Had heard about the cafe from another friend and decided to go when my baby got old enough. She is 9 months and they had a separate cushioned area for under 2 year old children. she got used to it straight away and my husband and i enjoyed our food at the table right next to the play area. we ordered wasabi beef, deep fried prawn with lime sauce, and taiwanese lu rou fan. Food was OK but too pricy and no set meal. Beef wasabi sauce was interesting but the beef quality was not worth the price, especially as the sauce covered up all the taste. Acoustics a bit too loud but that's kids - maybe different flooring or ceiling material could help. overall good experience for one time and enjoyed the walk at cruise terminal sky garden, but too over priced to be going frequently.…查看更多

Went for tea time and ordered the beef and spring roll soup noodles. the broth was ok and noodle amount is a lot, but the beef was very stiff and chewy even though it looked thin. not many toppings and the self-service bar was out of chillies and lime. also the menu showed 春卷 similar to that in Nam Kee (in the noodle) but turns out they are served on the side and are the deep fried ones.Waiters were rushing us at the end even though it was only 5:40pm. Seems like they were ready to leave by 6 (currently no dine in after 6pm), but they were not rushing other tables. A separate waiter apologised. small store so it is good they accept reservations. service was slow for 2 burgers.. i thought it was because of the onion rings but turns out my order was not taken in. :(staff taking order was friendly but didn't notify me that adding cheese was $12. i expected i would pay additional to add cheese but not that much, considering the burger was just over $100 (truffle burger). also the truffle burger seemed like a normal mushroom burger with truffle sauce, the menu should be more clear about that, i was expecting real truffles! …查看更多

we had dinner out in our neighborhood. food was not particularly vietnamese.. curry tasted lile hk cha chaan teng curry. red rice was ok and braised beef too but the coconut milk description in the menu seems inaccurate - couldnt taste it.10% off because of covid but i feel like 10% service shouldnt be included anyway because of the 2 dishes, the second one arrived after we had finished the first. the stafg were not friendly to explain that our ordered dish would take long in the beginning. if they told us we would have been more patient perhaps. but a table of 4 after us got all their food before our second dish arrived. …查看更多

A group of us booked ahead of time, so we didn't have to wait for our table. The lunch set was of two kinds: curry (with bread or rice) or soup with tagliatelle.Within the sets you could choose what you wanted to pair your curry with (fish, meat, veggies). For the tagliatelle you could choose that plus the soup. So I was very confused as to whether the soup was separate or the pasta was IN the soup.. I decided to give that a try. Most of my friends ordered the curry set, though whether that is French cuisine is questionnable. The taste was very similar to Japanese curry. The soup with tagliatelle was in fact soup with tagliatelle and whatever you chose (ratatouille, meat, mussels, salmon) in it. To keep constant with the Japanese example, let's say this was like ramen? I chose the cauliflower, basil sweet corn soup and ratatouille. Gosh, I haven't made a worse choice for food I think. The vegetables in the ratatouille were diced in very small pieces, making it almost like a tomato sauce on top of my soup and pasta. The soup itself also wasn't very strong, which would have been OK if it were just soup, but since pasta is tasteless too (just flour), there just wasn't enough flavour. Where's my sauce!!A friend who ordered the mussels with french onion soup and tagliatelle also wasn't satisfied. We though that perhaps the carrot ginger soup base with beef shanks may have been best because at least there was taste, though again the combination was a bit sketchy.I'm not sure if they're trying to save ingredients for dinner, and according to the dinner reviews, the restaurant seems OK. But lunch, no. Hidden away in a small street conveniently next to the Wanchai MTR station, this small restaurant has good price value and good food! It was very empty for a Friday dinner time, but I'd assume it's packed during lunch time. I've always been looking for new restaurants to try during lunch time, and here's a good one I found through a Groupon deal.The laksa had TONS of seafood inside, compared to other restaurants that have maybe a shrimp or two only. Squid, mussels, fish fillet, shrimp. The more I dug in, the more I found~ And the crispy garlic sprinkled on top was a nice addition of texture and heat. The restaurant changed its location from further down the street. At first I thought wow they halved the size to just a U shape bar table? But soon realised that they have seating down stairs (?) too, but didn't get a peek. Still, as before, a small size for a high demand lunch setting, so make your bookings or get there early! I luckily was alone so got a seat at the bar table.I remember their past menu was set in rows and columns for the diner to mix and match and create their own lunch set. But now, they have 10 or so sets, but less customization possible: It's just the usual of whether you want to add certain side dishes or if you want extra ingredients in your udon/ramen.I preferred the old way of ordering, but nonetheless food quality (and quantity perhaps) has improved!The udon was thick and chewy. The tempura was crispy and set apart from the noodle soup, so you could choose if you wanted to make it soggy or not. The curry soup was interesting. I guess when I ordered it I was just surprised to see it so soup-y, rather than the usual thicker curry sauce. This review will purely be based on Caliburger itself, not as a comparison to In-n-Out burger! I have tried In-n-Out multiple times in the US, but honestly my most recent burger was 3 years ago, so the experience isn't a fresh memory I can rely on. So here goes.Atmosphere: typical fast food shop with lights too bright and primary colours. There were multiple options for seating however, with a bar facing a wall, bar tables for 2, low tables for 2 and 4, a tall bench for group dining. Food: -fries were crispy but a tad too salty (but that makes you drink the soft drink right?)-patty cooked medium well, slightly pink inside, with good texture, a decent size, and tasted like real meat. -sauce was a type of Thousand Island, which I guess is what makes it like In-n-Out. The taste was similar.. or maybe that's my subconscious already brainwashed.. The sauce, however, was dripping as soon as I bit into the burger, the lettuce started to fall out, tomatos not aligned with the patty. Maybe it's a pet peeve of mine, but that's why I ordered the cheeseburger, so that the cheese would help keep the burger in tact while I bit into it! Not a long line to order, but a long line to wait for our food, especially at peak tea time (4:30pm). Had the signature 'Night Wolf' (the sundae with the eggettes) and the '3:15'. Definitely would recommend sharing as even though I love sweet stuff, but this is sweet overload! 5 of us shared 2 cups. Night Wolf: Loved the dark chocolate gelato, makes everything appear less sweet (hence you eat more o.o) The passion fruit panna cotta was just too outstandingly sour, though on it's own it tastes very refreshing. Caramelized bananas were a nice surprise in terms of taste and texture. Crumbs and what not were visible but didn't make much of a difference in the eating experience. Eggettes good, could have been crispier! Which leads to my personal thought, for the speed of things, maybe the owner should have collaborated with an existing famous 'gei dan jai' stall - like a spin-off. That way efficiency, consistency, taste, would come in one package! Anyway, after all the hype and me being afraid of missing out, I don't think I missed out too much. You know you found a good texmex/mexican place when they can do fish tacos!"Fish tacos, you want to do them right" (quote restaurant owner). And I definitely showed my appreciation for that. Slight, crispy, sauce was delicious! And they have waffle chicken too! Which my friend tried, though it's small for men's portions. Dinner, you can make a set with your own side and a drink. Price similar to something like Calimex, but definitely a different genre, if I can say that. If Calimex is compared to a typical equivalent of Chipotle in the U.S., I'd say Boomshack is a little more alternative, fitting in with the local neighbourhood, twisting the ingredients and sauces a little but not too much that it's a weird fusion I can't put my finger on. Like the name of the fish taco: Kung Fu fish. It has additional mango and orange pieces to add zest to the taco. Instead of guac, actual avocado, which meant the taco didn't get all mushy and wet over time (not that it takes long to eat it, but you know how messy tacos can get sometimes). Note dinner time is pretty quiet (we were there from 7-9ish). I'm guessing it's more popular for the after-drinks crowd. But basically I didn't go with enough people to try all the menu items! And I had training after, so couldn't indulge in dessert. My friend and I reserved a table in advance, JUST IN CASE, but it seemed most walk-ins didn't have to wait either. Unlike what the website showed (pizza, sandwiches, pasta), the menu also had sole fillet, duck leg, and other intriguing items that seemed appetizing. I ordered the fish, my friend ordered the duck, and we were both pleased with the presentation and taste of the food. The preparation time was not long, but also wasn't so short that it seemed like they were just reheating the food (or Cafe de Coral style). The lunch set includes soup and bread, but you need to pay extra 12-16 dollars for a drink (raning from fruit juice to the normal coffee/tea to latte/cappuccino).The staff were also very friendly and worked hard. Since the restaurant is a social enterprise training people with disabilities, I think they've done a good job to make sure that the trainees get good active experience in a way that doesn't diminish the level of service provided. Normally some may think that for this type of restaurant I'll lower my standards for service and food quality, but I don't think that's the case here. And most of all the environment adds a huge bonus! The new (well, my first time there) Tamar Park on a sunny day makes the whole experience just that much more enjoyable for lunch between a stressful work day. I would definitely come back~ …查看更多

