you step into the restaurant. No view, but it is not like there is much to look at nearby anyways.   Quite a chic looking place I would say; simple yet nice. Service:
Service was okay too, although the server seemed a little weird and reminded us that they don't have service charge.

Many of the burgers could be ordered as a combo, which comes with fries or salad plus certain drinks on the menu. Two of us got Lemonade and two of us had Iced Tea. My iced tea was super watery and even I poked the lemon a hundred times, nothing changed so I was a bit disappointed with my tasteless drink. 
 Thinking that my friend's lemonade would be better, I tried it. It wasn't any better since it had so much mint in it. Mint is not a herb I like. We thought that it tasted like a virgin mojito. Oh well, at least the drinks were served on a cute little jar that made something nicer.

The four different burgers we got:
1. Chicken Burger with Fries ($125 combo) This was one thick juicy burger! The chicken was cooked just right and was not dry or anything. Also, I liked that the batter was not your typical batter; it was so light and crunchy and reminded me of tempura batter!

What I liked best was the sauce in the burger! It for sure had some beer mixed in to it, which worked very well with the burger. 
 My only complaint about the burger is that the bun was a little burnt. The fries were soso. They tasted like the home made fries my mom used to make at home. They were thick and very "potato", if you know what I mean. I prefer crunchy fries so these weren't my favourite.

2. Falafel Burger with Fries ($126 Combo) This burger looked boring, but it was good! I exchanged half of my chicken burger for half of this veggie burger. 
 The bean patty was crispy and was flavoured nicely with different herbs and spices. 
 My friend thought that it could have had more sauce, but I thought it was just right. I think the avocado paste complimented the patty nicely and helped create a meaty texture for the burger.

3. Cheeseburger with Fries ($135 Combo) I didn't try this, but my friend commented that it was average. She had the patty done medium, and it looked way too red for me.

4. Lamb Burger with Fries ($135 Combo) Another burger that I didn't try. My friend cut her burger in half, and as soon as the knife pierced through the patty, I could smell the lamb. Perfect for lamb lovers. My friend liked it because the "lamb" taste was strong!

Final Verdict:
All the ingredients were very fresh. I enjoyed the 2 burgers I had, but it wasn't big on the fries nor drinks. I would like to try other burgers.

Every now and then a new burger joint pops up, and newly opened Beef & Liberty is certainly causing a stir amongst Hong Kong's carnivores. Located directly above Pizza Express in a shiny new building on Wing Fung Street, this restaurant is a vibrant, lively haunt with floor-to-ceiling windows, sleek wooden tables and an industrial chic set up.

The restaurant's name pays homage to The Sublime Society of Beefsteaks in eighteenth century London, which was a gathering place for London’s intelligentsia to celebrate the consumption of beef and steak, and the society’s members oath of which ended with “...so beef and liberty be my reward”.

The restaurant has a compact but appetising menu, comprising mainly of comfort foods to tantalise diners. The kitchen serves hormone-free grass-fed beef from Tasmania, which is stated to be lean and high in Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E, and freshly grinds the beef twice a day before lunch and dinner.

(1) We decided to start drinking early, and "The Dude" ($78), made with kahlua, vodka and vanilla ice cream, was exactly the spiked milk shake that I was craving! It was lovely and creamy, but I wished it was a tad more alcoholic.

(2) The crispy chicken wings with Korean spicy sauce ($62) were simple but moreish. The chicken wing's surface was delightfully crispy, and the sauce was tangy and enticing.

(3) The cheeseburger ($92) was utterly satisfying. The lightly toasted bun was crispy and fluffy, the cheddar cheese was wonderfully half melted, and the butter lettuce was crisp and fresh.

It was, however, the pink-middled beef patty that made my heart sing. The beef was, as advertised, lean and juicy, and its intense beefy taste left a lasting impression.

(5) The rocket & mandarin orange salad ($38) arrived in a huge, white tin tray, and there was no way I could finish it despite how tasty it was. The oranges and honeyed walnuts added a bright touch, and the sherry vinaigrette dressing completed the salad.

(6) For desserts, we ordered a warm skillet cookie & cream ($48), which was indulgent and certainly worth the calories! The soft-middled cookie was kept very warm, and was served with a suitable amount of cream which made it extra decadent.

