我真的超級喜歡Dear Lilly的裝潢!太漂亮了吧!設計師Ashley Sutton很懂女人心嘛!一踏進酒吧,彷如置身仙境!復古浪漫風點到即止,不落俗套,場景美得令人難以遺忘!這地方怎樣拍也美!事緣早前有朋友分享了她在試業中的Dear Lilly吃午飯的美好經驗,於是我二話不說就訂座試菜。上星期三,我成功來到這城中熱話的餐廳吃午飯,點了午市套餐($138兩道菜、$188三道菜)— 前菜要了吞拿魚他他,主菜點了鱸魚(另點薯條和沙律作配菜),甜品我挑了朱古力焦糖塔,我還另加$28要了跟餐飲料(點了咖啡Cappuccino)。食物方面,個人認為質素是中規中矩的,沒有特別驚喜(就是味道過得去、調味還可以、食材沒有極度鮮美但也不是平價貨色這樣子吧),但以中環(附無敵海景和絕美裝修)地段而言,算是很不錯的選擇!而且侍應們服務也很不錯!我看過他們的飲品餐牌,雞尾酒(每杯$120)的名字都很美,希望改天再訪,嘗嘗他們的飲品!I'm obsessed with Dear Lilly's interior design by Ashley Sutton! This place is surreal it's like an enchanted garden which fairies call home! 😍So a friend of mine shared her dining experience at Dear Lilly which is doing soft opening at the moment. That place looked out of the world so I immediately booked a table for lunch last Wednesday.About the food, I've heard good things about it. Personally, I think it's slightly above average but the romantic ambience makes up for it.I had tuna tartare, sea bass and caramel chocolate tart. Added fries and salad as sides and splashed another extra $28 for a cappuccino to go with the lunch set. Generally speaking- unsurprising flavours, acceptable plating and the ingredients are not of the finest quality but they're not cheap stuff either. They charge $138 for 2 courses and $188 for 3 courses which is really not bad especially when you're in Central (we're talking about IFC's rooftop with a harbour VIEW!)!I took a look at the fancy drink menu ($120 each for the cocktails with fancy names lol). 之前與久未會面的中學同學到一家新開張的小餐館“源興美食”吃晚飯,感覺這小餐館滿有成為私房菜館的潛力!好東西就是要跟人分享,所以在此介紹一下。My high school friends organized a reunion dinner at “Yuen Hing” some time ago. My overall comment is - quality of food was impressive but the prices were reasonable. It might become the next Michelin recommended private kitchen and by then it might no longer be affordable so I gotta share this here now.源興美食位於佐敦街市附近,店子偏小,聚餐之前,朋友早早訂了位,包了場,點了餐,我們就像是貴賓吃私房菜一樣,一字記之若爽!This dining outlet is basically a Chinese restaurant near to a market in Jordan. One of my friends booked the whole restaurant (which was pretty small in size) and pre-ordered all the dishes. We simply dined like VIP guests that night!先來這個例湯,是粉葛湯,即日餚製的,清甜沒味精,很有住家味兒。First came the Chinese slow cooked soup of the day. It was sweet and light. Nourishing with a homemade touch to it.然後是前菜,有拍青瓜(酸甜開胃,本人偏愛鹹味和蒜香更重一點的)和鳳爪(彈牙但個人覺得調味可以更濃一些),都是比較清淡的味道,不是非常特別的菜色,但也不會很膩;配上即沖的香濃奶茶,一樂也。Then came the appetizers. Both the pickled cucumbers (the sweet and sour seasoning was quite fresh but I have a personal preference for pickled cucumbers with stronger garlic and savoury flavours) and sautéed chicken legs in wine sauce (very springy but would have been better if the seasoning is stronger) were refreshing small bites.再來是燒味,聽說小店的廚師是憑燒味起家的,難得來到當然要試試。首先是冰燒三層肉,外層的確很脆肉也很嫩,小小的一口很惹味,而且感覺師傅在準備時起了部分油脂,令我吃得很安心(對,我就是在搶吃的時候不停說服自己多吃點也不會肥)個人覺得香脆還滿香脆的,但若外層除了能更鬆化一點便是完美。I was told that the chef at Yuen Hing was most skilled in making Cantonese Siu Mei which basically means Chinese barbecued meat. So next came these must-try dishes. The 3-layered crispy pork belly was great. The chef took the trouble to remove the fatty layers so the remaining small bites were all crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with a thin layer of fat to finish the wholesome taste.然後是叉燒,味道也不錯,可能是以明爐燒烤的方法烹調,所以肉味得以保存。最近我在不同的食肆吃的叉燒大多只是很肉質很嫩但卻亳無肉味,所以猜想那些號稱叉燒專家的店子是以先煮熟後烤的方法做叉燒。個人覺得這小店的豬肉質量或許及不上那些大餐廳,但相比之下,本人還是比較喜歡原汁原味明火慢烤而成的古早味道。Barbecued pork was good as recommended. It could have been due to the use of the traditional char-grilled method in roasting the pork. Both the flavour and texture of meat were well preserved unlike the “artificial” taste and tenderness of cha-siu faked by soda powder in most chain stores.蜜味的豬頸肉爽口香甜,十分好吃!The honeyed roasted pork neck was great, too! The grill was nicely done.     至於燒鵝是剛出爐的,很香脆可口,肥瘦適中,配黃梅醬一流。不得不提的是這兒的燒鵝是真正的燒鵝,由於鵝的價格昂貴,不少店子早已把燒鴨當燒鵝,故本人當天看見燒鵝頭上突起的“皇冠”時非常興奮,禁不住多吃了幾件。The roasted goose (yes, goose not duck pretending to be a goose!) was fresh out of oven and super crispy. The meat was tender with just the right bit of fat to enrich the flavours. Superb when dipped in sweet and sour yellow prune sauce! 芋頭燘鵝不是本人最愛,皆因本小姐不好芋頭,不過這碟鴨的確很香,雖然淋上醬汁外皮依然很脆身,不愛芋頭的我也吃了數件才罷。 I’m not too into Taro so this Taro Duck is not my fav. This dish was unexpectedly nice though. The duck was crispy even though it was covered with taro sauce. Even a taro-hater like me couldn’t stop munching.豬手很彈牙,沒有甚麼特別,味道是不錯的,但沒有令人印象深刻。No surprise for the pig’s knuckles. It was springy and collagen-rich but not a dish I would go back to.咖啡牛腩亦不錯,不過本人偏愛椰汁味重一點的,所以沒有吃太多。Curry beef was quite nice but I personally prefer curry sauce with stronger coconut flavours so I didn’t finish the curry.