I visited the restaurant with my family a little after 7pm on Saturday evening. Fortunately there were still some seats left, and even while we were eating, 3-4 more groups came and sat in without having to wait. Clean atmosphere, with the necessary 'order' and 'check-out' bells so that you don't have to shout across the room for service. It wasn't our first time, and the staff recognized us, not that there was any free food or anything, but the feeling was nice. And that's what I mean by Korean service, because like other countries in Asia, networking goes a far way, even when visiting restaurants. The staff are pretty fluent with the menu, so even when we ordered in Korean they seemed to understand. In terms of food, to have some bbq-ed meat is a must for korean food! Especially enjoyed the sirloin steak, marinated ribs, and pork neck. Then we ordered seafood fried pancake on the side with seafood noodles. A sturdy dinner for 4. They also do take out, so we ordered a spicy tofu soup to go for my brother who couldn't make it that day.Nothing in the menu you could go wrong with, except I tried the 'goong joong' rice cakes (soy sauce, nonspicy rice cakes), and they were disappointing. I have been to this small kiosk multiple times to take away their pasta. The sauce and pasta is delicious and comparable to a $100 restaurant dish. The portion is not bad either for lunch.This time I went back with a Groupon for 2 slices of pizza, a salad, and 2 cookies. The salad was less than ordinary, but the pizza made up for it. 2 big rectangles, not oily, crust just perfect between crunchy, and chewy, and REAL parma(?) HAM (for the ham&mushroom pizza). Although my order got forgotten amidst the people lining up to take away their lunch (or dessert: I noticed that in time for summer, they have gelato, which I'm excited to try soon!), they offered me a drink on the house to make up for it. And it wasn't like my food was left out in the cold. Plus, I knew how good it was, so I was willing to wait 10 minutes or so. I had come for coffee before when it recently opened but since then I see that they have developed some actual lunch worthy food on the menu, and for real cheap too (considering the district). $38 for a pasta set with a drink, which I unknowingly upgraded to green tea. The fine print said tea or regular coffee or coke included. So an additional 12 to make lunch 50; fine. The Share spaghetti I ordered, however, is dry, the noodles not fully cooked, and the sauce has strange hint of herbs in it that was trying to be Indian, but didn't make it quite there.I think for snacks, coffee I would go again but not for lunch. I’d rather pay more and enjoy my meal rather than eat because I don't want to waste food. But one good thing is that despite being a small cafe, they seem to have made a deal with the bar opposite them to use the space for dining in during the day.