The service at Beef & Liberty was good enough for Hong Kong standards, and the prices were reasonable. The beef burger we ordered was the best one I have had in Hong Kong recently - it seems like this new kid on the block is a worthy rookie!

We ordered the following:

Classic ($88) - this is the most traditional burger on the menu, comprised of beef, butter lettuce, tomato, red onion and served with thinly sliced pickles on the side. The quality of the beef really shone through - it was lean, and juicy and the patty had a nice seared, crisp exterior. Combined with the soft fluffy bun, this was greatly satisfying.

Black Pepper - Burger in a Bowl ($108 + $20) - for those on a low carb diet, they may opt for their burger patty to be served on a bed of greens instead. This burger consisted of beef, crushed peppercorns, cheddar, rocket and onion jam, and was again, served with pickles on the side. The beef continued to impress, but the additional condiments did not add much to the overall package. Personally, I would prefer the classic version instead.

It may sound counterintuitive, but keeping up a healthy diet depends on not overly restricting oneself. The important thing is to make smarter choices when we do need to indulge - and it's nice to know I can head to Beef & Liberty then.

On the menu it actually says Korean sauce so I was expecting the sauce to taste of kimchi.
However it was just sweet and sour sauce which matched it better because not everyone likes kimchi.
The chicken wings had a lovely light crisp coating.

It was hard choosing the burgers because I wanted to try the chicken, lamb and vegetarian.
You can also order the burger in a bowl without the bun which is served on a bed of luscious salad!!

A meaty burger with melted cheese with refreshing pickles that they pickle themselves.

Falafel burger:
The veggie burger was impressive, it was not just on the menu to please the vegetarians.
I was compelled to try this because I love falafel.
The falafel burger had a falafel patty, sesame sauce, pickles, butter lettuce, tomato and harissa yoghurt.

The burger was tastier than I imagined and better than the beef because you could taste cumin and other spices.
The chef might be offended by this comment but it reminds me of UK's McDonalds veggie burger but tastier.

I was really looking forward to dessert because of the apple pie and the cookie was served in a skillet.
Not many places in Hong Kong use the skilet apart from Green waffle diner and The salted pig.
When they serve the desserts, they pour the sauces from the saucepan infront of you.

I've never tried this before but it was really nice because the cookie was soft and chewy and the cream was just the thickest cream emulsion you could ever get with an amazing taste.

然後HIM選點的三色奶昔 ($68) 也上檯了,甜魔媽媽分別試了CEO及文迪的雲尼拿味奶昔,以及Ivan的朱古力味奶昔;前者帶有點點雲尼拿籽在內,味道天然香甜,十分吸引,但酷愛朱古力味的媽媽當然更愛朱古力奶昔的超香濃、濃稠與馥郁,那感覺有點似在吃XTC的特濃朱古力味雪糕! 馬上又加點一杯朱古力,飲得十分痛快,筆時也在回味~~~~

然後主角的漢堡也上檯了,這是點了兩份的煙肉芝士漢堡 ($108),賣相是吸引極了,但其實吃來中間牛肉不夠juicy,重點是調味太輕,其實沒有多少味道;芝士看似豐富,但味道也不夠濃烈,以此價位來講口味稍嫌單薄了些,有些失望。

另一款是炸雞肉漢堡 ($82),要讚雞肉炸得不油,份量也夠多,加上火箭菜的配搭也較為清新,不過雞肉本身可以再juicy一些,cajun aloli醬也可以再多些。

相比主打的漢堡,其實甜魔媽媽反而更愛這裡的薯條,特別這客看似簡單的Liberty薯條 ($28),成品粗身、外脆內軟糯可口,十分出色。而每客薯條還附一份自選醬汁,當日選了微辣滋味的Cajun Aloili醬,以及清新可口的薄荷青瓜乳酪醬,兩者都與薯條十分匹配好吃!

也講講味道方面,它的美式濃甜口味雖然不差,加上香滑的奶油更加吸引,不過那質感其實是太硬也實了。相比之下,Mrs Fields的曲奇會更加出色呢。

不過招牌的曲奇餅都不算差了,如果與這款Apple Pie with Creme Anglaise ($58) 相比,因為它真是質感粉糊,一PAT野又十分的韌口難咬,完全唔知想點.... 超難吃!!!