炒菜也是滿滿的住家味道。Stir fried veggies was in homemade style.再來壓軸上場的清蒸老虎斑,這尾魚真是超級好吃,是本人的誠意推介!!!新鮮,嫩滑,美味!老實說,這清蒸海斑是我近期吃過最好吃的魚!雖說大廚是以燒味出身,但個人覺得這尾魚比其燒味是更得意之作。眾所周知,蒸魚最重要就是火候,家裡的爐因火候不足是做不到相同的效果的,所以我特別喜歡出外吃大尾的蒸魚,今次這尾魚就是完全體現了廚師的功力,我們一眾都對此讚絶口!廚師告訴我們這尾魚是在我們剛到步時他身自到外頭的街市買的,難怪那麼新鮮!不過廚師說因為店子小所以沒有魚缸,所以想要吃到蒸魚的朋友們最好預訂這道菜,讓廚師做足準備。And here comes my favourite! Ta da! The long awaited steamed tiger grouper! Everyone was impressed by this dish. The fish was really fresh and the meat was so tender. Chef Lam told us that the fish was bought right from the night market outside, no wonder the fish was so delish! Those who wanna give the fish a try, do book ahead as we were told that there weren’t any fish tanks in the restaurant so prior reservation is required for this dish.吃了這麼多但每人好像付了不夠200元?真個是貨真價實唷!After enjoying all these good food, we only paid less than $200 per person? It was such a bargain!飯後跟小店林老闆談了一會,才知道小店只有他一個廚師,而且他曾經在萬豪酒店,利苑,龍皇,陶源等名食府學藝,工力深厚!小店是最近開業的,老闆說希望把美食以合理價位帶給眾街坊。努力經營的小店真是買少見少,有機會經過源興的朋友去支持一下吧,這小店是有點禾稈冚珍珠的味道,那些古法菜式會給你驚喜的。We had a little chat with the restaurant owner, aka the chef, after the dinner. It wasn’t known until then that Chef Lam used to work at 5-star hotels and Michelin restros like Marriot, Lei Garden, Dragon King, Sportful Garden, etc. No wonder the food was good at Yuen Hing! Aside from its location, I think this restaurant really has the potential to develop into a private kitchen. As always, I find it hard to resist the charms of the “hidden” local restaurants. The Revolving Restaurant on 62/F

上個暑假到了許多地方吃喝玩樂,多得趕不及寫文!其中一個我很喜歡的地方是合和中心的旋轉餐廳。之前也在Passion一篇提到我的母校就在灣仔,所以唸書時曾經試過在中午時份跑到旋轉餐廳吃飯(學校的午飯時段偶而會因應老師們的特別會議而延長)。不過,舊時的旋轉餐廳主打自助餐,後期更淪落成內地旅行團的廉價食堂!幸好上年初西班牙餐廳View 62進駐這個美美的旋轉場館,於是我們又重回舊地,試試新餐館。I’ve been to quite a lot of restaurants last summer before work started. It will take me ages to write about each and every lovely place I’ve visited but I’m trying to share with you some of my favs. As I mentioned in my post on Passion, my alma mater is in Wanchai so I enjoy exploring in this district. One of my favourite new places is VIEW 62 by Paco Roncero at Hopewell Centre. 62/F of Hopeful Centre used to be a cheap buffet restaurant when I was in high school but it looks as posh as a hotel lounge after renovation. Just love the panoramic view alongside the slowly revolving floor platform.聽聞餐廳主廚是西班牙名廚,擅長食物科學,我知道的不及妹妹多,只是我在暑假到訪時感覺它的食物質素的確不賴!I have been told that the executive chef of this Spanish restaurant is famous for molecular food science. I don’t know as much as my sis does about molecular gastronomy (etc etc) but the food I had at View 62 last summer was pretty awesome!先來頭盤~ 大家都點了龍蝦湯(因為我們都不喜歡俄羅斯沙拉),有濃郁的鮮味湯內有龍蝦肉,確是真材實料。配上熱騰騰的麵包很美味!We all had Lobster Suquet with its own Carpaccio as appetizer. Their Russian salad with mayo foam didn’t appeal to us as much as their seafood! The soup was rich and full of fresh lobster meat. Yums with the hot bread!接下來是小食炸魚球。到現在還記得那味兒好像葡式馬介休~畢竟西班牙和葡萄牙是鄰居啦XD 小點偏鹹,不過炸功不錯(我最討厭不會做炸物的餐廳糟蹋食物),炸魚球不會很膩,整體感覺蠻好的。Then we had cod buns as Tapas. The fried cod buns tasted like Portugese Bacalhau (yeah I know the Portuguese and the Spaniards are neighbours). Slightly on the salty side but the crispy crust made it up. Overall, a good Tapas.大家點了不同的主菜,多試菜式。首先有龍躉配花枝麵伴墨魚汁。魚塊鮮香彈牙,麵條質感亦是非常有趣,煙韌富魚香,配上濃郁的墨魚汁是鮮上加鮮的美味組合!We ordered different mains. First came this Grouper with Cuttlefish Noodles in Squid Sauce. The springy fish meat and cuttlefish noodles had an interesting texture. I loved that taste of freshness in this seafood dish.另外的主菜是燒汁豬柳伴南瓜蓉。本人非常喜歡這個菜。豬柳是鹹的,入口後絲絲甜香便滲透出來,清甜的南瓜蓉和幼嫩的豬柳肉配搭相宜,整碟菜也很好吃啊!Then came this Iberico Secreto Teriyaki with Pumpkin Puree. I love this main dish the most. The sweet aroma of pumpkin matched well with the lightly grilled and slightly sweetened pork meat.再來嫩牛肉配雜菌薯蓉,同樣是出色的主菜。牛肉是上好的嫩肉,配上香濃菇汁和薯蓉,是很淳厚的味道。雖不是新奇的菜式,卻有那種perfect match的味道。Finally, the Beef Tenderloin with Portabello Mushroom and Potato Puree. I always believe that the quality of the meat is decisive in dishes like this. We were not disappointed. The beef was tender, juicy and went well with the mushroom sauce. It wasn’t the most innovative dish but it was one of those unbeatable bonds in culinary history... you know… beef and mushrooms living together happily ever after…甜品是菠蘿配乳酪泡沫。其貌不揚的它其實是蠻好吃的,最重要的是用料新鮮,雖然簡單,但對於我這些喜歡嚐鮮的人來說是不錯的甜點。Pineapple with yoghurt foam was served as dessert. It didn’t look too impressive but the taste was beyond my expectation. It was so refreshing for the taste buds. Simply but nice. Quite liked it personally.咖啡倒不太好喝,大家可以考慮點些別的飲料。The coffee was also beyond my expectation in another way. Not impressive at all. I would suggest ordering other drinks instead.吃罷午飯,待應生跟我們聊了一會,告知我們西班牙主廚只在本港逗留頃刻,餐廳以後會由駐港的廚師主理~感覺我們還滿幸運的,可以在名廚在港的時候試試菜色!不知道下次再的時候食物是不是一樣美味呢? ;)Had a chat with the waiter after lunch and reckoned that the Spanish chef would only stay in Hong Kong for a while. The business at View 62 would be run by other chefs who station in Hong Kong. We were quite fortunate to be able to try out View 62 before the famous chef left for Europe! I wonder if the food would still be as good when we visit next time! ;)…查看更多

