This was my sister's selected restaurant for her bday dinner on a weekday.
Total 6 0f us had the following dishes: Main: Chiu Chow marinated goose - the dish included tofu and kidney whilst there was a mountain of goose meat ... the texture of meat seemed a bit overdone, not too tender Oyster congee - Not too enough for 6 of us actually, yet the quality is good! The little oysters are fat! And the overall taste is nice! Wok-fried Chicken with crispy veggie - I think they were really using fresh chicken, not those artificial-made chicken balls with other minced meat, great. Though the dish got more chicken skins, haha, yet the flavor was good and the fried veggie was crispy! Chiu Chow boiled cuttlefish - Even of high cholesterol, but the slice of cuttlefish was thick and big, hence the bite was not bad Fried fish-looked taro - I personally disliked taro yet I was forced to eat one piece. Not bad, deep fried wrapped the taro and a thin slice of minced fish mix. Still acceptable for me. The crunchiness of the piece was undeniable. Duck feet with 'hoi sum' pot - So-so. Normal thing you can have somehere. Every ingredient in the pot has been cooked long enough and the duck feet just fall away from the bones 'Dong Gwa' SoupExcellent, it was real simmered and I cant find oil on the soup. And it was really nice soup for summer. The ingredients were less-restaurant like, not oily. The 'gwa' was superb! Deep-fried prawn and crab ballsToo full that I only had the crab ball. Not bad since it just served hot and crispy from the kitchen I believe.
Dessert: Crispy taro with sprinkling sugar - Taro enemy so I did not eat any. Yet I saw my family did enjoy the dish and it was served very hot. Yellow bean soup - Too sweet for me *I think I was too full already*
All those I had costed around $130 per head. And all the dishes were above standard. As the previous entry said, do not expect any gimmick and nice deco but authentic Chiu Chow dishes ... you know what, even foreigners explored the eatery!
We have been back to this restaurant as we craved oyster cake. This time, we appreciated more about Shung Hing, being a typical chiu chow restaurant. The place did not sell gimmick or glamourous. It only served those very basic and simple chiu chow foods. The quality was good and the foods made were fresh. We loved the oyster cake, the soup boiled with salted vegetibles and pig stomach, and the small clams only available or served during the summer time. The dishes were all nicely made. There was no decor at all as the restaurant does not sell any gimmick. Go for the foods here, not any gimmick or others. Then you would love the place. In fact, the services was not bad at all, those elderly waiters and waitress were sociable and considerate.
It has been a number of years since I have been to this restaurant. It was quite a random decision to come to this place tonight, to have something different, something more interesting than the usual western or Chinese cuisines near the Central or Soho area. Before arriving, I already have the following in mind in terms of expectation or what this place lacks of: (1) service, (2) clean environment & (3) comfortable seating. Then again, when I come to here for dinner, I would expect great food quality (or so I assumed).
I am sure many of you have heard of this chiu chow restaurant and it is rather famous for its so-called authentic chiu chow cuisine. My friend and I arrived around 730pm and got a table near the entrance on the ground floor. I was right, this place certainly lacks a clean environment and comfortable seating area; but then again, I expected because I was there for some good food, especially some traditional dishes! We ordered the following: (1) 蠔餅, (2) 鵝片鵝血, (3) 椒鹽白飯魚, (4) 蘿蔔牛腩, (5) 糖醋麵 & (6) 清心綠豆爽
(1) 蠔餅 (mini oyster pancake?) They were very generous with two things for this dish: 1 - is the mini oysters & 2 - OIL ! YES, excessive OIL. I do understand that to cook this dish requires alot of oil but not to the point of soaked ingredients in it ! I did not dip any pieces into the fish sauce because I did not want the sauce to overtake the taste of other ingredients, but I should have dipped into the sauce because it might be able to take over the oily / greasy taste it gave me. (2) 鵝片鵝血 It was my first time trying the 鵝血 and it has an interesting texture which I liked. The 鵝血 itself was rather tasteless, it was more about the texture. Along with the sauce, it was a fair item considering this is the first time I tried this. The 鵝片 was nice, the meat was tender enough for me to give it a thumbs up. (3) 椒鹽白飯魚 This dish was fair indeed. Maybe abit less batter would be better but it was not bad at all. It was a very generous dish and the spices used were not excessive to a point that made me very thirsty. It was lucky that we did not order 白飯魚炒蛋 because I am pretty sure that it will be as oily or as greasy as the 蠔餅. Maybe their deep-fried items are fairly good, maybe. (4) 蘿蔔牛腩 A very disappointment dish indeed. The sauce / soup are too creamy, thick and salty. Beef briskets were TOO chewy and beef tendons were not soft enough. The best item in this dish was the 蘿蔔 (white carrots). We were both fans of beef briskets but we could not even finish the dish. Maybe this was not a common dish people would normally order during dinner but we were hoping for somethign better. Very disappointed.
(5) 糖醋麵 We were looking forward to this dish from the beginning but came out to be another disappointment. It was too greasy even the sugar and vinegar sauce that come with the dish did not help much. The noodle itself was alright, very crispy but it was pan-fried on one side only. I thought 糖醋麵 is supposed to be fried on both side or maybe we should have ordered the 雙面黃 instead? I thought they are basically the same thing. (6) 清心綠豆爽 My friend is not a fan of sweets while I considered myself to be one. However, for this free dessert, for some reasons, the color seemed so wrong and artificial. 清心綠豆爽 is actually one of my favorite Chinese desserts but the one being served here was not that tempting at all. Tried a few spoons of it and it was very watery. It was only 8pm and the dessert was already that watery? I wonder how it will taste later on the night. Hummm .... Likes: * Good fried items * Good 鵝片鵝血
Dislikes: * Service (as expected) * Environment (expected) * TOO many greasy / oily dishes * Watery dessert (too artificial in color)
I love Chui Chow food and I & friends & family used to go at least once a month but no more......This place is now run by the owner's son & spouse who are the worst kind of shameless money grubbing arseholes. We can't take the abuse anymore and will never go there again.
God help you if don't order at least one of the most expensive dishes like sharksfin or crab, you'll get the full treatment including: - dirty looks from the waiting staff, especially the owner's son - being hurried at every opportunity to finish up and vacate the table - no chance of ordering additional dishes because suddenly either the chef is gone or that the dishes is no longer available - dessert arriving but you finish your other courses, hint hint!!
Went to have dinner at this restaurant with my parents ytd night. We ordered wu tao fried rice pot, fried oyster egg, 9 choi so and a deep fried peanut butter dumpling. The wu tao fried rice pot is really really good, the rice is very dry and the stiffness is just nice not too hard n not too soft and its not oily too. The wu tao n minced pork is very nice it gives the fried rice more taste, the wu tao is cut into small cubes and its soft n chewy very nice and the minced pork has a strong taste of its seasoning n its a bit salty very very nice. i like this fried rice pot a lot. The fried oyster egg is very good, its surface is a bit burnt n on the side is also burnt which makes it very crispy, in the underneath its surface the egg is very soft n juicy n watery and the oyster are very fresh n the egg has absorbed the taste of the oyster and its seasonings, It taste very good with the salty sauce on the side. The deep fried 9 choi so is very good, the skini is very soft n crispy and the 9 choi is made as a paste form, n in the middle its full of crab meat. The 9 choi taste isnt very strong and the crab meat inside taste very good. Its the first time trying this dish. The deep fried peanut butter dumpling is ok la, not the best i had. The surface is crispy n very chewy, in the middle is full of peanut mixed with honey, its quite good but its a bit too oily.

