On my colleague's last day, we had shabu-shabu buffet here. Even though we had to wait for 30 minutes to get our table of 2 on this Friday night, my ex-colleague was enthusiastic to try this place so we chatted our time away reading the menu and trying to figure out what we are going to have.There are four different types of beef set and 8 soup bases to choose from. There are four different types of beef set and 8 soup bases to choose from. We originally opted for the middle priced $278 but upon discovering that the Supreme Japanese Black Wagyu Buffet Course was just $40 dollars more than the one without the "Supreme", we went for this $318 beef set where we could also have multiple servings along with one serving of pork loin and pork belly and a bonus plate of beef tongue.
It was very steamy and crowded inside. We had shabu shabu soup base which was initially very salty but as more food ingredients were poured it, it became really sweet. The thinly sliced Supreme beef wasn't that special but at least it wasn't taut or weird. Nevertheless, it was a mistake to dunk the fatty pork into the pot which made the soup really greasy. The free beef tongue was too yucky for me to sample either.For the buffet items, there are various types of fishballs, meatballs, sausages; veggies like radish, mushroom, carrot, corn, tomato, bean curd and lettuce; there are noodle, rice and curry too. However, it was off-putting to find some blue thingy mixed in the meatball. For beverages, you can have as many soft drinks or canned Asian flavor tea or juices as you like and there are 6 Haagen-Dazs ice-cream flavors with toppings provided.
The dining time is limited to 90 minutes which is too rushed for me. We started shabu-shabu at 8:20 pm and they timed us by giving us the bill. I don't mind coming here with friends but I wouldn't come here myself as my clothes stink afterward!