It has been nearly a month since the Hysan Place opened and due to its vicinity to my residence, I have visited it quite some times and tried out several dining places. I like that they open till late night especially on weekends because I am such a night owl, so is my family!希慎廣場開業一個月了,由於我是港島人,所以已到訪商場不下十數次。商場內的食肆營業時間蠻長的,令我和家人這群貓頭鷹很高興,下班以後經常來吃飯! I’ve been to the Dining Room twice and I must say their Shanghainese food is not particularly impressive but I do like their simple cozy décor. I like their buckwheat tea so much that I kept asking for refills. It’s nice to have something different from the regular Jasmine, Iron Buddha, etc, etc.在南小館吃過兩頓飯,覺得食物質素普通,不過氣氛挺好的,佈置簡潔可愛。我鍾愛它們的麥茶,比一般茶樓的多了一份香醇。I quite like the tea filled flavour of this Jasmine Tea Pudding. The texture is smooth and the tea aroma is rich but not overdone.推介它們的綠茶布丁。清新的味兒和幼滑的口感很得我歡心。 Apart from that, I find the quality of the rest so so. Portions are tiny for the cold dish platter. The taste was alright but not excellent.除了以上這款小點,其他的食物質素真的非常一般。這碟冷盤的份量很小,味道也不突出。 The pan fried buns are not crispy enough and there is too much dough as compared to meat.生煎包也是沒有驚喜。皮太厚,肉不嫩。Again, the noodles are alright but not delish. Quite surprised that this is warm as it is a cold dish in some other Chinese restaurants.以前吃過的蔥油拌麵大多是放冷了才上菜的,不過這碟是熱的,味道沒有特別出眾。Another average cold dish.再一碟質素普通的冷盤雞絲紛皮。So so xiaolongbao.不太美味的小籠包。You can mix and match for the dessert platter. All are average but for the pumpkin dumpling… it is gooey and tasteless which makes it the worst dish amongst all.甜品拼盤是自由配搭的,我挑了綠茶布甸,煎堆(皮太韌太厚了),南瓜餅(質感黏糊很難吃)和楊枝甘露布丁,除了我喜歡的綠茶布丁,甜品拼盤的味道一般。All in all, the food is not really great but it is a nice place to linger. Will prolly try other outlets at Hysan Place next time.總括來說,這裡環境不錯,但食物質素一般,下次再到希慎廣場試其他食店。…查看更多

Hiding away from the Crowds (and the Doraemons)

Harbour City is holding this massive Doraemon Event in celebration of the pre-100th birthday of the world famous robot cat. I went there last weekend and it was quite impossible to squeeze into the crowd as well as the Bologne Café which was serving a Doraemon inspired menu. I decided to spend my Sunday in a coffee shop instead. That turned out to be a pretty cool choice.陪伴我們長大的叮噹誕生前一百年生日,海港城為此舉辦了為小貓慶生的活動,本來跟一百隻多啦A夢拍照是有趣的事,不過香港地小人多,週末一到,大家蜂擁而至,人多得嚇人!不僅是天星碼頭外的空地,就連提供多啦A夢主題食品的餐廳也是車水馬龍,於是我決定轉戰咖啡廳,靜靜地享受我的週末。Inside the Harbour City mall, there is a Lane Crawford and if you take the escalators to the ground floor, you will find the Library Café hidden beside the Ladies’ shoes area. It is a small secluded corner perfectly cozy for a lazy afternoon.在海港城內的連卡佛有一間小小的名為Library Café的咖啡店,只要乘搭電梯到底層,在女裝鞋部拐個彎,便可到達那靜謐的一隅。They serve Fortnum & Mason tea and good coffee. I ordered their mocha and it was really good! They added just the right amount of sugar into the coffee. And the butter cookie was simple but nice. Sweet! The milk tea was pretty good as well!飲品方面,Library Café用的是英國有名的Fortnum & Mason茶葉,而且它們的咖啡很好喝,我點的mocha香濃之餘甜度剛好,配上鬆化的牛油曲奇,簡樸但美味!母親點的奶茶也滿好喝的!Same for the cheesecake which tasted better than its look. It was slightly sweet and slightly fruity.Simple yet tasty. It reminded me that classics can never be wrong. They last forever.芝士蛋糕其貌不揚,但味道不俗,清淡的微酸微甜的,經典而不落俗套。 Simplicity is good. I felt so at peace hiding away from the crowds having my own little moment sipping from the cup nibbling the cheesecake.簡單就是美。明明外頭人超多的很吵鬧的,我卻躲起來呷茶吃餅,心境平和得很,這大概就是我想要的幸福了。…查看更多

As promised, I revisited Passion by Gerard Dubois! There are so many choices I couldn’t quite decide on which one to pick. It took me some time to settle with their Raspberry Mille Feuille. I tried their regular mille feuille earlier and absolutely fell in love with it so I decided to try this other flavour.再戰Passion by Gerard Dubois餅店!甜點選擇太多了,在挑的時候掙扎了一會兒,終於決定要千層酥!之前吃過普通味道的,所以今次想要試試桑莓味。The pastry is still good with lots of crispy layers. The downside is that there was no caramel cream in between the layers which made the mille feuille a bit too bland for my liking. I think caramel doesn’t fit in with raspberries but perhaps some other puree or the like can be added to make the flavour richer. What’s more, the raspberries aren’t particularly fresh or sweet. Compared to the original flavour, this raspberry alternative is not as yummilicous and I am a bit disappointed because of my high expectations. I will prolly grab the caramel one on my next visit!酥皮一樣的脆,一樣的鬆化,不過沒有焦糖味的忌廉,只有吉士,略嫌淡口(我覺得焦糖跟桑莓不是太配,但大概可以加點果醬甚麼的令味道更濃更有層次感一點),而且桑莓不是特別鮮甜,比起超級好吃的焦糖千層酥,這個口味令我有點失望。下次還是要點焦糖味的!…查看更多