在寫這篇食評前,我也細細看了幾位食家寫得食評,在這裡我想寫一些大多數人沒有提到的一些尚興美食與食法,供大家參考。
潮州菜少不了鹵水,尚興鹵水中最有特色的當屬鹵水鵝腸、鹵水鵝肝。鵝腸洗得非常干淨,略帶腸油,入口很有嚼頭,極其鮮美。鵝肝經鹵水後也不覺得油膩,火候掌握的好,不過不失令鵝肝有型且入味,值得細心品味。鵝肝不建議沾食傳統的鹵水調料。
白灼螺片,好食但很貴,差不多200元左右一片。建議食法可以在螺片中夾一些豆芽,抹少少蟹醬。蟹醬不必太多,否則會太鹹,也會掩蓋的味道。
潮州翅,不用200元,已經非常好食,而且份量也足。翅型一根根非常飽滿,但我更喜歡翅湯的濃濃香味,我不知道湯的成份,但其中一定是少不了金華火腿。食這種翅適合放些香菜,但一定不要放醋,掌握不好度,放少了沒味,放多了蓋過湯的香味和鮮味,反過適得其反了。
糖醋麵,就是潮州兩面黃。潮州蛋麵走油後,經高湯煨過,再煎香收干。可加糖醋汁食用,但直接食一樣好好味。
不知名甜品。大家都提到尚興的清心綠豆爽,不過我覺得不是最有特色的。尚興有一種甜品,我講不出名字(也希望食客能幫我回憶一下它的名)。這一甜食外型象小圓球,皮似粉果,餡有花生和紅豆沙的,上來時是熱的,晶瑩通透,食客可以一目了然是什麼餡的。我對花生敏感,所以只試了紅豆沙的,感覺似上海的條頭羔,但貴在多餡
一從朋友當晚還食了蠔餅、凍花蟹、椒鹽白飯魚、川椒雞、蠔仔粥等等。不過,我覺得最當試的還是上面這些。

