I can't say that this is the worst Thai restaurant in town because I haven't tried all, but it's bad enough to push me to write my first review on Openrice. I came here with my gf uniquely because the restaurant where we were supposed to go was fully booked. We didn't want to walk too much so we stopped by here, there were several customers and they didn't look that sad.The menu was not different as any Thai restaurant in HK, obviously priced as the area. The menu was not different as any Thai restaurant in HK, obviously priced as the area. I'm a Pad Thai fan but I noticed that here was made with dried shrimps instead of the usual fried prawns. So we decided for other choices.
- Chicken sateh (but we ordered beef and chicken...)
It was probably the best dish, even if as it happens usually NOT grilled (or barbecued that is the meaning of the word 'sateh') but stirfried. Anyway, it was OK, 6 big skewers, juicy and with a thick tasty sauce.
- Fried squids in chilli and salt
Average-bad. It was quite smelly (that put me off) and tasteless. The chilli seemed to be there for decoration as its flavour was undetectable in the dish. In many local places you can have the same for half the price (it was around 95$ here). The rubbish bins enjoyed half of the dish.
- Fried noodles with beef (with a beautiful Thai name that I don't remember, chosen in place of the not inviting Pad Thai) terribly disappointing, flat noodles with artificial mushroom flavour, tough beef and kale. Any 30$ 'Cha Chan Teng' beef noodles can beat this in any way. Worst noodles of any kind tried in HK in these 7 years I've been here!
- Kale (Choi Sam) average good, obviously overpriced.
- 2 green coconuts (even this was tasteless)
Total $391
Never again!
PS Service was OK, not special, they served quickly but they had a dish wrong.