I had lunch at Madam Sixty Ate during the Restaurant Week in Hong Kong. It is a lovely place and deserves a looonnnggg post on it!我早前趁著香港餐廳週到Madam Sixty Ate餐廳吃午餐了,本人很喜歡這間餐廳所以決定為它寫篇長長的食評。Madam Sixty Ate is located in Wanchai right next to the infamous Pawn Shop, opposite to the Southorn Park, and a few steps from Passion by Gerard Dubois! There is a lounge, a rather sizeable indoors dining area and some tables outdoors overlooking the tramway. I love their décor and paintings so much I wish they were for sale! And I wish I could upload all my photos here to share with you!Madam Sixty Ate在灣仔當舖旁邊,修頓球場對面,糕餅店Passion by Gerard Dubois附近。餐廳內有大廳,另分室內餐飲區,和俯瞰電車路的室外位置。我很喜歡Madam Sixty Ate的畫作和裝潢,實在太美了,可惜都是非賣品,不然我一定把它們搬回家!Wine pairing is available but I wanted to remain sober in the afternoon so I just went for the 3-course lunch set. Bread and butter came after the order but the bread was cold and kind of coarse. The butter was however quite nice. There were some special herbs in it.Madam Sixty Ate提供配搭餐酒的中午套餐,不過我打算在中午時分保持頭腦清醒,所以只點了有三道菜的基本套餐。點餐後來了麪包,可惜不是剛出爐的熱麪包,但那牛油是滿好吃的,內裡有香草,味道很特別。 I picked Ham and Peas as appetizer. The presentation was lovely. On the side of the wasabi sauce were assorted chick peas, green peas and bacon bits. Above the green pea mousse were some fried garnishes which were pretty coarse in texture. Through the garnish tunnel was the long slice of ham. The spicy wasabi sauce was quite a unique twist to the ordinary pea sauce I expected. It was quite stimulating on the tongue but not my cup of tea. Same for the pea pudding, I found it interesting but not yummy. The cold cut was very salty and tasted almost like smoked ham. It was the best part of the dish especially when consumed with the assorted peas and bits. But it was overly salty in my opinion. All in all, I wouldn’t say the dish was delish but it was interesting.我點了豬肉配豆作為前菜。菜式排列得很精緻,綠色的泡沫實為芥末醬料,撒落在旁的是鷹嘴豆,青豆,豬肉粒,和綠豆慕絲,再上面是比較韌身的炸物,豬肉片則穿插於其中。芥末醬有點嗆鼻有點辣,跟我預想的普通綠豆蓉不太一樣,我覺得醬汁跟其他食材配合在一起味道很特別,但不是很合我的口味。肉片有鹹香,有點像風乾的醃肉,是整道菜中我最欣賞的部份,不過真的太鹹了一點。My mum ordered a swordfish plate for the appetizer. It was yummy and the temperature control was superb. The fish were lightly cooked and a bit raw inside so the tenderness and freshness of the fish were preserved. It reminded me of seared Japanese sashimi.同行的母親點了劍魚作頭盤。這碟比我的更好吃,廚師在温度調較方面控制得很好,魚塊煮得剛好,內裡仍是粉紅色的半熟狀態,很嫩滑,充滿了鮮味。這碟頭盤有點像日式的炙燒魚生呢,只不過調味和賣相大不同。Both of us had beef cheek as mains. I loved how tender and juicy the meat was. The sauce was divine! The peas were lovely as well as they absorbed the best bits of the sauce. The pastry around the meat was however too moist. The dish would have been better if the pastry was layered and crispier. This dish would have been perfect if not because of the pastry.我們倆都點了牛面頰作主菜。牛肉是嫩滑多汁的,墊底的豆角吸收了醬汁也很美味。不過牛肉周邊的酥皮卻是濕淋淋的,不鬆化,沒有層次感,給人畫蛇添足的感覺。若果一定要加酥皮的話,應該弄得更鬆脆才是。 As a finale, I had Citrus Tea Crème Brulee as dessert. The pistachio jellies were alright. The strip of crème brulee was better than the pudding-like jellies as the sweetness of the caramel was well balanced against the citrus tea flavour. It was a pity though that the top coat was not properly seared. Only scattered patches of the crème brulee were crispy! The berries were fresh but the taste of kumquats did not fit in. I guess it would have been better if more Japanese elements could be added into the green tea dessert (e.g. mochis, red beans, black sesame, other green tea flavoured desserts). Well, just saying.甜品方面我點了檸檬綠茶焦糖布丁。圓形的布甸狀啫喱味道一般,中間長條形的檸檬綠茶焦煻布丁味道稍勝,可惜表層烤得不夠焦,只有小部分是脆身的。最好吃的其實是新鮮的生果伴碟,雜苺都很鮮甜,不過柑橘的味道跟其他配料不太配。個人認為若在檸檬綠茶布甸以外加添一些日式原素會更好,例如白玉丸子,紅豆,其他綠茶甜點等。My mum ordered this Passion Fruit Panna Cotta dessert which looked kinda weird. It looked quite like a mess with bits and pieces all over the place. The long panna cotta strip was already broken into two pieces when it arrived at our table. There were passion fruit syrup, meringues and coconut sorbet on the plate but none was impressive.母親點的甜品是以熱情果為主題的。甜品的賣相好古怪啊!在上菜時碟中的意大利奶凍已然截成兩半,整體觀感只有零亂卻缺乏美態。碟上的醬汁,蛋白脆餅,椰子雪芭等亦無一吸引,因為不好吃所以我們也沒把甜點吃完。Finally, the drinks! The tea was good and the teapot in an East meets West style. Very stylish indeed. Not too impressed by the cappuccino though as the foam was not fine enough for my liking.午餐是包飲品的。茶滿好喝的,而且茶壺設計融合了中西文化,很有個性,本人好喜歡這種風格的。咖啡cappuccino則令我失望,泡沫打得不夠細緻,很快便沈下去了。All in all, Madam Sixty Ate is a great place for chillaxing. The service was great and the ambience relaxing (especially when they are playing pop songs in Bossa Nova version! Love it!), the décor sweet, and the food was interesting. I will definitely head back for more. My next plan is to go for Madam Sixty Ate’s two-course menu and have cakes at Passion by Gerard Dubois next door! That will make a wonderful foodastic trip!總的來說,Madam Sixty Ate是跟三五知己到來談心聚舊的好地方,那兒悠閒的氣氛容易令人放鬆心情(特別是它在播本人最愛的Bossa Nova 版流行曲!),而且食物質素也有一定的水平。我一定會再到此餐廳吃飯的,不過大概不會點甜品了,因為Passion by Gerard Dubois就在隔壁而已!…查看更多