好味潮菜***
約了在上環站再慢慢走到尚興,其實很易尋找,反正皇后大道中一路直走便是了。大概8:15來到看見大概8-10個人在外等位,幸好我一早訂了位,所以老闆便立即把吉檯先讓了給我們。
川椒雞係我每次食潮州菜必吃既一道菜,因為我真係太鍾意呢味菜啦。川椒雞真係好好好好食,尤其是將D椒葉沾埋D醬油一齊食,索哂D味真係好正! 不過呢味菜本身係較油的,但這裡也整得好吃呀,雞肉很滑,而且炒得很入味,不過如果大碟點就好了,感覺很快就吃完呢。
之後叫左個蠔烙,這個也是好吃的。很多蠔仔,而且也算大隻和有鮮味的。本身煎得較薄,有蛋香,不會是出面那些炸到好厚見到都唔想食的蠔餅,同魚露一齊食就更好味。另外叫左個蒜蓉豆苗,這個細細碟的。豆苗炒得好入味,而且又不會失了豆苗原本的味道,炒得清嫩,眨下眼我們就吃光光了。
最慢的是鹵水拼盤,等了很久,老闆娘說是因為得一個師傅在斬料,所以有排等。來到是滿滿的一碟,墨魚偏淡,不大特別。鵝肉超多,很有肉味,而且也算是嫩滑不靱的,不錯。
最後甜品是綠豆爽,沒有清心丸,阿姐說賣哂了。不過糖水也是好吃的,因為感覺清甜,很多綠豆有口感,媽咪最愛豆的一定喜歡吃。
三個人吃畢也是飽飽的,服務沒有大特別,因為也是沒什麼服務可言。最好笑是我們之前叫菜或者要求其他D阿姐就要叫幾次先聽到或者理你,但一叫埋單即刻聽到仲即刻遞張單埋黎,我地話佢D反應做咩快左咁多。
是好味的潮州菜,下次會再來吃的。=)

全港最正潮州餸
每次我地一定會每道餸叫,因為黎餸速度快過打針。
通常會先叫一碟滷水鵝片,一碟滷水鵝頸鵝翼,同埋一碟滷水鵝肝鵝腎鵝腸。哇,個醋校得好好,正到暈!
食完一系列既頭盤,如果係特別日子我地就會食紅燒魚翅
尚興既海鮮都好正架。我個人最欣賞屋企人食粉絲底蒸蟹,因為我自己敏感唔食得蟹,所以冇得食蟹,但係就可以食到有蟹味既粉絲。
契公喜歡食蒸魚,一邊食白粥,我就會同哥哥叫蠔仔粥(我地覺得白粥冇味
甜品我地就一定係食老細文少親自下廚既三寶(白果,芋頭,甜蕃薯)
各位未去過尚興既朋友真係要去試下。大家唔洗驚環境不潔,因為尚興新舖好靚(紀香姐同城城最近都有幫親過新舖),唯一係洗手間比我扣左少少分。