此店不收加一,但埋單也要人均$173,其實是不太抵食。其實當日的下場Cafe Deadend會來得精彩很多,不過由於天氣不穩,帶著Chloe妹妹媽媽不敢冒險,只有放棄了。無論如何,感謝食友的心意手信,十分美味,回家後給小甜魔囝囝帶來不少驚喜呢!

To get our night started, we started perusing the drinks (alcoholic) menu. For drinks, Beef & Liberty offers a locally brewed beer on tap as well as other craft beers and spiked milkshakes (ooh). I'm more of a cocktails person though so I ordered the East Side ($70) - a classic Southern drink with citrus, mint and cucumber. I love this drink at Lily & Bloom and I felt that the drink was decently executed here as the flavors were rightfully balanced.

The other signature cocktail I tried was the Modern Moonshine ($90) with bourbon whiskey and gin mixed together with fresh homemade lemonade. The smell was strong but the drink went down quite smoothly, so it was pleasant to drink as well.

For appetizers, we tried all 3 on the menu starting with the crispy chicken wings ($62). Inspired by the Korean-style fried chicken, the wings came drizzled with a spicy and tangy sauce that was simply hard to resist! l found the fried batter to be too thick for my taste though as parts of it would come off every time I took a bite.

Cobblers are usually served as desserts but the sweet corn cobbler ($38) here was a savory dish with jalapeno and dahl mixed with corn. The resulting flavors were deliciously sweet and spicy while I love the crunchy texture of the dahl!

We saved the best for last as the sticky rib fingers ($68) was oh so scrumptious! The slow roasted ribs were tender and moist while the honey bbq marinade was finger-licking awesome! Again, the crunchy dahl was a nice touch as it just added another dimension of texture onto the ribs.

Moving onto the burgers! The bacon cheese burger ($108) was hands-down my favorite out of the 4 burgers that we tried. I had ordered my beef to be cooked medium and it arrived as requested with a pinkish center. The beef was flavorful and moist while the candied bacon was an unexpected delight! I love bacon (who doesn't?) and the sweet and crispy bacon just enhanced the flavors of the burger dramatically.

The falafel burger ($78) was the only vegetarian burger on the menu and it was surprisingly tasty as well! I've never had falafel in the form of a patty before but it actually worked as a burger.The deep-fried patty was crunchy with delicate flavors from the chickpeas and spices.

I was really looking forward to the lamb burger ($95) which was cooked medium as well. Although the meat was quite tender, I found the flavors to be underwhelming and not really gamey. They had this cucumber mint yogurt sauce that went perfectly with this burger though.

They also had this option where you can choose to have burger in a bowl so it comes with salad instead of buns - which is great if you're watching your carbs intake. We tried the chicken burger in a bowl ($92) which arrived with a piece of fried chicken breast sitting on tender leaf salad. The chicken was adequately tender and moist, but I felt it could have used some sauce on it as the flavor of the chicken itself wasn't that strong. Perhaps some of that Korean spicy sauce?

For sides, we tried both the sweet potato fries and liberty fries. All fries come with your choice of sauces which include cajun aioli, mayo, house BBQ, and cucumber mint yogurt. I love the sweet potato fries as they were crunchy with a subtle sweet taste which didn't even need any of the sauces for flavoring. The liberty fries were standard but weren't crispy enough for my liking.

To round up our evening, we ordered the warm skillet cookie & cream ($48) for dessert and it was simply irresistible!! The chocolate chip cookie was thick and warm while crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. The best part was the cream that was poured all over the cookie! The greedy side of me thinks that this dessert would have been even more perfect with some ice cream on the side as well!

Overall, the food at Beef & Liberty was excellent while the ambiance was perfect for a casual night out. Prices are reasonable especially if you get the All Day Sets with burger, fries/salad, and drink for $125-$135 which is available on weekdays. I also love the offer of filtered water for $8 with $5 to donation to help reduce carbon footprint!

Crispy Chicken Wings 韓式炸雞翼 $62: 6.5分, 頭盤要了兩款, 先來的是韓式炸雞翼, 其實就是炸雞翼加上韓式辣醬. 雞翼是炸得比較乾身, 還算香脆, 而韓式辣醬的辣度其實是相當輕宜, 就算一向怕辣的我也不覺得辣呢.

