一年之間,有兩個節日特別難想食什麼,其一是情人節,另外一個是聖誕節,一來要預先訂位,二來很多餐廳會推出很多華而不實的套餐,冠一個美名的什麼什麼情人大餐。今年本想和老婆到韓國館,可惜早已被訂滿,泡菜園的前身莊園數次光顧都感覺良好,所以選擇到這裡一試,亦可避開情人節套餐。前菜有八小碟,很快就清碟,沒有拍下相片。沒有烤小魚,而且這個價位的餐廳沒有免費添加前菜是有點兒失望的。前菜小碟們的味道很好,泡菜不太辣易入口。點了燒特級牛肋骨及燒烤拼盤,牛肋骨腌得很入味,我燒的是七成熟,烤得很香,吃一口肉汁滿溢,牛味香濃,令人百吃不厭。燒烤拼盤什麼也有,牛舌雖然很簿,燒一會兒也比較韌,如果提供厚身的會比較好。大蝦很新鮮,不是雪藏貨。牛豬雞也好,不是便宜貨式。另外點了個豆腐湯,一點不辣,豆腐極滑,滑不溜口,一啖豆腐一啖肉,感覺良好。埋單每人約三百元,捧腹而走。

因為之前回來光顧,呀朱媽送了一張VIP CARD給我 VIP可免加一!感覺到呀珠媽的親切,另外有一位男侍應反應快,冰雪聰明,值得表揚! 熱茶的味道獨特...侍應會不停加茶,勤快!泡菜味道好,可惜不是所有泡菜可添食,視乎貨源是否充足。店主應該預留多些薯仔,因為薯仔是我的最愛!今次二話不說,都是炆牛肋 ($150)!因為真的好味!湯依舊是濃, 在冰冷的天氣,一口熱湯令人精神為之一振。今次同樣一滴不剩!全部湯汁佐白飯($10),飽飽!強調:胡蘿白和紅棗吸收了湯的精華, 甘香具口感, 而且胡蘿白的草青味, 因為美味的肉汁, 全部蓋過, 只有香氣!餃子湯($120)有大量蔥蒜,要有心理準備(令人引起口氣的),味道可是令人振奮的!餃子內有豬肉、韭菜,十分濃郁。湯水有牛肉味道,香甜!簡單的小佈置,清雅。清潔的餐具,方便而令人安心。最害怕是油膩的桌面,但Kimchi Garen沒有這情況,當然,還是會有點油煙,但可以接受。

There is getting to be a lot of Korean restaurants in Hong Kong and out of the many to choose from, my sister and I chose Kimchi Garden. 

Decor & Hygiene:
The entrance was a narrow one, you'd probably miss it if you were not going there intentionally. Along the stairs to go up to the restaurant, there were quite a bit of newspaper/magazine cuttings about the restaurant, but it seems that not many openrice members have tried it. 
Upon getting in, we noticed a smell. It smelt like a place that has been closed up for a while and the air was not circulated. Although my eyes would say that the restaurant was clean, I'm not sure my nose would due to that smell that lasted throughout our meal. We got to sit at a big table and it was pretty comfortable.
There were quite a few tables in there already, but it wasn't packed even though it was dinner hours. I thought maybe the smell would go away as people started to barbeque their meats, but it didn't. This is my only complaint about the environment.

Service:
Service was slow, but the staff were friendly and helpful in general. One staff even apologized for taking so long to take our order and always made sure that our cups were full.

Taste:
One of the reasons why I like going to Korean restaurants is because of the free appetizers you get. 
 The taste of these side dishes are pretty standard everywhere. Out of the 8 we got, the cold japchae and kimchi were my favourite so we asked for more when we finished them.

One of the many things that we always order is the Seafood Pancake($120). It looked promising when it arrived, then it passed the texture test too as it was fried crisply. 
However, where was the seafood??
There was more flour than anything with barely any seafood, which was a bit disappointing and it was quite greasy and heavy to eat. Another dish that I enjoy ordering at Korean restaurants is the Tofu stew Pot ($110). This one had seafood in it and as usual, it came with a bowl of rice
so that you could eat it with the stew. There was a lot of tofu in it and it probably had a tad more seafood in it than the pancake. The broth was the best part although it was a bit spicy. 
I don't think I've had such a good tofu stew before!
 It was a bit thick, but it was rich and full of flavours. I couldn't stop eating it. This was the best dish of the night and I highly recommend it! Moving on to the last and worse dish of the night, is the Korean sushi ($100). We saw that many people had ordered it and my sister was craving sushi so we fell into this trap. Although it had a variety of ingredients inside, all I could taste was sesame oil.
 Afterwards, we both wondered why we would order this dish of sushi that cost us $100.

For $180, we were way too full and had leftovers so two dishes would have been plenty. I think some dishes were worth my $$, but some weren't. However, I guess it was a reasonable priced meal. 

Final Verdict:
I really did like the tofu stew and would like to go back for it, but that smell really is a turnoff. I might try other Tofu stews at other places and hope that they are just as good.

The bulgogi, marinated beef was very tender.
I really like the sauce they used to marinate the beef.

