Lunching at Amici has its charm-- an upstairs Sports Bad disguising a well rounded Italian menu with its red couches and overhead flat screen television for telecasting nightly soccer matches. Primi sounded promising, as calamari are fried and crunchy when they are brought to the table, not to mention piping hot. The set lunch is a steal with salad, main and beverage. The set lunch is a steal with salad, main and beverage. If you fancy pizza, Amici features at least 14 different choices from vegetarian to meat lovers on thin crusts. You're not going to be o-d. with cheese and bread with the pizza, as the toppings play the leading roles here. A rare find is the white pizza, with no tomatoes, and instead of mozzarella, the crust is generously smothered with Genovese Pesto and olive oil, with an additional sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese and toasted pine nuts.
While service may be slow, be impressed with the ample selections of beers for the sports fan. Leather couches are comfy but make sure you arrive early with a reservation for dinner (not a must, but if you do you will not end up with 30+ minutes of waiting time). Not a quiet place in the evening, it is, afterall, a sports bar. Expect team supporting cheers from crowds who munch on calzones and pasta than fries and burgers.