Bacon Cheese 煙肉芝士漢堡 $108: 4.5分, 到了主菜方面, 在Beef & Liberty, 唯一的選擇就是吃漢堡, 不過店方的選擇委實不少, 一共有八個選擇, 總有一款合您意吧. 我們五個人, 就分吃三客吧, 而其中兩客的配額就留給煙肉芝士漢堡. 材料包括有牛肉餅, 車打芝士, 煙肉, 煙肉醬, 以及酸瓜等等. 份量相當大, 如果一個人吃的話, 吃完這客漢堡就應該甚麼也吃不下了.

當然要先講講主角, 那塊牛肉餅, 用上來自澳洲塔斯曼尼亞的出品, 肉味不太濃, 更重要的是烤得不夠香口, 火候明顯過火了, 要了medium, 但出來的效果起碼是medium well, 令人失望. 聽總管講, 他上次來的時候水準是比較好, 是否這天廚房失準了? 煙肉也不太對辦, 太乾了, 基本上是很難去咬開. 不過芝士配漢堡, 還是不敗的組合, 否則大家也不會嚷著要有芝士的選擇啦.

Chicken 脆炸雞肉漢堡 $82: 5分, 不想全部三款漢堡也是牛, 第三款漢堡就來一客脆炸雞肉漢堡吧. 用上美國雞胸肉去炸, 又是炸得太乾了, 相當鞋口. 還好的是配上的椰菜沙律及火箭菜是很爽口的, 而奇榛蛋黃醬亦幾惹味的.

Liberty Fries Liberty 薯條 $28: 4.5分, 配菜方面, 當然要吃吃薯條, 漢堡的好拍檔當然永遠是薯條呢. 這裡的出品, 新鮮炸起, 當然是熱辣辣, 很脆身, 但又實在是炸得太乾了, 影響了食味. 另外, 大家可以從四款醬汁中揀選一款, Min姐的選擇是薄荷青瓜乳酪, 味道酸酸的, 好像跟薯條不太匹配, 結果連Min姐自己也不點這款醬汁了.

Warm Skillet Cookie & Cream 暖曲奇配奶油 $48: 5分, 到了甜品的環節, 先來的就是暖曲奇配奶油, 店員在我們面前倒下奶油, 不過好像實際意義不太大呢, 在廚房預先倒下也沒大問題呀. 曲奇帶點暖身, 但就實在太硬, 我還是喜歡吃鬆脆一點的曲奇, 現在這個格式就不太合我意, 而加上奶油之後, 味道會是香甜一點的.

Apple Pie w/ Creme Anglaise $58: 0分, 另外一款甜品就是蘋果批, 賣相是相當奇怪, 個批是完全不脆, 熱度亦不對辦, 蘋果是偏酸了. 加上Creme Anglaise, 更讓整客甜品濕濕的, 很難入口, 唉! 還是總管夠精明, 一口也沒有吃呢.

來到Beef & Liberty, 當然是以漢堡先行, 怎知道是日吃到的煙肉芝士漢堡跟脆炸雞肉漢堡皆是強差人意的, 而甜品的水準更是相當令人失望. 服務方面, 店員的態度是相當差勁, 撞到我之後, 再差點撞到文迪, 還要非常不客氣, 半句道歉也沒有. 價位方面, 埋單每人$143, 計及這個地段及環境, 還算合理的, 但就實在沒有再來的原因了.

I have not visited this restaurant but I wanted to try.  So i made a reservation on its web site for lunch at 12:00.  I immediately received back a confirmation email but there was a remark stating that they appreciate i give the table back in 55 minutes.    I called the restaurant and the lady told me that they have this two round policy so every bookings are limited to 55 minutes.  I don't know if this also applies to dinner.  I then talked to the manager about this and he said that most resta

沒有那種邊說邪惡,邊在吃著的情況!
麵包則算挺身而具麥香,但不好的牛肉扒,多好的麵包也是徒然!

薯條則炸得金黃且每條也非常完整,入口香脆而具濃濃薯香,
吃得出用上了大量薯泥去做,真材實料!
除茄汁外,
亦另附自選醬汁,奇榛蛋黃醬帶點鹹香,亦夠濃郁,

特愛當中的雞肉,表面燒得微焦香,肉質嫩滑柔軟,比剛才吃到的漢堡肉好多了!
里面還有炸過的麵條,
幼嫩帶爽的醃竹筍,清新的青瓜混合芝麻醬,
惹味而口感豐富的沙律,不錯!

