I made a special trip here as the Indian restaurant near my place had switched to another proprietor (which was a shame since they were of decent quality and price). I had the lunch special ($55) today and was quite disappointed due to the following reasons: 1) the Chicken Masala I had ordered was mediocre at best, the curry sauce was so watered down, mild (perhaps to suit the local palette), and generic that I would have been better off going to the supermarket and buying one of those pre-canned jars of Indian sauce to cook with at home. 2) the value for what you get is totally disproportional to the price paid almost to the point of being obscene, there were 4 small pieces of frozen chicken thigh meat (boneless, skinless) swimming in that aforesaid bland sauce, for 55 dollars I was expecting more, the peas inside the samosa was dehydrated to the point of being solid and crunchy when I tried to bite down on it, the rice served was just plain jasmine rice as opposed to basmati rice that one would have reasonably expected from a restaurant that proclaims to be serving authentic Indian cuisine 3) the service was largely non-existent, I was very much ignored and my server did not seem happy to see the customer (however, I did notice that they were more attentive and friendlier to the Caucasian male at the other table), and instead of being served Indian chai tea, I was given HK style milk tea instead (as they probably thought I couldn’t tell the difference between the 2 seeing that I was Chinese) 4) my stomach had been very upset afterwards and I had to spend some considerable time in my washroom when I got home. So in conclusion, I would not revisit again, and would probably head out to Wanchai or TST in hopes of finding real Indian food. If anyone knows of a place that serves REAL Indian food, please do let me know.

my family and i love curry a lot. we have tried a lot of indian restaurants which proclaimed themselves as truly authentic, and yet we did not like at all. we have even tried those at chung hing mansion in tst-they are okay, very authentic, but its not worth the transport to deliberately travel overseas just for a curry meal. why? its all because of this very authentic indian restaurant. with this within our walking distance, we dont have to go to tst ever again just for a good indian meal or whatsoever. we ordered:1. salad w/ some sort of dressing2. vege samosa3. tandoori lamb chop4. chicken in thick tomato sauce...it shd be Murgh Makhani.5. curry fish6. lamb biryani7. mango lassi8. naana total of seven dishes...we were apparently feeling quite hungry and a bit lost to have ordered so much. anyways, the samosa came first along with the salad. the samosa was good as always with the piping hot vege filling inside. the salad was truly good. it has a mysterious dressing over the chopped tomatoes, onions, carrots and so on. the tandoori lamb chop was tender, nicely grilled and marginated, NOT tough at all. it went very well with the mint sauce. a thumbs-up and a must try.the chicken Murgh Makhani-wahahaha, its a splendid dish to be eaten with rice. the sauce tasted very nice, with the sweetness of tomatoes and the aroma of the indian mix of herbs. the chicken strips were nice too. the curry fish-well, i forgot to take a picture of it, but its more spicy than the Murgh Makhani. its also good, but it didnt stand out. my dad loved the biryani a lot. he said it was very authentic, and the chunks of lamb within the rice were nice too.and the naan-it was freshly made, very nice. as for the mango lassi-it was a disappointment. i saw the man rushing in and out the kitchen with a tube of local-is it dairy farm or other brand?-plain yogurt and i suppose thats for my mango lassi. this is the first time i have mango lassi so i am not sure if it should taste like THIS, but i didnt expect something like a old plain mango yogurt drink that you can get by simply blending any ordinary yogurt with milk or water or whatsoever. i thought it would taste a bit more indian, instead of so locally hongkongese.all in all, apart from the mango lassi, the meal was excellent, especially the lamb chop. now who need to go to chung hing mansion for an indian meal with such a nice and authentic restaurant just 15 mins of walk away from home?
