My favourite Biang Biang noodles

Literally, a breath of fresh air among many restaurants making “authentic” noodles that are all adjusted to local taste. This restaurant gives you what good authentic Shaanxi food is supposed to taste like - heavy, strong and complex flavors with a lot of garlic, onion, salt and vinegar, and all different kinds of noodles.My absolute favourite is Biang Biang noodles - they are good with spare ribs, pork/beef/mutton dumplings or just meat-free with some veggies. Tender, thin and well-made noodles, and you can also choose the level of spiciness - I prefer BB spicy. Cold noodles with sesame sauce (凉拌麻酱面) is utterly delicious! So creamy with a generous portion of sesame sauce, that every Northener cannot live without! Even my husband, who is not a fan of Shanxi food, loves it. Love their snacks too - mixed chopped cucumbers (凉拌青瓜), so very fresh with some vinegar and spices, their meat pockets (肉夹馍), also noodle-like dishes 陕西凉皮、凉拌面筋 are my favourites, try them and you won’t regret.When eating with a group of friends, 大盘鸡, chicken steamed with rich gravy and potato slices is a must-try! You can also add some Biang Biang noodles to it to make it even more delicious.I love the staff in this branch, too - they are so very friendly and nice! To start with, I am not a big fan of steaks, and would usually never go to a steakhouse type of restaurant. I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend in mid-summer and was very sceptical at first, as I do not usually like steak that muchI was pleasantly surprised! I really liked the helpful staff at the butcher counter, they really explain everything well and help you make the right choice, my favourite steak being grass-fed tenderloin so far. Rather small, but deliciously tender and not chewy! I am also blown away by their mash potato, it’s so so so smooth and tasty, I love it! I am so sick and tired of being served potato mash that is made of instant mix in other restaurants, this mashed potato is truly awesome.I’m also addicted to their kombucha, a tea drink with probiotics, which is very crisp and refreshing, and not too sweet! Service is friendly and fast, so far I did not have any issues and difficulties with the staff. One time we ate there my friend had to wait for a while for his schnitzel, but that’s it. I honestly do not understand where do all these negative reviews are coming from?!Last time we took a Christmas menu, and were really happy with it! Simply the best Sichuan restaurant in Hong Kong (out of those I’ve tried). Even those of my friends who cannot tolerate spicy and are sceptical about Chinese food in general, massively enjoyed eating here and have been coming back for more. They manage to create that exact level of spiciness that brings a nice Sichuan feel into the dishes, but doesn’t kill your tastebuds. Sijie restaurant is also very concistent, every time I dine there the quality of food is top. My absolute favourite though are spicy cold noodles (四川拌凉面), dry-cooked string beans (干煸四季豆) and fish-flavoured eggplant (鱼香茄子). Steamed chicken with chilli sauce (口水鸡) is very tender, and chilly oil is so aromatic, yet not too spicy. This is not a Chunking-mansion style Indian food. The place is very spacious, exceptionally clean and nicely decorated, with a good amount of natural light. Waiters are very polite and helpful, yet not clingy (as it happens sometimes).Food quality is great! The aloo gobi and vegetable stuffed paratha I ordered were yummi! I asked for a very mild spiciness and the dish came in mildly spicy, just as I requested. Sauce was rich, vegs very tender and easy to chew. Also the amount of food was just right for one person, I was not super stuffed after this meal. Delicious! Definitely a place to go for tasty Indian food and nice ambiance in TST. Will be back! …查看更多

I first tried this foodcourt in winter 2018, and was impressed by well-made aperol spritz and delicious, moderately spicy, moist pad-thai. Decided to eat there today again, and was unpleasantly surprised to find out that the quality of food has dropped dramatically. A place where delicious food meets great service - honestly, a rare combination for Hong Kong. Menu is small and straight to the point - as the name states, you can find all kinds of meat there, including seafood. We got beef tartare, grilled rib eye and ‘ugly potatoes’ - which are baked potatoes cooked with chicken juices. Everything tasted great! I want to especially point out beef tartare, it was of excellent quality and just perfectly made! Rib eye steak was soft and tender, a bit fatty for my taste, but my husband loved it. We also shared a desert, a lime tart with coconut ice-cream, and it is seriously to die for, even for me, who usually doesn’t like anything of lemon/lime taste. The crust is thin and crispy (not hard at all!), filling was creamy and tasted very gently, and coconut ice-cream is my absolute favourite! I also need to mention their perfectly made Aperol Spritz! Another great thing about MEATS is no service charge, and all the tips you leave go to staff - which, of course, motivates the staff to provide good service and motivates the customers leave tips without feeling robbed, versus places with 10% service sharge and terrible service.The headline says it all - this is definitely the best opening of the last months. …查看更多