餐廳用餐環境舒適,不設加一(未知只是午市時段,還是全日!)
沙律及薯條均有水準,會有再來的可能,
但該不會再點漢堡了...

If only J has made her hatred for Chinese food less explicit, we wouldn't have the chance to go to the recently opened Beef & Liberty for her sort-of farewell lunch last weekend. Nestled on top of the Pizza Express on Star Street in Admiralty, most of us are misled by its name and thought it's a burger joint run by the Liberty Exchange group, but Beef & Liberty is actually a Shanghainese brand which is known for using 100% Australian grass-fed cattle for its high quality burgers, or so it claims.

The weather was rather cool and gloomy that day. Yves and Brown Sugar, being their sporty-selves, suggested we walk from Causeway Bay to the restaurant which seemed far at first, but it only took us around 20 minutes to get there in the end. When we arrived at the building, we saw T standing at the entrance for Pizza Express, looking clueless by himself. It turned out that to be able to get up to Beef & Liberty on 3/F, we needed to use the elevator at Pizza Express, and this was confusing.

Once the elevator opened to 3/F, a friendly waitress greeted us with a smile and led us to our booth next to the window. Although the restaurant wasn't a big place, its high ceilings and decoration rendered a casual and hip vibe. The booth was however quite small for 6 people. When we saw that there was a very reasonably priced "All Day Set" on the menu, we were quite excited until C drew our attention to the smaller print underneath which stated that "All Day Set" was not available on weekends, which was a total bummer! As J and Julie were "fashionably/excusably/absolutely" late again, we decided to order some drinks first. The price tags of this place were on the hefty side and lunch was priced at around $200 to $250 per person.

(1) The drinks we ordered failed on multiple levels and it was definitely not the best way to start our meal. The Liberty Iced Peppermint Tea ($32) Brown Sugar ordered looked good but tasted like normal iced tea soaked in peppermint leafs with too much ice.

(2) We knew we wouldn't be getting freshly squeezed lemonades for the Liberty Fresh Lemonade ($32) but this un-fresh drink could use a more suiting name: iced lemon water. It was so tasteless and bland, and we were disappointed to tears to have to pay for this.

(3) Our table of 6 decided to order some starters to share. The Crispy Chicken Wings ($62/4 pieces) with Korean spicy sauce were intensely satisfying. The size for each chicken wing was big enough. Although the use of Korean spicy sauce was perhaps inspired by the widely popular Korean TV show, we were certainly blown away by the alluring spiciness and the delightfully crispy skin. Speaking as a lover for wings, this dish was absolutely enticing for my tastebuds and was easily one of the most memorable dishes!

(4) The Sticky Rib Fingers ($68) were slow roasted US pork ribs covered in honey bbq marinade and spring onions. But there was just simply much more bone than meat for this dish with an overwhelming taste of honey sauce which made my fingers fairly sticky.

(5) Julie, being just back in town, went for the classic Cheese Burger ($92) with beef, cheddar cheese, butter lettuce, pickles, and house BBQ sauce. You can tell the waitress how cooked you want your beef to be and Julie opted for Medium Rare. The burger was accomplished where the beef was exquisitely juicy and tender, while melted cheddar cheese and the house BBQ sauce composed a complex and fine taste! Though we couldn't tell the difference between their grass-fed beef and the other ones (i.e. the grain-fed ones), we were satisfied but we just wish the portion could be bigger!

(6) Yves and J ordered the same Cheese Burger but they added extra $20 for it to be served in a bowl. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this concept, it is a more healthy option for those counting carbs, and the Cheese Burger would come with a tender leaf salad without the buns! But we couldn't help but wish the salad could use more salad dressing or some more citrus elements to help balance the fattiness of the beef and they could also keep the house BBQ sauce too!

(7) The Bacon Cheese Burger ($108) T and C ordered was delicious. The beef was tender and moist, and the bacon had a fabulously crispy and chewy texture, and they were always a fantastic match to me! The cheese and house bbq sauce further accentuated the indulgent flavours!