I paid a visit to the rather new patisserie, Passion by Gerard Dubois, earlier. They have a variety of cakes, pastries, bread… they have have a deli corner with a wide range of salad, sandwiches and cooked food. Behind the deli corner is an open-kitchen where the patisserie chefs work.我在上星期到訪了這間比較新的餅店,他們賣的東西很多,有蛋糕,包點,多種甜品~另外還有很多熟食,沙拉,三明治等。小食吧的後面是開放式的廚房,能看見師傅們在現場工作。For the first time, I picked their Le Chocolat cake which looked really appealing to my eye. I thought it was wholesomely chocolaty but in fact it had lemony citron filling inside. I personally found the zesty flavour too overwhelming thus drowning the taste of chocolate. But the chocolate mousse itself was really smooth, rich and creamy which is something I appreciate. I was scooping out the outer layers to get the chocolaty part before I dug in for the sourness. There was a teeny weeny bit of sponge cake in the bottom layer but it was rather dry. I would have enjoyed the cake more if it were less sour and if it had a crust. Somehow I find the cake “imbalanced”.我挑了這個外貌漂亮的巧克力蛋糕,也沒有問是甚麼口味便要了一件,本以為是濃滑的巧克力蛋糕其實內藏玄機,夾心是超級酸的檸檬餡!覺得這麼酸的餡料與既甜且濃的巧克力慕絲不太配,若是採用微酸的水果或是榛果效果會較好,味道會比較平衡。不過慕絲真的很軟滑,而且朱古力味很濃。餅底是一層薄薄的海綿蛋糕,比較乾身,我還是喜歡脆身的餅底。I bought a mille feuille for my mum immediately after I finished the cake. It was 33C out there and I held the paper bag all the way from Wanchai to Causeway Bay to meet my mum. Surprisingly, it was still crispy and delish by the time we gobbled it up on the street which was more than half an hour later. (sorry, too rush for photo taking) The caramel custard between the layers melted a little but it was still yummy! It was so good that my mum went back the next day for another mille feuille! Trust my mum, she’s a mille feuille monster and she herself makes amazing mille feuilles. If she thinks it’s good, it’s good for real!吃罷糕我買了一件千層酥給母親。當時天氣有33度,我手持千層酥從灣仔乘地鐵一直到銅鑼灣,我們在街上急不及待把紙袋拆開,一口咬下,千層酥竟然還是鬆脆的(面頭塗了糖漿保存鬆脆感)!(太趕了連相片也沒拍) 焦糖味的吉士溶了一點,但還是很香甜(重點是沒有焦糖煮過頭引起的苦澀味),質地很滑很細緻。把母親大人很滿意呢,As for me, I got this Nutty Chocolate cake (I think it is called Nuit?) on the next day. Again, the mousse was really smooth and creamy. Apart from the chocolate flavour, there were nut brittles in the cake which makes the chocolate cake less boring. Similarly, I wish they had a crust at the bottom! I think it would have perfected the cake. Anyhow, I think this cake is much better than Le Chocolat.我隔天又回到店裡買了巧克力蛋糕,這次點的是有果仁味,慕絲依然軟滑,吃下去有很微小的果仁碎,不過我個人還是鍾愛有一層碎餅底或夾心的蛋糕。整的來說果仁口味是要比檸檬要好啦,朱古力味道果然是跟果仁更相配嘛。I hope to try out more Passion cakes and pastries soon as it is quite convenient to get there (right opposite to the Southorn Park and the MTR Wanchai Exit). They have many choices as you can see from the pictures so I guess it will take a while before I get bored of this shop! ;)Passion的選擇很多,應該不會太快膩掉的,所以想遲下再到店舖試其他款式的糕餅,反正位置在灣仔地鐵站附近(修頓球場對面),要再訪不是難事吧。;)…查看更多

My whole family loves Disneyland so we often visit the park with our annual passes which offer dining discounts at the hotels. Crystal Lotus is prolly my favourite restaurant there due to its stable performance over the years.我家的成員都是廸士尼的忠實粉絲,所以常來遊玩,而且我們都有全年通行證,在酒店吃飯有折扣,所以經常到水準穩定的晶荷軒吃飯。The entrance right next to the gift shop.餐廳在商店旁邊。We made a reservation 2 days ahead of Sunday but it was already fully booked during the golden lunch time. We could only get a booking at 11am. It was also possible to reserve the cartoon dim sums in advance just in case they get too popular on Sunday! >w<我們前天致電酒店想要訂座,想不到餐廳那麼旺場,黃金時段竟已被訂滿了,我們只能預約早上11時的時段,同時也預訂了數款點心,確保我們能吃到可愛的卡通小吃!>w<The Three Little Pigs Barbequed Pork Buns!三隻小豬,名為蠔汁叉燒豬仔包。Hello Little Green Men! They are Pork and Vegetables Buns!三眼仔,名為綠色小人菜肉包!My sis discovered a new item, the Chip and Dale Buns! Dale’s filling was red coloured and tasted like date-flavoured shredded coconut while Chip’s filling was lotus paste. The manager told us that this was a new dim sum so further improvements were required and the chef would work on improving it. I was really impressed by their positive attitude.