I was informed by friends that this was a very famous indian place.
Having lived in the UK most of my life, and been to India for holiday many times, when someone refers me a "really good indian" restaurant, I only expect it to be close to the average standard of what having a balti would be like in any typical balti houses in the UK.
When we received the menu, the appetisers were somewhat surprisingly traditional, but when we were ordering food, the curries and other main dishes were rather "Chinesesie-fied". Not saying that this is bad, but when I asked whether it was possible to change one of the mutton dishes to a chicken dish, it was a plain no...so my question was whether they cooked everything fresh or is it already pre-cooked curries that they heated up.
With this said, there were still some good dishes served, and I must say, majority of the quality came from the front when they use the traditional tandoori oven.
The Tandoori Chicken was awesome, tender, juicy, and well spiced.
When it came to the curry dishes, they were average, but accompanied with the fresh naans, I would say that this place is one of the better curry houses in HK.
p.s. If you are super picky...then please be informed that the food cooked here is of pakistan origin rather than southern indian origin.