Burgers at Beef & Liberty were delicious but they were not particularly outstanding. We don't need to be having top quality beef burgers to enjoy a meal- most meals I have are far from good or healthy but I like them and I enjoy them. Beef & Liberty's biggest disappointment is wasting a perfectly good opportunity to become the next hit burger joint in Hong Kong and being unable to live up to its expensive price tags and our high expectations it set up. If only the dishes were worthy of the restaurant, it does just about everything right -- the decoration, the service and the goodwill idea. For a farewell party, we were happy with its ambience. For a burger place, it is just a blank void as vacuous as the brand itself.

One of my friends said the following to me about Beef & Liberty: "Beef and Liberty is the real deal. Go soon and go often." First complaint: yes, I know I should read the menu more carefully, but for whatever reason I assumed a burger would come with the minimal toppings: lettuce, tomatoes and onions. The cheeseburger comes with a miniscule amount of lettuce and that's it. It comes with some sweet pickles, but sweet pickles are also against the tradition of my people. Seriously, sweet pickles? On a burger?

Second complaint: I ordered my burger cooked "medium." By any stretch of the imagination, that is not what I got.

This is probably just a personal preference thing, but I found the patty too "smooth." That is, the meat was ground so finely it had little resistance to a bite, and somehow felt less substantive. There was nothing wrong with the flavor, however. It was nice and genuinely meaty.

The cheese was good and plentiful but not very powerful flavor-wise. The bun was tasty and nicely grilled.

It was good, but it won't be occupying my dreams. B
Fries w/ Cajun Aioli

I heard reports that the fries were too crunchy, but I did not experience that. They were nice and soft on the outside, fluffy on the inside. You get to choose from four dipping sauces, and we picked the cajun aioli. I mostly used the ketchup on the table, but despite my aversion to mayo on fries, the cajun aioli was pretty good if used in moderation. On the whole, I liked the fries. Good, B+

Young Master Ale is a HK microbrew. I'd seen signs for it but I never had one until I came to Beef & Liberty, where it's on draft. Unfortunately, I have to say it's not very good. It tasted like grass clippings. Have you ever had Fat Tire? Like that. Drinkable is about all I can say for it. D

I'm technologically inept and I cannot figure out how to rotate this picture. So here it is, an upside-down photo of my wife's burger. She got the green chili burger: it's pretty much like the cheeseburger, but it comes with green chilis and mayo. I still don't understand this thing about not letting you pick which condiments go on your burger. We're not at McDonald's.

She gives it an A-. She ordered medium and had a much less pink burger than mine. She's fine with may and sweet pickles (smh). But she agrees that there should have been more veggies.

Look, I may seem a little harsh above, but I do think these are good burgers. I *also* think there's room for improvement. I think the consistency of how well done the burgers are will probably iron itself out in time.

As for the toppings and condiments, Beef & Liberty should really take a page from every mid range and above restaurant serving burgers in the US. Put ketchup and mustard and bbq sauce on the table, and bring out an optional tin of mayo with each burger. Then people can choose. Put lettuce (large amounts) and tomatoes and onions on the side of each burger and let people add the ones they want. Currently you have to pay $30 to get tomatoes and onions on a cheeseburger!
题外话/补充资料: You should make a reservation before going here. I'm quite serious about that. When you walk in, they ask you "name on the reservation?" They aren't even countenancing the idea that you could be a walk-in. There's not service charge but they encourage you to tip. That is one page HK establishments should NOT take from the US. Tipping is such an awful custom, please just give me a service charge.

Classic Beef Burger w/ Cheese, a side of Black Pepper Fries | The beef patty is perfectly cooked. Soaked in the cheese and sauce. It's great...but a bit on the smaller size. Perhaps it was because we split everything. The fries were alright...but nothing too spectacular!

Lamb Burger | $95 HKD | A New Zealand lamb patty with harissa yogurt, parsley, butter lettuce, tomato and a special sauce. The lamb burger was loaded with flavour, but not my cup of tea! But the others loved it.
Overall, Beef and Liberty is a great spot to go with your friends. It's a loud, fun environment. Great for grub, drinking, and chatting! Food itself is cheap. But somehow we were still hungry. I'm still hunting for my burger joint in Hong Kong! I'll probably be back though! If you haven't gone. You should go try.