First thing before you even make a booking: find out everything about their “time slots” and what dishes are served during these slots. Apparently during our “time slot” only hot pot was served, and I couldn’t order any other dishes. I made a booking for 21.30 one day in advance, and we had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated - the place is super crowded. Other than this, I liked everything about this hotpot place. The outside decoration is quite nice, eliciting associations with Sichuan eateries. Staff was very friendly, polite, efficient and willing to help. They all speak good Mandarin and Englisg, so I did not have any troubles communicating. We ordered coconut chicken broth combined with signature numb and spicy one. Staff advised me to order BB辣, which is “baby spicy”, which I did, and it tasted great - I already lost my toterance for really spicy food ages ago. A great choice for those looking for a slightly spicy option. I mostly ordered vegetarian choices, all vegs were good, frozen tofu (冻豆腐) was amazing, and corn was very sweet. Sweet potato starch noodles (红薯粉) boiled in spicy broth were simply delicious! Another good thing is the sesame sauce (麻酱) station, where you can create your own sauce according to personal preferences, with chives, cilantro, crushed peanuts, fermented tofu and sesame sauce base itself. I loved it! Sour plum juice (酸梅汤) was refreshing, moderately sour and just yum!I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves good Sichuan hotpot.…查看更多

This is simply the best Italian I've tried in Hong Kong so far. Hands down! I am so sick and tired of overcooked dry pasta that you typically get in "Italian" restaurants here, Capa was like a breath of fresh air. First what I want to praise - exceptional service! Very friendly, polite, helpful yet not clingy staff. They offered us an extra chair so I could put my bags on it, and also served bread sticks and spicy olives as we just got seated - for free. Tap water was also offered immediately. Staff was smiling and joking witch each other and clients in a very nice and friendly, not vulgar way, which made the atmosphere very home-like.We ordered tomato and mozarella bruscetta, pasta arabiata and 4 cheeses gnocchi.Bruscetta arrived first, soft and warm bread covered in tomatoes, fresh mozarella and stripes of basil. Tasted just great! Bread was not too thin or dry, just the right thickness and crispiness!Arabiatta came with freshly grated parmesan on the side. Pasta was not over or undetcooked, thank goodness! It was more on a hard side, the tomato sauce was thick, rich and satisfying. I thought that the portion seemed small, but it was actually exactly the right amount of pasta!Next came 4 cheeses gnocchi, and it was definitely my favourite, even though the previous two dished tasted great. The cheese sause was so rich and creamy, and the gnocchi were soft and tender. A must-try for cheese lovers!We also ordered a dessert, strawberry&vanilla tart, but it was a bit too sweet in my personal opinion, so I didnt take any pictures. First off - its not the first Xinjiang restaurant I visit in my life, and not even the second one. After several years spent in Mainland I`ve been to various Xinjiang places, from shabby to decent ones, and tried lamb skewers(羊肉串儿), pilaf (手抓饭) and mutton dumplings (羊肉饺子) multiple times. I did not make a booking, so when I arrived the place was full. I was offered to wait for about 50 minutes or sit outside first, which I chose to do. I have no problem with waiting or sitting outside, but the waiter in his 40s met me with a face expression as if I ruined his life. Excuse me, how is meeting the clients with a grumpy cat expression is hospitality? I sat outside, they swiped the chairs and table for me and switched the fan on, but did not offer me a glass of tap water or anything. When my friend arrived and we started to order I was simply pissed off. For a simple question about the size of a lamb skewer I received a whole tirade, my question was not answered, but the lady (the manager I assume) rushed us to order and stated that 30 hkd per skewer is a cheap, cheap, cheap price and hurry up until we have them. Is this a restaurant or a hawkers bazar? I hate when the staff rushes you to order, can`t reply questions or blabs about how filthy cheap their prices are. Its not my first day in Asia , so stop keeping me for a complete idiot.So we finally ordered mutton dumplings, sour spicy shredded potato, lamb skewers and yoghurt drinks. Shredded potatoes were okay, not sour enough to my own taste, but generally okay made, not overcooked yet not too raw. Mutton dumplings were great! The best dish put of three, all cooked perfectly, non