在晶荷軒看菜牌的時候發現新上場的鋼牙與大鼻甜包!鋼牙的餡料是紅色的,吃下去像是拌了棗子的椰絲;大鼻的則是普通的蓮蓉。經理說這是新菜式,卡通造型仍有不足之處,師傅然會繼續改良這款點心的!我們聽了覺得他們真的很用心經營餐廳啊,即便是態度已明顯比其他餐館更勝一籌。All these cartoon buns tasted like “mantou” (white bread in the North) instead of the regular buns you get as dim sums. The dough tasted like that of Super Star’s but Disney’s fillings were much better. The buns stiffen quickly so be sure you finish them off when they are still hot.味道方面,包吃起來的質感像極饅頭了,包皮大概跟鴻星師傅選用的差不多,只是本人比較喜歡廸士尼的,因為感覺沒有那麼膩,而且餡料比較好吃。要注意包點很快便冷卻下來,上菜後記得不要只管拍照啊,要盡快把它們吃掉。Apart from buns, we also ordered a Mickey’s Seafood Glutinous Pancake. The taste was alright but the texture was too chewy for my liking. It was a bit too thick in terms of Chinese pancakes as it almost tasted like Chinese stuffed fish cakes.除了包點,我們還點了米奇煎薄餅,味道是不錯的,但薄餅太韌身了,而且很厚,感覺像是煎釀魚餅。We also ordered a hand torn chicken. It was really delish with very strong sand ginger and sesame oil flavourings. It is a lovely dish as the chicken meat was very tender and flavoursome.我們另外點了一客手撕沙薑雞,雞肉很嫩很入味,入口前已嗅到很香的沙薑和麻油味,好吃!The garlic and scallops dumpling was the best dim sum amongst all! Okay, it isn’t themed around The Little Mermaid but the presentation reminds me of “Under the Sea”. I really like how they placed the dumplings on the seashells. But what’s best is it really tasted yummilicious! The sweet scent of garlic fused with the freshness of the scallops perfectly and the smooth textured scallops melts in your mouth after the first bite. Omigosh can I have more, please?這個蒜蓉帶子餃是眾多點心中最美味的一款。我知道它看起來沒有其卡通造型的點心吸引,但它的外貌不俗(用貝殼盛載帶子餃也很有心思,令我想起小魚仙),最重要的是帶子餃的味道非常好!這點心很惹味,帶子入口即溶,一咬之後口腔裏都是帶子的鮮味和馥郁的蒜香,很可口,是令人覺得幸福的味兒!My favourite pear dessert is lightly sweet and moisturizes you. It warms you up with tender sweetness and the fragrance of the dried orange lingers in your mouth. Simply love it!這個陳皮燉雪梨甜點是我的最愛,每次必點,特別是冬天時感覺很滋潤。我很喜歡雪梨清甜的味道,雖然我不好陳皮,但晶荷軒的很香,而且它跟雪梨是挺配的,整個甜品讓人有一種暖暖的幸福感。Originally, my sis wanted to try their Steamed fresh diced garoupa and shrimp dumpling in light broth but they require pre-order (at least 3 days in advance).妹妹想要試他們的金魚餃,不過該點心要在三天前預訂,所以沒能嘗到。Finally, I am really pleased with the service at Crystal Lotus. Everyone was friendly and helpful which made my whole dining experience even more wonderful! Thank you for making my day! =)最後想稱讚晶荷軒的員工,他們服務週到,和藹有禮,為整個餐飲旅程加分不少!…查看更多

I have been looking forward to Lab Made’s opening as I missed the chance to visit the liquid nitrogen ice cream shop in Camden when I visited London last month! And finally, Lab Made opened yesterday! Yipee! The shop is quite small but there were quite a lot of staff which makes the shop a bit overcrowded (perhaps because it was the first day?) The staff was quite helpful though, and I love their uniforms (T-shirts with lab coat print)!我很期待Lab Made開業,終於食店於昨天開始營運了!Lab Made的店面小,但員工蠻多的,個人認為有點擠擁。可幸的是員工們都很熱心!(噢我很喜歡他們的制服)There were 4 flavours offered at Lab Made, and they are Mango, Cookies & Cream, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Chinese Purple Rice Dessert.Lab Made有芒果,雲呢拿和曲奇,椰棗拖肥蛋糕,和紫米露四款雪糕口味供客人選擇。Since I am not a big fan of purple rice, we only bought 3 scoops of other flavours. The ice-cream was smoother and stickier than traditional ice-cream, I felt like having a richer and stickier version of frozen yoghurt. I think the mango one will taste better if they reduce the amount of milk.我本身不喜歡吃紫米露,所以只點了其餘三款口味。雪糕比平日吃到的更軟滑和黏口,質感有點像比較杰身的乳酪雪糕。個人認為芒果雪糕的牛奶味太重,蓋過了茫果的鮮味。The Cookies & Cream is the best flavour out of the three but it is not something that I would remember and re-visit.雲呢拿與曲奇是三款之中最好吃的,不過老實說,味道不很特別,絶非那種好吃得令人難以忘懷的味道。The sticky pudding ice-cream was a bit too sweet for my liking but I guess it sticky pudding lovers will love it.椰棗拖肥蛋糕雪糕對我而言有點太甜,不過味道真的很像拖肥蛋糕(不太吃得出椰棗味,不過正好,因為我椰棗不是我的最愛),對於喜歡這種甜品的朋友來說是會是很出色的口味。It was awesome observing the staff making ice-cream in front of you with the magic touch of liquid nitrogen. The mystical smoke made me feel like I was in wonderland!我覺得Lab Made最吸引人的是員工製作雪糕煙霧瀰漫的夢幻‘表演’!The overall experience at Lab Made was cool. The taste was somewhat disappointing though. I was actually expecting more creative and tantalizing flavours such as bacon & cheese or foie gras. The current choices on offer are not very tempting. I hope they can make more fruity flavours for the summer, say Watermelon with plum would be an interesting blend.With the help of liquid nitrogen, I believe they could have created better recipes. The interesting thing about ice-cream is that you can actually vary the texture and flavour by adjusting very little amount of ingredients. Science is all about hypotheses and experiments. By experimenting different recipes, I am confident that Lab Made can create icecreams of better quality. I look forward to revisiting the shop with friends to see if they have made improvements.整體來說這次 Lab Made之行是滿有趣的,可惜的是味覺上的不足。我覺得現時供應的味道不是特別吸引,本來以為食店會提供更異想天開的口味,例如煙肉與芝士或是鵝肝。另外,我覺得夏日時可以提供更多的果味冰淇淋,例如西瓜和梅,會是消暑的法寶啊。既然店內有製作液體氮的機器,應當盡量好好利用,製作些創新的口味。製作雪糕有趣地方是只需稍微調整材料份量便能影響雪糕的質感和味道,我覺得新開業的Lab Made有進步的空間,以後若是不斷試驗食譜,定能改進,我期待以後跟朋友再訪Lab Made,吃到更美味的氮製雪糕。…查看更多