餐廳提供了一個全日套餐,價錢只需$125up,當中包了一個漢堡、薯條/沙律和飲品;價錢上來說是非常吸引的,很多餐廳的一份漢堡也要百多元,但味道只是一般,所以找天有空我還是會再來的。

真的很fat的fries,看到都流口水;薯條薯味濃郁,外層香脆,因為很肥大,所以當中包著了很多呈粉糯的薯仔,非常的美味。

Beef & Liberty用了來自塔斯曼尼亞的無激素草飼牛,而牛肉餅是用了三種不同部位的牛肉混合而成的,口感更豐富;餐廳每天於午餐和晚餐時段都會製造新鮮的牛肉餅,以確保每位食客都能得到最新鮮的享受。
先來一份Classic的burger,牛肉味道非常濃郁,質感亦非常好,肉質不會太碎,帶點嚼勁之餘亦軟稔,還有陣陣的油香,非常的美味;另外這裡用了自家製的麵包,麵包外層非常脆口,質感十分煙韌,充滿了麵包香;如果可以,真想外賣這些麵包。

沒甚麼食店會提供這款羊肩肉漢堡,羊肩肉比牛肉的鬆散,當中混合了很多香料,帶有中東的色彩,羊味濃而不羶,吃時塗上tzatziki,,帶著清新薄荷香,更能清新味蕾;既特別又美味的漢堡。

最後還有一款Bacon Cheese Burger;因為剛才的Classic我們選了medium well,所以這個選了medium,吃著我們才發覺我們的熟成度點錯了,因為每次在外享用burger時,那片牛肉餅的質素太一般,不點熟些的話味道會很差勁,入不到口;但因為這裡的牛肉餅沒有用上劣質的牛肉,而且餐廳是用烤的方法而不是用煎的方法來烹調牛肉餅,所以即使點生一些會更美味更juicy。
Bacon Cheese中的bacon非常香脆,鹹香度亦剛好,更能突出牛肉餅的味道,當中還有cheddar cheese,如果芝士份量再多些會更香氣樸鼻呢。
除了很喜歡這裡的漢堡外,還很欣賞店方的自家醃製青瓜,青瓜味道鮮甜,厚薄度剛好,十分爽口;平日的我不太吃生的青瓜,覺得味道不太好,而這裡的醃料則能把青瓜的美味突出;所以我把所有青瓜吃掉了。

Walking in, I realized the meaning of liberty in its name. It's rare you have an open space in Hong Kong, and Beef & Liberty have obviously put some thought into the interior. High ceilings and lavish use of panel glass create the impression that you're actually sitting outdoors. The space is light, airy and spacious, plus you get the tranquilly of the Star Street neighbourhood just out the window. I’ve found my new weekend spot!

Here, they pride on having created the perfect burger, which to some extent is true. There are not many places that can proclaim their beef is from hormone-free grass-fed cattle! Their patties are quite lean and lack in juiciness, but makes up for that by packing a good meaty flavour; something I wouldn’t mind returning for! We sampled the Black Pepper Burger ($108) and the Green Pepper Burger ($98). These essentially had similar flavours despite the difference in the auxiliary ingredients; the key differentiating factor was the black pepper, which was overwhelmingly strong towards the end. (Also explains why their choice of vegetables was rocket, where the green pepper burger used the much milder butter lettuce). The Peppery sharpness of the first burger is undisputedly the best accompaniment to beer. I had the Young Master Classic Ale 330ml ($55), which is a richer beer with a hint of honey overtones. It's grrrreaaat!

The Black Pepper Fries ($30) are a bit of a letdown. It is essentially normal fries with black pepper grated over it – I could have ordered the regular and done it myself, there was a black pepper grater right on the table! More importantly, these were neither crispy nor crunchy. It gets presentation points, but no points from my taste buds =(

Don’t be fooled by its mundane sounding name, the Mixed Tender Leaf Salad ($70) surprises on several counts! The greens are doused in a Thai-inspired shallot dressing, which is better than it looks; the peanuts add an extra depth to the texture and flavor. Yum! Another worthy mention is the innocent looking bread. This is probably the best toast I’ve had so far! It’s crunchy and has a bit of a burnt charcoal taste while buttery as well. Order this salad, even if just for the toast.

Health! Where else can you find tasty burgers that are lean! And indoor picnicking, because that’s what it feels like!
