I seldom write food review as it's a lot of effort to write, even harder as I can't type chinese... but I just thought this place is worth sharing. My friend recommend me to this place several times as I thought I'll give it a try. Decor: I was quite surprised by the nice decor, there is indoor and outdoor seating area. I personally think Outdoor is better when the weather is nice and the atmosphere is quite cozy. The choice of music is also nice. The atmosphere is chilled and fun like attending a friend's party.Beverage: They have an extensive alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks menu. I ordered a Pineapple Sake, and was surprised by how strong it is. As usually cocktail is very sweet and watered down, their alcoholic drinks are the real thing, so if you crave for alcohol that's where you want to go.Food: We didn't bother to study the menu so the waiter kindly recommend some dishes which turns out to be great. This is very special and you can only find here, I think it's grilled egg in 腐皮 but the texture is unique, a must try. Razor Clam 蛏子 very large in size and very tasty! Very Yummy!spicy pork with Lychee inside- quite distinctive flavor. I personally can't eat anything spicy so I find it a little spicy. There is another variation of that which is 黒豚pork with 巨峰提子 Kyoho grapes, very interesting as it's sweet and salty at the same time so I recommend. This smell really good, it's mixed mushroom with a lot of BUTTER and cheese so it can be filling!Asparagus and pork. Juicy.Grilled Pineapple - I have an obsession with Pineapple so I like it very much, but be careful of the pineapple skin as it's yellow instead of the usual green color you may not see it in the dark. Cold dish, tofu with sea urchin as appetizer. Also another appetizer the waiter recommend was a chicken and cucumber salad which is quite refreshing as well.-------------There is a Facebook check in promotion FYI. 继续阅读

隐敝的川式/日式串烧食物质素如海鲜都不错营业时间长,开得够夜 (3 am!)环境舒适,有户外位,很适合饮酒畅谈。Yakitori/Sichuan Barbecue place; Many good quality seafood items;Comfy, Chill-out lounge with large drinks selection;Alfresco dining available - Open till very late! This was a complete random choice. We decided to use the OpenRice Map function to locate interesting skewer restaurants in the TST area. This only had two comments but were all positive so we decided to try it out.It turned out to be a very pleasant find. Located inside a commercial building, right above a "Japanese Members Only" Club with "Ma Ma Saki" in the house (I'm not sure whether its against the law in Hong Kong to have a "Japanese" or "Hong Kongers" only place - but I'm sure my wife won't let me check it out personally. )Decor:Anyway, the place was about half the size of "Hachirin". About 15 indoor table seats, 12 bar seats and, true to it's name, about 20 or more Alfresco tables. The friendly waiter/bar-tender didn't mind where we sat. He showed us the outdoor area. We had a quick look. Its a bit warm so we decided to stay inside. The indoor area was decorated more like a lounge than a restaurant with huge cushions and tropical plants. Gentle lighting with very smooth lounge music in the background. The interesting thing about this place is that they will dim the lights down and a partition will be drawn so you will not see the kitchen; transforming the whole place from a lounge-like restaurant into a bar that serves yakitori. A good concept nicely executed. There weren't many people sitting indoors at the time - just another two customers. However, the tables outdoor seemed quite popular, so booking is recommended. Drinks:The drink list was extensive - definitely more extensive than most bars in the area, probably a larger selection of wine than many bars at Tang Lung Street in CWB. It had at least 20 types of beer (two of those were draught Asahi and draught Kronenburg 1697), tons of red and white wine, sparkling wine, 15-20 types of sake, 2 types of sochu - glass is available, plenty of shots and cocktails. It's a proper bar. First things first, we each ordered a beer. HK$68 per pint for non-happy hour and HK$58 for happy hour.My wife really liked the Kronenburg Blanc - it's very sweet. It's almost taste like watermelon. The quibble I have with the drinks was that I prefer they serve it a bit faster. It took more than 6-7 