Took a lazy Sunday afternoon stroll with wife to Regal Riverside Hotel in Shatin. We reached the hotel at 3:20 something and found that most of the restaurants are on hiatus in the afternoon, except Avanti Pizzeria and the L'eau. We were slightly amused by the free coffee and tea refill at the Avanti Pizzeria but finally decided to try out the L'eau for the first time. Alright, back to the food. The Thai food was no joke, literally on par with those found in high-end Thai diners. We adored the spring roll and especially the mini chicken wrapped in pandan leaf. The chicken wrap was so good that it brought back memories of us first trying this dish in Bangkok. The chicken was tender and scrumptiously wrapped in pandan leaf with a tinge of basil and other spices that I couldn't name. I was really blown away with my very first plate. I will totally give it full marks if the food could be a little bit warmer.
Another dish that I found surprisingly intriguing was the mushroom quiche puff. This miniature quiche looked cute with overflowing mushroom cream filling in a puff. I tried 2 of this little evil pastry coz it definitely did not pass the healthy check. The one-of-a-kind made-to-order congee was another highlight of this buffet. We often saw made-to-order crepe, omelette, pasta and many others, but not congee.
The Movenpick ice-cream stall was the real deal of this buffet. There were a total of 8 flavors. The ambitious us tried 6 of them, namely strawberry sorbet, passionfruit, yoghurt, Swiss chocolate, creme brulee, and maple walnut. You could feel the smoothness in the ice cream, the stimulating sorbet, and the refreshing aftertaste. We were so in love with Movenpick. The passionfruit and strawberry combo with fresh mango on the side were perfecto for a hot summer!
We tried out a couple more stuff from the glamorous dessert bar (like bread pudding, cheesecake, fruit tart, etc.), but but nothing was to be matched with Movenpick.
It was $168 per head. We got a 35% off paying with a HSBC card. What's big treat. They should have advertised it earlier. What on earth was going on with this hotel. It's like the third time that we learned about big saver right before getting the bill. After all, we can't complain more. A great place for afternoon dessert for sure~