紅燒翅:翅湯濃而不膩,魚翅數量亦多,好食
凍蟹:肉質結實鮮甜,令人愛不釋手,good
髮菜卷併椒鹽豆腐:炸功ok,唔油膩。髮菜卷味普通;椒鹽豆腐皮薄香脆,內裡嫩滑,唔錯
清蒸芝麻斑:火喉剛剛好,魚肉肉質嫩滑,味道鮮甜,好食
沙爹炒牛河:沙爹汁味濃;牛肉份量多,質素佳,唔錯
薑薯糖水:當糙薑薯配合清清的蓮子糖水,為整個晚餐劃上美滿的句號

好食既魚翅係唔使落醋..
佢哋有好多招牌菜, 但最重要係大部份菜式都保持到高水準.
平有平好食, 貴有貴好食. 豐儉尤由人.
食過佢哋既紅燒翅, 先知道咩野係真正既魚翅.
一般食魚翅, 我都會落好多醋, 因為食落好唔好味都好, 食幾啖已經好滯. 更加唔好話食多碗.
但尚興既紅燒翅, 落得多醋反而會晝蛇添足, 掩蓋咗原本既湯香.
湯香濃得嚟又唔滯, 食完一碗, 都唔會有滯既感覺. 絕對想食多碗
其他好菜色多不勝數. 除了蒸魚質素較遜外(不及大酒樓, 小弟估計冇大蒸爐蒸魚, 所以火喉唔夠), 其他菜色都絕對值得一試.

芋頭煲仔飯一流
呢日3絛友lunch,鵝片入味但太肥,下次記住提醒伙記。
胡椒豬肚湯次次都好正恰到好處。
鹹肉菜花幾好,D肉肥瘦相間,菜花沾了油香。
蠔餅這裡不會的。
芋頭煲仔飯一流,芋頭香味入飯,有少許豬肉調味,仲有些飯焦,wonderful。記得加些辣醬,畫龍點睛。
餐前的芥菜和餐後送的清心丸綠豆爽都是我常來的原因。

尚興其實麻麻地….
蠔餅:差到不能(d油多到差不多浸爛個餅,街邊大排當都識加張紙吸油la)
鵝片:幾入味, good!(可惜其他地方都食到..)
其他食物普通水準,食左都無印像...而且服務好差...
所以這個價錢就好貴

留位時無特別留,即場order都有此巨蟹3佰幾都覺抵食,絕對係頂角肉蟹!!!膏不算多但肉質鮮味質感幼滑,雖然用新鮮形容泠盤絕對講唔通,但又卻係舌頭大哥傳達出來的訊息!!!只好信!
炒蟶子
雖這不是蟶子皇,只是普通的蟶子但淨睇d圖就知,咁肥咁壯,, 濃濃的豉汁非常惹味,剌激味蕾絕對一流!!口感爽滑,肉質彈牙,好少食到咁厚身的蟶子,不其然希望豉汁冇咁濃,為的是一嚐其鮮味
老鼠班
友人好魚, 夥計推介下蒸咗條老鼠班,大細適中,味道鮮甜,時間控制一流,魚肉剛剛貼骨
糖醋麵
十分滿意,絕不油膩,又香脆,本身齋食已OK,加上醋和糖的化學作用叫人回味無窮,
菜圃蛋
相對較普通,如果菜圃多少少口感會好好多!
清心綠豆爽
送的甜品,不過也不失,清清涼涼,作為一餐的終結, 清心綠豆爽交到工課
環境+衛生
十足的泠氣,比一般潮州鋪乾爭,但環境又未去到有傳統酒家老舖的味道

攞正牌係"冇服務",雖然好明顯有生客和熟客之分,但又不是非常過份,人手不足可能係原因,個阿姐d語氣好似呀媽feel,介紹食物時長氣寢氣,好有屋企feel,冇服務!!
抵食
海鮮偏貴……..,但以食物質素去衡量和抵消,只是Ok抵食….