Next, we had the yokhoe.

This was my first time trying it, and the taste was really quite unique.
The raw egg with the raw meat and pears!
Strange combination but very very tasty.
My korean friend was surprised that I really liked it haha. (I ended up eating most of it)
And again generous portions.
Recommend it to anybody who hasn't tried it yet!!!

Now the 'soups'!
I put inverted periods because these aren't really soups.
It's just like a soup based main dish.

The short rib beef soup was my personal favourite.

Soooo tender. The meat melted in your mouth.
We were all able to try a serving of the meat!
My korean friend said it takes ages to cook this dish!
And indeed, it was hot and very very delicious....

The spicy tofu soup was very very satisfying.
Although I'm not a fan of spicy food, I was still able to appreciate this dish.
The tofu and the seafood goes very nicely with the soup.
And when you mix it with the rice....

Last but not least the grilling of the pork belly meat!!!
It was fantastic. 'Very traditional. Very yummy' - quote my korean friend haha
I used to wonder why pay a higher price for meat to grill yourself at your table..
and now I finally understand why.


It's just a lot of fun and very interesting grilling at your own table.
Very different to the other cuisines I've tried.

The sauce my korean friend ordered - the spicy chili paste sauce served in a stone pot along with lettuce and garlic and this leafy thing i forgot the name of was great too.
You have to wrap everything together - rice, meat, sauce, veggies, and some of the banchan if you want and ... its amazing

名符其名,大蝦,真的很大隻,擺放得很美,四隻大蝦,整整齊齊的排著等我來吃。
看見其貌,發光發亮的,已經感到非常新鮮,十分吸引,上到來都急不及待要燒熟牠。
燒的途中,發出很多聲響,就像這隻蝦叫我饒牠一命似的,誰叫你生得這麼美,不吃你對不起自己呢。
燒完後紅紅的,充滿濃郁的蝦味,而且十分彈牙,燒時加點辣粉更加惹味;蝦頭還有少少膏,喜歡吃膏的朋友可不要忘記蝦頭喔。
$150有4大隻不算太貴,合理吧,始終很新鮮又大隻。

燒雪花牛肉($230)

色澤新鮮,脂肪均勻,美得惹人憐愛,遇著我這牛魔女,實在很對不起。
火爐調到適當的溫度,牛肉放上,每面燒上分半鐘,肉汁鎖住,外皮香脆,沾上少少醬油或沾上辣粉,讚不絕口;而我覺得最好的吃法就是撒上少少辣粉,吃著原汁原味的雪花牛,油脂在口中爆發,入口即化,真的很爽。
$20一小片,用來伴飯吃應該不錯的,不過是晚為肉而瘋,米飯請回吧。

這份燒超級牛排骨($230)實在太好吃了,所以叫了兩份。
此超級牛排骨和上面的雪花牛雖然都是牛,不過這個經醃製,雪花牛比較原汁原味吧。
經醃製後雖然嚐不到肉的真味道,不過醃味非常濃郁,味道超棒,咸咸甜甜的;牛排骨當然沒有雪花牛入口即化的感覺,不過卻多了一點咬勁,有口感之餘卻十分的軟綿綿,真的不錯喔!!
雪花牛和牛排骨都是不錯的選擇,不妨每樣要一碟吧,不過記得先吃雪花牛。因為味道比較淡,否則嚐不到這濃烈的牛味了。

吃了醃製後的牛排骨後,真的有點口乾,平日很少喝這類飲品的我都忍不住要叫來解解這味精。
在餐牌上看到是雪梨汁,笨笨的我想不到是細罐裝,以為是一杯杯的。
如此細罐的雪梨汁要$20,真的有點貴,真的很細罐。不過味道不錯,十分清甜,充滿梨肉。

雖然吃多點菜好,不過這個生菜麵豉醬實在非常搵笨,$60只有十多片生菜和麵豉醬。
生菜很新鮮,不過在街市買應該五元左右吧。麵豉醬調得很惹味,百感交集,雖然味道不錯,不過我不建議大家叫,不如去街市買生茶烚來吃更健康。

燒秋刀魚($100)
很怕秋刀魚那幼幼細細的骨,我可不想因為吃秋刀魚而進醫院喔,所以只是淺嚐。
味道不錯吧,煎得剛剛好,不會太燶,加少少檸檬汁,酸酸的,很開胃。

燒帶子($140)
一碟8粒只售$140,價格適中,而且粒粒很大,除了牛肉外,最愛就是帶子,看到真的很興奮。
燒帶子不像燒牛肉般會有油份滲出,所以一定要有加充足的油分,否則一定黐底,那大大隻的帶子就會白白的犧牲了。
平日吃鐵板燒,看到廚師們都會把帶子剪開4邊才剪的,所以我也有樣學樣,不過我只剪開一半,因為帶子很易縮水,剪開4邊未免太細粒吧。
先下滿油,放帶子,剪兩邊,數分鐘後再反轉,待熟加點辣粉,喜歡燶的朋友可以再煎多一回,更加香脆惹味。

