Do not come if you want to have nice morning. Just another fast food shopWent for breakfast on a Wednesday morning hoping to get recharged. Given there is no one in the queue, I asked a few questions about the salad and when the cookies/ quiches will be out politely. This tall guy with black eye glasses answered in such a cool, half-hearted and impatient manner just ruined the whole experience .Bakehouse is much busier but staff are polite and nice …will make a wiser choice next time ….…查看更多

Unbearably Salty

We had the tasting menu hoping to try most of their pasta dishes. To start with, the beef tartare was on the salty side. We almost could not finish it off without the bread. For pastas, we ordered the pappardelle, ravioli carbonara and tagliolini. We waited patiently what they got to offer. The pappardelle tasted fine. We knew that pecorino cheese is rather strong and salty but did not expect it to be unbearably salty. Flavours were not well balanced with the mild ricotta cheese at all. You can imagine the bitterness when you choke on sea water..... so disappointed with it. We spoke to our server about it but she got carried away with orders and service. The tagliolini and tiramisu after just got ruined by the saltiness. Definitely expected more from this place.…查看更多

This new Vietnamese restaurant has a really chic vibe with Vietnamese icons and neon lights hanging on the walls.We ordered the fried spring rolls. There were lots of fillings like fungus, vermicelli, minced pork, shrimp and taro. The spring rolls were really crispy and tasted refreshing with the lettuce. However, I prefer less taro chunks in it as they tasted a bit hard and dry.Under such hot summer days, we needed to order something lighter. Shredded chicken bun noodles would be the best choice.The shredded chicken, cucumber slices with sweet and sour sauce made it a very delightful dish.We also had the beef brisket and tomato pot. 這晚來到位於鴨巴甸街的Aberdeen Street。雖然路是挺斜的,但那晚下着毛毛細雨,還是挺舒服的。這裏的氣氛非常舒服casual,情侶或朋友聚會都非常適合。Aberdeen Street是一間提供地中海食物的餐廳,標榜着用天然及有機的材料,不加味精,非常健康的感覺。食物的種類非常多,tapas, appetiser, 沙律,海鮮,意粉等都有,而且還提供素食呢!我們點了兩杯飲品,其中士多啤梨的那個味道非常天然,沒有滿滿糖漿的感覺。接着點了nachos 及Elgin street salad。沙律非常大份,材料豐富,有紅椒菇類,最好是可以選擇yogurt dressing ,非常健康。主菜選了煎三文魚,伴有烤雜菜及藜麥,注重健康的我吃得非常放心!另一個主菜肉眼扒味道亦不錯,半碟的沙律份量很多。路雖然遠一點,但外食可以健康一點還是會選這裏…查看更多

Amazing Reuben sandwich

If you want to relax and chill in Central, Zenon cafe would be the right place. It is located in the busy Wellington Street but has a really chilled vibe . A perfect place for people-watching!They offer different kinds of beverage including coffee, specialty drinks and liquor. Zenon offers typical cafe food such as all-day breakfast, eggs benedict, salads and waffles. I particularly like their sandwich choices which are not that common in most cafes in Hong Kong. I had the Reuben sandwich with corned beef and cheese layered. It was really enjoyable as the multigrain bread was nicely toasted and cheese kept oozing out. The flavour was so well balanced as the secret sauce gave it a spicy kick The latte art on my mocha was really cute too. The barrister drew a cute chick and even with a tiny heart next to it. Beef cheek that can't be Missed!

The dinner at Bistronomique Staunton a while ago left me with a really good impression so I decided to give its branch in Kennedy Town a try for a Sunday lunch.It is located at the waterfront in Kennedy town with several seats on the ground floor while most seats are on the second floor. It certainly has a pretty sea view if you get to sit at the window side.Lunch sets range from $128-178 with various choices.I had the artichoke and prawn salad and slow cooked Australian waygu beef cheek.The salad was quite nicely presented with prawns arranged around. The prawns tasted rich and bouncy.Artichokes were thinly sliced which was soft to eat. The portion of the beef cheek was pretty generous. The taste of it didn't disappoint either. It has a almost melt-in-the mouth texture with rich and meaty flavour. Pretty relaxing having a stroll along the promenade after a lunch here! …查看更多