Smile Froyo is one of my favourite froyo shops in town. Their froyos are pricier than their counterparts but they're worth it. The froyo is much more yoghurty (perfect sweet and sour balance to me), firm and doesn't melt easily. You know, you pay for what you get.Smile Froyo 是我最喜愛的乳酪雪糕店之一, Smile 的乳酪雪糕比一般Froyo店要貴,但其Froyo的乳酪味道濃郁,酸甜度恰到好處,質地較結實而且不易溶化~ 嗯,一分錢一分貨。I'm a lazy foodie so I just picked one from their various default flavours. Smile Coffee is what I got. There're cookie crumbs layered in between the frozen yogurt as well as chewy coffee jelly strips. It is topped with crispy coffee crumbs and a piece of chocolate. A chocolate biscuit stick comes with the yogurt and I was so surprised that they have explosion candies inside the chocolate that jumps on your tongue when the chocolate melts away. It's a wonderful mix. In particular, the coffee flavour in the cookie bits on the top is so aromatic and matches with the yoghurt perfectly. The jelly part is a bit weird though because it's springy and I felt like eating coffee-flavoured elastic bands. The cookie crumbs are nice but I prefer the house crumbs from Crumbs which used to be my favourite froyo shop.我是懶惰的食客,故只從指定味道中挑選了咖啡口味。這杯乳酪雪糕上層為迷你咖啡曲奇脆脆,咖啡味香濃,非常鬆化,配上巧克力餅乾條,非常好吃。特別的地方在於他們的巧克力餅乾條內有爆炸糖。(台灣的朋友跟我説有跳跳糖,原來那是爆炸糖的別名!)另外,杯中的特製曲奇碎還滿香口的,不過我還是更喜歡Crumbs 的 house crumbs。比較奇怪的是中層的咖啡啫喱糖有點彈牙的,感覺像咖啡味橡皮筋!My friends ordered a Chocolate Lover which also comes with the chocolate pretzel stick and cookie crumbs. What is different is its choco-decor, crispy chocoball sprinkles, mochi and brownies. I stole a bite from my friends and absolutely fell in love with the brownies. They're super rich and chocolaty. The chocolate flavour lingers in your mouth. It's really designed for chocolate lovers!朋友們點了巧克力味的 Chocolate Lover,同樣的,杯內有包了爆炸糖的巧克力餅乾條,中層是曲奇碎夾心。不同的是乳酪雪糕杯綴以巧克力裝飾,上層灑滿了巧克力脆脆,還有巧克力蛋糕餅和糯米糍。我分了一杯羹,特別喜歡那特濃巧克力蛋糕,吃罷滿口都是朱古力的香味。喜歡巧克力的朋友應該會愛上這個口味!…查看更多

The flavour I had is caramel crisp. The caramel taste was strong. Each popcorn was plump and very crispy but I found the core a bit too hard in texture. My jaws were tired after munching half a box at a time (right, maybe I ate too much?)!今次試試的的是焦糖款式,味道不錯,焦糖味很濃,每一顆爆谷都脹鼓鼓的,而且非常香脆,不過我覺得質感有一點太硬了,我獨個兒吃了半桶以後牙關很累(其實是我吃太多了?)!Garrett's popcorns make a nice snack for those who have a really sweet tooth. The crispiness stays on for quite a few days before they finally succumb to the extreme humidity in Hong Kong. My comment is it won’t hurt to try, but I prefer popcorns with fluffy cores that melt in your mouth when you take a bite. Hot crispy (and fluffier) popcorns at the cinemas are still my favourite!總的來說,這爆谷是嗜甜者會喜歡的小吃;另外,它的鬆脆度在開裝以後能保存數天之久,在香港的超潮濕環境下真的算是很厲害的了!這小吃試一下沒差,可是偏心的我還是比較喜歡口感更鬆脆一點的爆谷,戲院裡熱騰騰的爆谷正是本人的最愛!One more comment on Garrett Popcorn. This shop refused to accept 50cents even though they are legal tender. For convenience' sake, you might want to prepare some notes for the purchase.還有一件值得一提的事,我妹在 Garrett 爆谷店付款的時候,店員們竟然不接受5毫硬幣。所以給大家一個小提示,到 Garrett 買爆谷時緊記多帶些紙幣啊。…查看更多

Those who’re used to visiting Super Star for dim sum lunches are prolly aware that they offer cartoon dim sums. When I visited Super Star a few days ago, I realized that they have this novel concept of “The Three Kingdoms’ Banquet”. The couplets and dim sum names on the order form are so interesting!常到鴻星酒家吃飯的都知道他們有不少卡通造型點心。最近飲茶的時候,我發現他們竟然弄了一個三國宴,點心紙上的對聯和點心名稱實在太創新太有趣了!I only ordered one dim sum which is called (translated) “Three Heroes Swearing an Oath of Brotherhood in the Peach Garden”. They’re actually sweet buns in three different flavours, including custard, sesame and dates. The sesame one is quite nice, custard is alright, but I hate the dates fillings. But then I’ve always hated the flavour of dates. I think the buns taste like “man tou” in the North as they have thin outer layers. Maybe the colourings would look better in mantous than in normal dim sum buns dough? Anyway, the buns must be served hot. Otherwise, the outer layer would become chewy and the bun would stiffen.我只點了樣子最趣緻的桃園三結義,其實是鴻星三味包,有奶皇,芝麻,棗子三種。芝麻味還蠻好吃的,奶黃還好,棗子我就不太喜歡啦(不過我一向不喜歡吃棗子的)!我覺得包子吃起來像饅頭,外面有一層薄薄的皮,不知道是否饅頭上色比較容易處理呢?提提大家,包點一定要熱食,放冷了皮便韌,包也硬了。