韓式辣冷麵($100)
燒得起勁,來點冷的降溫,這冷麵是不錯的選擇。麵條超級黏韌,非常彈牙,我對麵條的要求很高,一定要超彈牙才會得我歡心。
而這冷麵非常不錯,同枱都說很好吃,而且冰凍感十足,用來降溫適合不過。吃這冷麵的方法是先把麵條連醬攪勻,然後把麵條和隨上的湯拌吃就可以了。辣醬非常的辣,如果不嗜辣的朋友就不要叫了,愛辣的則不妨一試。

豆腐羹($110)
這個湯和上面的冷麵一同進食,兩樣都很辣,辣上加辣,吃得十分起勁。
豆腐羹味道很濃,有很多豆腐,豆腐非常滑溜,我很喜歡吃豆腐的,對皮膚有益呢。
除了豆腐外,還有少少海鮮,湯中多了一份鮮味,味道不錯。
看這色澤,有很多辣的元素,難免有些味精吧,吃完真的有點渴。

吃後感: 這天叫了很多食物,並不是每款都是必吃之選,值得選擇的有燒大蝦、雪花牛肉、燒超級牛排骨、韓式冷麵和豆腐羹,其他不吃也罷。食物新鮮程度都算不錯,至少大蝦的發亮的。價錢其實也算合理,大部份韓式餐廳的價格和這裡的都差不多,不過近這一年發覺得韓式餐廳越來越少,或者韓風始終不夠日風強勁吧。當晚一行7人,每人$320左右,不特別便宜,有少少味精。$320可能吃任食的會更抵,不過質素不同麻,而且我想吃牛排骨,還有雪花牛肉,所以是值得的。
而賣相方面比某些韓式餐廳好,至少不會把所有肉推在一起上吧,論味道和賣相也算不錯;不過略嫌不夠正宗,如果再多些韓國元素會更好。
服務方面非常好,因為小妹怕肥,每次燒都沒下太多油,所以煎pan都沾了不少致癌物,而店員每次都幫我換,那晚至少換了7-8個pan。有機會還是會再來的,但我還是比較喜歡吃日式燒肉

I really enjoyed the food and am so glad I found a restaurant I would definitely to back to!

There were 4 of us and we were seated right away.
My korean friend who is here on exchange ordered and amongst us we got the "dolsot bibimbap" stone pot rice, "galbi jjim" the beef short ribs, soft tofu stew, seafood pancake, and cold buckwheat noodles.

the stone pot mixed rice was the best ive had in hk so far and my friends all agreed.

the seafood pancake was really crispy and not too oily.

and the soft tofu stew was spicy but i love spicy food so

my korean friend ordered the cold buckwheat noodle, and I've never had it before but she said it was really chewy, the way it is supposed to be!
the portions were really generous, especially with the ribs, 5-6 pieces and they were hugee

She complimented to a korean staff there that she really liked one of the free side dishes they gave us with our meal (we got 7 in total) and they refilled it for us!!!!

ALSO we were given a free traditional dessert drink which they explained is made from rice.

the bill came up to around just over $60 for each of us

One week ago, me and my friends were wondering where to go for lunch in causeway bay. We decided to have korean food and my friend suggested this new restaurant "Kimchi Garden".As the prices seemed pretty reasonable so we all agreed to give it a try.


We ordered three lunch sets - Japchae (stir fried noodles with vegetables), Mixed bibimbap (mixed rice in stone pot) and Korean braised beef short ribs.

Some small dishes came right after we ordered the food. I did not take photos of them but as i remembered, there were kimchi,dried seaweed,boiled spinach,fried bean sprouts, preserved radish slices,etc. They were not bad.

After like 10 minutes, our food came one after the other.
First it was the Japchae.

The price of it was around $60 something, i think the size was reasonable with that price.
There were spinach, onion.bean sprouts,carrot and pork inside the stir fried dangmyun(starch noodle).
The dish looked pretty oily. To be honest, i did not have high expectations on it.
I tried a little bit of it and i was right! The starch noodles were too oily and the ingredients were not nice, especially the pork slices

It was like fried noodles in hk style rather in korean style, i could not taste any korean flavor in it.


Second it was the mixed bibimbap(mixed rice in stone pot).It came along with a spoonful of chili paste.

This was the best among the three things we ordered! The chili paste brought the whole dish to a higher level. We mixed the paste and raw egg well with the rice, the texture of it was tremendous.Perhaps it was because of the stone pot which kept the rice heated for so long, the flavor was enriched and the rice at the bottom of the pot turned a bit burnt and became crispy. That was the best part of the rice, yummy!


Third was the korean braised beef short ribs. It came with a bowl of rice.

The ribs were tender and soft. They were rich in the taste of chinese medicine, maybe the taste of ginseng? i was not so sure about it.
The portion of ribs was huge! There were like 5-6 pieces of ribs in the pot, the shop was very generous
The price was very reasonable as well, i remembered it was like $70 only with that large amount of ribs!

Before we checked the bill, a waitress served us with korean style sweet soup. I took a sip of it, hmmmmm i did not really like it. It was like syrups with iced water.


All in all,I can't say it is not a traditional korean restaurant but i believe there are many alternatives in Causeway Bay.