La bo la is situated in the newly refurbished Lee Tung Avenue where Passion and Le Pain Quotien is. It's a Vietnamese restaurant and bar offering snacks, main dish and alcoholic drinks. The atmosphere is pretty relaxing.We ordered the soft shell crab salad, avocado and shrimp rice paper roll and ox tongue riceThe soft shell crab was crispy and meaty and went well with the acidity of salad dressingThe portion of the avocado and shrimp rice paper rolls was rather small but the richness of the shrimp compensated for it.We really enjoyed the ox tongue rice as the ox tongue was thick and tender. We were sitted next to the long slide of windows overlooking the hustle and bustle of Causeway Bay. Try getting seats on that side for a better photo with the dessert.The Improvisation included welcoming drinks, the dessert itself and drinks. The welcoming drink we had was guava juice which was sweet and refreshing. We got to choose our own dessert mats and we chose white instead of grey and blank for I think different colours would pop up more with white.There were five bottles of sauces including taro, coconut, mango, chocolate and blood peach. The staff drew various dots and strokes across the mat, forming the base for the whole dessert. All the sauces tasted really rich and pronounced. The staff let us do our own drawing and it was not easy indeed! You have to control your force really well for even and clean lines! Next, she took out different condiments including honey comb, sweet potato jelly, green tea mochi, chocolate pudding, mandarin jelly, raspberries, blueberries and chocolate crisps to decorate the dessert. The staff let us taste some of the condiments before she placed them on the mat. All the condiments had a really rich flavour just like the sauce. I especially loved the chocolate pudding and crisps as they had excellent texture and taste. The staff then poured some ice cream mixture in a bowl with nitrogen in it. With some mixing and scooping, blood peach and charcoal bamboo ice cream were presented to us. The ice cream was then topped with some pink Chinese cotton candy for some glam. The richness of the chocolate ice cream and the sourness of the blood peach ice cream balanced really well. Lastly, the staff wrote special a message on the mat which made it a lovely dessert. All the components such as the sauces, jellies, crunch and ice cream tasted rich but I guess some kind of sponge cakes would help to bind various tastes together better.At the end, we chose the Insomnia which was an uncommon combination of fruit with pu-er. As a chocolate lover, I can't resist the temptation of trying this cake heavily covered with dark chocolate gananche! The Taikoo branch of Blask As Chocolate is at the corner of the newly opened Eslite book store. The cake was nicely packed in a black box with different colours of ribbons that you can choose from. It also came with a cute little pack of forks or spoons. It definitely is a good choice for birthday celebrations! I chose the chocolate banana cake with a swirl of caramel sauce on top. The chocolate ganache tasted really rich but not overly sweet. The chocolate cake was spongey and moist which went really well with the banana puree. Monster Sushi opened its new branch again in Causeway Bay in Lee's Theatre. We've always love eating here because of their creative sushi rolls. Other than the original ones, there are some newly added ones too.The eel tamago roll is a must-order item as it tasted just perfect taste-wise and texture-wise. I dislike tamogo roll that's overly sweet but this one was just perfectly seasoned. The eel tasted rich which was really nice with the soft and juicy tamago.Another item that I must order here is their grilled ox tongue. The ox tongue tasted really flavourful and soft without being too greasy. Fried soft shell crab sushi was pretty nice too as the crab meat was thick and generous.For cheese lovers, you gotta order this! We ordered the tofu with salmon roe and uni as the appetizer. There were so much salmon roe that it overflowed. The tofu was silky smooth while the uni was rich and fresh.The sashimi platter was huge with nine types of sashimi. The portion was really big with each slice being one inch thick. The shrimp sashimi tasted crispy and fresh. Scallops were sweet as well. I particularly like the fish sashimi as it had a mild smokey flavour.The grilled beef roll was amazing! The beef tasted rich and smooth. The scallions inside was sweet and fresh which balanced off the richness.The stir-fry udon tasted more delicious than its name. Waffils looks a bit different from the last time