The cute buns made my day because they're so cute!!!! This is not my first visit to Sevva but I was too full to try the infamous Sevva cakes last time so I visited Sevva with a group of friends (4 peeps) on a Saturday afternoon to try out the long-awaited Marie Antoinette Crave which was inspired by the Queen's beautiful fluffy hair. Seriously, the cake looks SO cute that I think it defines happiness!To be honest, the happiness stems more from the look of the cake than its taste. The cake's look does have a "wow" effect to it. But to be fair, the flavour is not bad though not as amazing as its look. The cake itself is a sponge cake in pistachio flavour with whipped cream and raspberries. The topping is cotton candy and its body is decorated with macarons. The cake is alright. Quite fluffy and the texture is almost like chiffon cake. The cream tastes fresh and the pistachio flavour matches well with slightly sour raspberries which further improves the sense of freshness of the cake. It leaves a refreshing impression. One of the downsides is that the macarons are too chewy and moist although they look so pretty on the cake! Maybe it's because they are stuck onto the cream. The glittery decor made of sweets are too stiff as well. But then I think you're not meant to actually "consume" them. They are afterall just decorations.Aside from the cake, I like Sevva's green tea latte. It's not included in any sets so I ordered it on an a la carte basis. I like the richness of both the green tea flavour and the milk. It instantly warms me up. It's a bit on the sweet side but I have a sweet tooth so I don't really care. But I do think it would go better with something savoury since the sweetness can then be balanced out.The staff were nice and they helped us take many pictures. Even offered to help us remove the cotton candy from the cake and cut it into four slices for us. We did hilarious things like tearing off the cotton candy, shaping the pieces into "moustaches" and taking pictures "wearing" them but the staff did not actually show us any signs of discrimination lol We were impressed! We actually invited the staff to sit down on the sofa opposite to us so he could take a group picture for us comfortably but he insisted on standing and bending over for the picture. We suspected he might have done this out of politeness (not wanting to sit with us since we were customers)? Anyways, the staff were helpful and we're pleased. =)Needless to say, the environment at Sevva is posh but cozy. My worn-out friends who've been working so hard nearly fell asleep on the sofas. It's great for a girls' day/night out. I think it's pricey but the tea was really enjoyable as a whole. We love it there and will re-visit this place for sure!…查看更多

A Fullfilling Full/half Dinner

A gathering with friends and my first dining experience at Full/half! We were quite early (6-ish) so there were just a few tables when I joined my friends. The atmosphere was quite cozy with a pinch of shabby chic. Even the cutlery and tableware were quite stylish. Definitely a place for a girls' night out!There were dinner sets available but we thought it'd be cheaper to order a la carte. Two of us had cream of truffle soup as appitizer and fresh urchin spaghetti (HKD80-ish) as mains . Another friend of mine ordered linguine with prawns.LOVE the truffle soup as it was quite creamy and thick. The tiny bits of mushrooms and truffles filled my mouth with sweet aroma! The size of truffles and mushrooms was just right so you have the right amount of these chewy bits for every mouthful of soup.The spaghetti with fresh Japanese urchin with cherry tomatoes and crab roe wasn't bad as well. I would say the seasonings were of just the right balance. Again, the sauce is rather thick. I finished the whole dish but my friend couldn't prolly because of the strong-flavoured thick sauce. I found the chewiness of spaghetti just right though. All in all, quite a fine dish.My friend got her spaghetti with prawns. She seemed happy with the main as well.Finished off with desserts. I had a warm chocolate flan (HKD38) and my friend had a jar of tiramisu and a piece of opera cake respectively. My chocolate flan was nice for the top (crisp enough) and the inside (hot chocolate flow) but not the base. It's weird because the consistency was different for the base which I believe is due to overcooking. It was chewy. Personally I would prefer homemade vanilla icecream with vanilla seeds to Movenpick's icecream.The jar of tiramisu looked impressive on its own! ^v^ My friend loved it. And same for the opera cake.We all love the restaurant and would surely head back for more! =)…查看更多