of them were falling apart. As for the swekers, they were too fatty. They left an impression of finely chopped lamb, pressed together and put on a skewer, not separate pieces of meat. Probably it just seemed so, yet the taste of these skewers was not brilliant - mediocre, to say the least. I can barely imagine how this is their hottest and most demanded dish. Yoghurt drinks were good, thick and not too sweet or sour, going great with mutton. As a conclusion, I can say that you should go to this place only in case you have never ever been to a decent Xinjiang place before and have no idea what their food tastes like or if you live close to Ba Yi, as it doesn`t worth coming here from Kowloon. Tired from walking in the merciless Hong Kong sun, we hop to this place for some dessers and refreshments. Preciously I've heard a lot of positive feedback regarding Potato Head.The place was not completely packed, but quite busy, with a big company of people celebrating something, so it was a bit noisy. Generally, the environment is great, very hip and chill, reminding me of the restaurants in Israel. Very pleasant sunshine, bright colors and the AC which was not crazy strong (doesnt happen a lot in HK!)We ordered Pia Waluh (a pumpkin pie with ginger) and Lapis Surabaya (layered cake with lemon curd). I also got a Megah Mule cocktail, which is a variation of Moscow Mule.I can say that Lapis Surabaya was nothing special, but was served with a very delicious citrus gelato that I liked a lot. Pia Wahul was not too sweet, which I liked, but also not a taste explosion. What was a taste explosion is an ice-cream served with it. It tasted very much like coconut, had a hint of spices and was incredibly tasty, we finished it in a blink of an eye! Next time I will be definitely ordering this amazing ice-cream!Megah mule had a generous amount of alcohol, I even had to ask staff to add a bit more ginger ale, which they did without questions asked. Generally quite tasty, even a bit too much spices for me.Keeping in mind that our visit happened on Sunday afternoon, this place should be heavenly relaxed and chill on the workday. After reading all the good reviews at Openrice I decided to try this place as well, but was a bit disappointed.I booked a table in advance, so we got seated straight away. The place is not too crowded, there is a reasonable distance between the tables, which is a big plus.There is a jar of water with mint leaves inside on each table, this is quite nice.Now for the food and drinks - first, we had to wait for at least 20 minutes before food arrived. Drinks arrived faster, but we also had to wait about 10 mins. I ordered a lemonade, which had the right hint of sour, but at the same time a bit too much sugar syrup.The burgers were mediocre. They were not awful, but also not tasty - the bread bun was SO thick I had to put away the bottom one - it was impossible to finish. The beef patty was pretty tasteless, I couldn't feel any flavour. Also there was no sauce inside the burger itself, so I had to add a significant amount of ketchup and mustard to fix it, as the patty was kinda tasteless. It is a burger I won't be coming back for. My husband though ordered a vegetarian burger and said that it was nice and tasty, especially for a veggie burger. He also didn't think that there was too much bread, and his verdict sounded as 'very good'.I must say that the staff was nice and helpful, when we asked for mayo, they brought it immediately, and did not charge extra for this. Generally the service was fast and friendly. Generally it was an okay meal, I'm not willing to come back though as I am not impressed by my meal. I've heard of this place multiple times and finally gave it a try.I ordered a Belgium waffle and an herbs green iced tea.Before I speak of the items I ordered, the menu given to me was all covered in the water drops. Not a pleasant start.First off, the tea. Personally I do not like my tea too sweet, but this one tasted so bitter as if the tea was being brewed for at least several hours. Even the syrup could not fiz it and I could still taste this bitterness. Mind was blended in such small pieces they were constantly getting inside the straw. In the end I just gave up and was sipping it from the top where it wasn't that bitter.Now for the waffle. It was certainly the worst waffle I ever ate in my life. It was so dry and hard I couldn't even use to knife to cut it. After it soaked a bit under the cheap wipped cream, it became possible to cut it at least. The closest I can think of to describe the taste is some old, very dry sweeet bread. This is not even close to how waffle is supposed to be like. A place where they are sold out of everything

