監獄內的濃情朱古力

在堅道上的Awfully Chocolate,外表如監獄一樣,加上身處白色袍的店員,如果你說是集中營之實驗室,我想也有人信.一早吃過Awfully的蛋糕,今次便品嘗其雪糕,果然同蛋糕的朱古力一樣地濃,濃情到化不開.而且夠苦,雪糕本身亦滑,不會是擲死人的硬崩崩貨色.這才是吃朱古力雪糕嘛.用朱古力來比喻愛情,本身朱古力具備催情作用,甜味直上大腦之後,那種浪漫幸福感覺亦隨之產生,不過少食多滋味.做任何事也適可而止,如果一過量,就好像上年文華快船廊的朱古力buffet一役,沉淪到拿著皮鞭蠟燭,與朱古力大玩SM了.

當朱古力與上巧克力(2)

想不到,同一天會食到不同有名的朱古力.但今次好明顯的珠玉在前. 全巧克力,太過黏同濃同漏.... 漿得成口都係,而且甜得來沒有了喜歡朱古力的香.而蛋榚底同台灣出名的蜂蜜蛋糕無兩樣失望了.

想不到,同一天會食到不同有名的朱古力.
但今次好明顯的珠玉在前.

全巧克力,太過黏同濃同漏....

漿得成口都係,而且甜得來沒有了喜歡朱古力的香.而蛋榚底同台灣出名的蜂蜜蛋糕無兩樣失望了.

grab and eat!

愛吃雪糕，說過好多次，ice cream一定吃HD，gelato一定吃cova，今次男友帶我來，除了買all chocolate cake之外就一試black chocolate ice cream。黑朱古力，味道好濃，口感極香滑，是頗unique的味道，跟HD的不一樣，很impressive；all chocolate cake是朋友的生日禮物，朱古力一樣夠香濃滑，實在很好吃。吃罷，極guilty，on diet的我現在發神經了嗎?! 一日內吃了好多古古力，跑多一個鐘步都補唔番了。但在香港找到如此特別的雪糕，實是叫人驚喜，i will be back!

Themed shops have always been disappointing, especially when the theme does not necessarily go with the product the shop is selling. I put up with boutiques doubling as a cafe (which happens to serve good coffees), and then, earlier I wrote about Satay King's overboard post-Pirates nightmares. When I got an email from Awfully Chocolate about the opening of a second store on Caine Street, Central with a concept of "prison", I was overwhelmed, what could Awfully Chocolate possibly have to do with

I put up with boutiques doubling as a cafe (which happens to serve good coffees), and then, earlier I wrote about Satay King's overboard post-Pirates nightmares. When I got an email from Awfully Chocolate about the opening of a second store on Caine Street, Central with a concept of "prison", I was overwhelmed, what could Awfully Chocolate possibly have to do with prison, except the new location being near to one, and its product being "really really dark"?

This time around I missed the opening party I was invited to, despite my intended pleasure to put on an orange work suit and my Crocs Bistro to look like inmates of some sort. Costume party was never my thing, plus I've already had a sample of their cakes in some special occasions with no pictures taken. So here I was, this day, with a coupon emailed to me in my hand, on a Buy One Get One Free Icecream scoop, walking into the brightly-lit cell for its HEI icecream, which was so far quite raved by other chocolate lovers.

I entered the shop, hoping to encounter an inmate of some sort in striped clothing and a number in the front of the clothes. Not a chance either, instead a young girl in black greeted me. We exchanged a few details regarding the new shop, the concept of prison and all that. It was quite appropriate, with minimal decor except picket-fence white brick walls and black font on the wall. There there are, the counter and a fridge holding two containers of icecream. It doesn't look very dark and chocolatey as I imagined it would be (I was comparing it with XTC's Chocolate Gelato). This one is more on the harder frosty side on the looks.

I ordered my double scoop of HEI icecream, named after its "dark chocolatiness", and paid for the price of one. The lady scooped with half her strength to achieve two perfect globes and squeezed them into the Chinese take-out containers printed "awfully chocolate". The take-out container was nothing new to me, in fact, I could remember vividly of icecream and takeout containers going hand in hand together, with that little handle to go with it. So cute and dainty indeed. The plastic spoon with the colour of bright jade with a pointy end to pierce into the hardened ice cream and scoop out for pleasurable enjoyment.

I spooned a little and placed that on my tongue and ready for it to melt. I felt a sharp surge of chill from the iccream as I slowly savour the little bits of chocolate and cream that composed of the indulgent treat. It coats my tongue not with sweetness, but with a sense of richness not unlike sweet cream except richer and darker and more complex in flavour. It didn't have the homogenous texture like most ice creams, yet the chocolate flavour was not in layers either. It's the strangest taste in chocolate icecream, as if chocolate and cream interchange positions alternately. Chocolate, cream, chocolate, cream and at the end back to the ticklish tinge of chocolate bitterness at the end to round up the flavours on the palates. The texture and taste are appropriate without being overly icy or too sweet. It's a nice break away from the tub-versions you pick up from the supermarket frozen food section indeed.

Somehow it was the sweetness that lingered upon, that wasn't really the big finish intended for a place with a prison-theme, was it? Perhaps 2 scoops of icecream was too much even for a weekend morning, or perhaps it is the sweet finish that reminds us about second chances -- and possibly many more to come if we do good, or the best we can do in discovering many things in life, including ourselves.

    接女友放工，她問我吃不吃雪糕，我吃，她就領導我去避靜的街，入了間平平無奇的店，外表似監獄，內有兩名獄卒，和一邊卡位，黑白配搭，行過都唔知係間雪糕店，得一款味道，朱古力，咁串，但串得起，好濃烈，好軟滑，猶如bb肌膚，正…心靈得到滿足。

    'Awfully'的魅力

    月初路經此店, 很想一試這awfully chocolate, 但剛巧店員不在, 隔了幾天再去終於吃到了店子全白色, 店內有一白色長櫈可坐, 一樣是賣3種不同口味的朱古力蛋糕及黑朱古力雪糕, 店員不斷介紹各產品~這新加坡品牌雪糕, 是從台灣空運到港, 要了一球hei朱古力雪糕雪糕微帶朱古力香, 入口很滑, 瞬間即溶, 朱古力味隨即散發, 味道頗濃, 不過我覺得朱古力味再濃一些會更好, 感覺不是太awful, 不過用上awfully這字殺了不少朱古力迷...吃畢感到很渴, 快回公司吧在猶豫給笑面還是ok的時候, 最後因為包裝及餐具加了分~