minutes in a relatively empty bar for two beers. Selections:The menu was in Chinese and English. Other than various types of grilled vegetables and meat (especially lamb) which you find in Szechuan BBQ, they also had a limited selection of Japanese style yakitori items like tsukune (not available during our visit), chicken cartilage and asparagus wrapped in pork slices. There was a larger selection of grilled seafood (less than HK$60), which I could recommend. Uni Tofu:This came pretty quickly and was a good start. The uni (sea urchin) was fresh and creamy. The taste was pretty strong. The tofu was silky. It would be better if chilled longer. Still, not bad at all.(Surprisingly, Wara Wara's tofu uni was better than many Izakayas).Chives with Sichuan herbs:This is what I usually order in Sichuan BBQ places like "干杯" or "川烧". The Sichuan element is usually a generous amount of cumin (孜然) on most of the grill food. The focus is more on the ingredient and timing more than the sauce/condiments used.Grilled chives with cumin is a simple, reasonably priced but hearty item. The most important point is the freshness of the chives. These were decent and the pepper and cumin gave a lot of flavour to it. Warms you up too. I remember it was less than $25 for a pretty big plate. Worth a try.The skewer above the chives was lai chee wrapped by pork. I believe the lai chees were in season and were thus sweet and juicy. The slice of pork was relatively thick cut and quite tender. Recommended. Chicken cartilage:Standard Izakaya fare. Decent quality. Those were a bit small compared to those provided at "Wara Wara" but were crunchier and flavourful than those at "Watami".Always good with beer. Asparagus with pork:The asparagus was reasonably fresh and the pork was as good as those wrapping the lai chee, again, tender and had meat flavour. Quite good. Fried onsen tamago:If fried onsen tamago is your thing, there is no need to go all the way to Causeway Bay for it. The onsen tamago provided here was at least equal to, if not better than, those provided in the overhyped "Toba" in CWB. It's cheaper too.The egg taste was just as pronounced and the spring onions gave a kick to it. Not as oily or salty than those in Toba.Worth a try. Scallops:We were pretty happy with what we had so we decided to go for the higher risk items, namely, seafood. The scallops were good. Pretty big, meaty and reasonably tasty. It's grilled with garlic, ginger, a bit of soy sauce, spring onions and even a few shreds of saffron! I remember it was about $40-50 per scallop. Similar quality to many seafood restaurants around the TST area. Worth a try. Razor clams:We found this on the off-menu list. Reasonable price (about $50-60) for the size. It's grilled using a similar combination of spices like the scallops. Pretty fresh and meaty. Also worth a try! Lamb chop:Tender and grilled with a lot of Sichuan herb. Quite good. However, I remember it was more than $70 for this piece of lamb chop. I think it's a bit pricey but all in all, no complaints.Onigiri:Well, this was just average. There wasn't anything inside the grilled rice balls. It's essentially a rice ball mixed with furikake (the seaweed, sesame stuff you add on top of your bowl of Japanese rice) and then grilled. Not recommended.Nasu:We were absolutely stuffed but I'd still like to have something to go with my sochu (I can't remember the exact brand - they do it by glass too.)This was about HK$30 for a big eggplant grilled with a lot of garlic and chopped spring onions. Delicious! The skin of the eggplant was crispy and aromatic. This concluded a very nice evening. Conclusion:The food quality at "干杯" might be more consistent. However, the price is a bit more expensive than here. The seafood quality seemed better than "川烧". The ambience here is definitely the best of all three sichuan BBQ places in TST. Service was good - chilled but generally friendly. The bill came down to about HK$400 per head with all the food and a number of beers and sochus. The best thing about the restaurant is its convenient location, alfresco dining and most importantly, opening hours - it's open till about 3:00 a.m. with last order for food at about 2:00?! Great for a relaxed dinner, last night snacks or even just for drinks like a Hong Kong style izakaya!?Worth a try! 继续阅读