Before we got the number to line up we were told that some items on the menu are not available, and asked to specify which ones. The lady on reception told us what is unavailable - that was 2-3 items. We looked at the menu and already made up our mind about what to order.In 20 minutes we got seated and themale  waiter announced that actually many more items are not available as they are sold out. Apparently what we wanted to order was all sold out. I asked to specify what exactly is not available, which the waiter did, and we asked for 5 more minutes - as we needed to change the order completely.In 5 minutes when another female waiter came over to take our order, guess what, we heard the same answer! This is sold out! Obviously, the first waiter who was specifiying what was sold out did not mention those so we thought they were available. I didn`t want to tolerate this anymore and we just left. This is unacceptable. First, it was on the  weekend, so the manager is supposed to assume they would have at least twice more people than on the weekdays and order enough groceries for that, not be be bloody sold out of everything. And second, the receptionist should give you a clear and honest reply in the first place on what is available and what is not, so you don`t waste your time waiting. What do you hope for, Holly Brown, trying to fool your customers like that? Put an advertisement next to the reception - the following items are not available, hope for your understanding! Or at least make all your staff to provide adequate information on this, not one person saying this, another person saying that.Learn how to make groceries purchase, educate your staff and don`t try to fool people around with "only 2 items are not available", while its 22. ccgxfoodfinds Being a receptionist myself, my job description is different from the waiters inside. So I would understand if the receptionist outside didn't know what was sold out, especially when you had to get a number - which indicated that the place was busy and food runs out faster. I haven't personally been there to visit yet, but just thought I'd shed some light on actually being in the F&B industry. :)

Finally found Dongbei food in Hong Kong!

Dongbei food is not easy to find in Hong Kong, most locals find it too "simple", and the flavour of it "salty" and "blunt". For me as a person studying in Donbei and living in Beijing for several years, Donbei food is in TOP 3 of best cuisines of China. So I went to this restaurant with great expectations. I ordered 油泼面 (noodles with spicy oil),醋溜土豆丝 (shredded potato with vinegar) and 拍黄瓜 (cucumbers beaten with soy sauce and garlic). Cucumbers arrived first. They were crispy, fresh, with the right amount of garlic and vinegar, very authentic Dongbei flavour! Shredded potatoes arrived a bit after, they were not too soft and not too hard, exactly the way they should be, and sour just the way I love it. I should have asked to put a bit more spicy pepper though.Last one was noodles - 油泼面, and I must say I was disappointed. First, the noodles itself were reminding me of just spaghetti noodles, while they are supposed to be flat and broad. Second, it was not 香 (fragrant) at all, just a lot of oil and soy sauce with red pepper on top of noodles. This is no 油泼面 (noodles with spicy oil) at all, it was extremely oily, not fragrant and not full of flavour. All you could taste was just oil. I really hope this dish could be improved. In general, aside from the noodles, the food was decent and very authentic. The service was fast, but not too friendly, like the waiters were not trying to be nice. Dishes were arriving fast, the waiting time was quite short. Also I have to praise the interior, very much reminds me of the restaurants in the northern China, with wooden chairs and red coloured menu.I will be definitely back for Beijing noodles in black sause (北京炸酱面), dumplings, Donbei stew (东北乱炖)and spicy-sour pork (糖醋里脊). …查看更多

我来过这家餐厅无数次,每次来都不失望!好多种汤底,我最喜欢是普通酸辣的,其实完全不辣,而是酸酸的,不油不腻,好喝极了!分量也好大,其实一个人很难吃完。一份严格来说其实够两个人吃的。我最喜欢点的小吃是皮蛋,好多青椒大蒜,又香又酸,放在汤里或在面上也是超好吃!这家的其他branches我也来过,包括深水埗、尖沙咀,旺角,还是觉得这一家最好吃。我想说虽然这一家的价格是很平的,staff的态度也不差!他们偶尔也许会忘记一些东西,但因为吃午饭的时候人太多我觉得这也可以理解。基本上态度很OK.赞!…查看更多
