This morning I wanted something hot and fresh for breakfast, so I suggested to take our baby JC for a walk and have breakfast at the Overseas Dragon. They have recently introduced their breakfast menu and I have been wanting to try it!
It is a Thursday morning, 3-4 tables are full, and the workers are wrapping dumplings inside. The environment is quite clean, the food is freshly made twice a day. One thing to complain is that their staff are, not unfriendly, but rather, distant.
We settled down and picked two breakfast sets:
1) Classic dumplings (8) and Corn Soup
2) Crispy bun with peanut butter and sweet n' condensed milk; hot soy milk
Corn Soup - I never tried their corn soup before but my friends who came said that it tasted exactly like what they had in Taiwan. So I thought I might as well have a try. Hot and tasty. The black pepper on top added a little kick in it. I would prefer a thicker and creamier soup, but it's really not bad at all!
Classic dumplings - We have tried the spicy Korean dumplings and Jade dumplings before, we liked those, but for breakfast, I was hoping for something less spicy. So I picked the classic ones. It arrived a couple minutes after I finished my soup. Not a long wait, but I would prefer having it a little sooner. The taste is great. Very meaty and juicy. The temperature is great - steamy hot! I like to eat the dumplings with their garlic paste and vinegar, it's really fresh and goes with the meat and the smooth wrappings.
JC Daddy said that the bun is really crispy (it's halved and toasted), but it would be better if they put more sauce on the top. The soy milk is great - JC Daddy is quite picky about soy milk, but he highly recommended the soy milk here.
Great place to have a cheap, quick breakfast.
We'll definitely come again.