I visited with more comfortable seats.Savory waffles weren't available last time so I gave the pulled pork waffles a try. The waffle was crispy on the outside while the pulled pork was moist and tender. Without the barbecue sauce, the whole waffle tasted lighter and more refreshing.We also tried the mentou waffle burger which was a mentou pressed in the waffle machine filled with pulled pork and coleslaw. I prefer waffle to the mentou as it was less heavy and compact.Lastly, we had the banana and praline waffle as dessert. The one we chose went with Belgium dark chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Lily & Bloom has a really nice ambience for both romantic and friends’ gathering as this is what we saw that night. There were big tables to accommodate for large group dinner while there are two round sofa tables for couples’ date. The service was second to none as all of the servers sang birthday song together and they were very knowledgeable about the food.We had the featured 3-course set menu.Warm baguette was served in a special white paper bag.The Bloom Caesar was appetising with several pieces of focaccia on top. The green was fresh and crispy dressed in caesar dressing. The richness of the poached egg just made the dressing even more delicious.Grilled Chu Toro composed of green shiso rice, tomato and melon also and fresh wasabi. The chu toro was perfectly seasoned and went well with the sour and spicy condiments. It was such a refreshing main course. It could have been better if the toro was less cooked inside.The side dish was short rib mac and cheese with red wine angus beef, pimiento pepper and fresh herbs. The short ribs was soft and tender while the cheese itself tasted really rich. The fresh herbs enhanced the flavour of the whole side dish.The yellow peach crepes was filled with mascarpone which was smooth and rich. I really love the ambience of this restaurant as it was really homey and cozy. We were served cold ham vermicelli as the appetiser. It was surprisingly nice though the ingredients were simple. The seasoning was just right.The grilled ox tongue tasted so rich and tender. The mentaiko stuffed chicken wing was really juicy. The mentaiko was slightly spicy, giving it a nice spicy kick.The sashimi platter looked amazing with two shrimps hanging from the glass. I especially love the 木立魚 as it had a special smokey flavour. The tuna and white uni were both fresh and sweet.The eel and cream cheese roll tasted much better than the ones in chain restaurant as the eel sauce was not overly sweet. The soft cream cheese balanced the sweetness of the sauce.The homemade creamy crabmeat croquettes were just amazing. The inside was soft and creamy with bits of crabmeat. Croquettes in chain restaurants are usually potato croquettes which might be a bit too heavy.The truffle udon looked amazing with cheese and truffle on top. We went to Barcelona a few months ago but it was a pity we didn't have enough time to have their traditional paella.We came to Sabor Spanish Touch private kitchen to quench out thirst for paella. The mix menu includes 3 tapas, soup, mixed fruit sorbet, seafood paella and dessert.We were served some pickled olives and onion with tomato bread. The tomato salsa was slightly sweet and sour. The salsa had the right consistency which went well with the thinly sliced toasts.The grilled cuttlefish with green aioli was cooked to perfection. Cuttlefish can be rubbery and hard if not cooked properly but the cuttlefish here was just so tender. The green foam was made with garlic bits which was a creative twist from traditional Spanish cuisine.The garlic shrimp came with a sizzling hot pot with fried garlic slices. It was really aromatic. The shrimps were fresh and bouncy.The mushroom soup was no ordinary mushroom soup but one that resembled cappuccino with a layer of foam on top. The soup was rich with small bits of mushroom.The mixed fruit sorbet was more sour than the usual sorbet but was acceptable as the tapas was quite heavily seasoned.The seafood paella was the long awaited dish of the night. There were four shrimps and two clams on top of the brick red paella rice. The seafood was rather small in size but the rice was flavourful as it was cooked with shrimp and fish stock.The tiramisu foam with homemade pineapple ice cream was surprisingly delicious though it’s an Italian dessert. The pineapple ice cream tasted authentic with balanced sweetness and sourness. It was made extra tasty with a touch of salt on top. As a lover of tiramisu, I love the creaminess of the mascarpone cheese but sometimes it can be too stuffing.
