Just want to comment on this signature dish of theirs: 西檸煎軟雞Boneless; Deep fried, very crispy yet meat is still very tender; strong lemon flavor; somehow I tasted very strong butter flavor also; but a little too much sauceThis restaurant is super small, only 7 tables. Not a comfy place at all and nothing fancy. But service is definitely good. Feel so privileged to be the first one to comment on this new little cookie house!I've tried nearly all their cookies and my favorite is so far the one called "Knight in White" - white chocolate chip cookie. Its super sweet, actually the sweetest amongest all its products, but the taste is really addicting! Their cookies are somewhat similar to Mrs. Fields, being just a bit more crunchy and not as soft (which is good). $10 per piece, not cheap, same as Mrs. Fields.Another recommendation is the "Raspberry Apple Panna Cotta" ($22). I was really looking forward to this restaurant's opening, in hope that it would be some high-end fine-dining place with GOOD food. Food is good but really expensive... I mean REEEAAALLLYYY expensive! No nice decor, small restaurant, not many choices on the menu, its merely a place to show off the cash you got. Kinda felt like being robbed! Please do not be misled by its name and start thinking that its got something to do with the Nobu at InterContinental Hotel caz its got NOTHING to do with it. As confirmed by one of their cashiers, Le Nobu is simply another branch under A-1. On a typical busy workday lastweek, my sister and I came here for lunch. I was immediately attracted to this restaurant upon setting into its quiet, relaxing atmosphere after crisscrossing through the noisy buffet dining area. Including our table, only 4 were occupied. Its not easy to notice this place caz its tucked deep inside The Window Cafe (the buffet section). But once you set in to The Pizzeria, you'll feel a drastic change in environment.The starting bread basket was actually my favorite item. There were like 4-5 varieties, all warm, fresh, and soft. We weren't served the garlic butter as mentioned in previous comments, maybe because we came during lunch hour, but butter was good enuf also. It was so good that we actually had to ask for refill... =DI forgot what exactly was in the soup I had, something like cream of carrot and coconut, anyways, it was really really good... something I haven't had before. My main was the Seafood Risotto, which I added extra money to choose from their a la carte menu. Risotto was cooked just right, ingredients were fresh, especially the prawns, but portion was small. Finally came to try their 燒餅s - 武大郎& 牙擦酥I really really hate eating lamb and am very sensitive to its taste. For some reason, there was this very strong 羊肉-like 蘇味in the 武大郎燒餅. Wasn't impressed at all on this first bite. Took a second bite, wasn't as bad, took a third, even better, took a fourth, starting to like it... strange... and I soon tasted some 胡椒味instead. It wasn't as juicy as commented by others, or maybe the one I got was just not freshly baked (it was warm though).牙擦酥(or red bean cake) wasn't of my liking. 個皮厚左少少, and its slightly dashed with sugar on top. Kinda surprised at the size of this restaurant - very small; only a few tables. But I guess its not a big issue to me when the food is good.I suppose the below 3 are the must tries and I of course ordered these when I came last time. 1) 西檸雞- my favorite. The sauce wasn't too sweet / sour, and the chicken was crispy & tender, but on some pieces the batter was too thick.2) 焗魚腸- didn't like it much; tasted fishy (or maybe is it supposed to taste like that? not sure caz I've had it only once or twice before)3) 煙燻倉魚- very good together with the fruit salad that it came with. But I personally like this kind of fish to be prepared in the soy sauce pan-fried method (鼓油煎封)Other items:帶子炒西蘭花- very fresh scallops咸魚煎肉餅- tasted good, not too salty, but ain't special, not really worth a 2nd tryI'd come back for 2nd visit for sure and I'll try the 炸子雞next time since I saw almost all tables were having this dish.…查看更多

Upon 20 minutes' unsuccessful search for a table to fit our 8 pax, we finally settled at this restaurant for dinner last friday - a small, cozy, warm, dimly lit place with a 1/2 open kitchen - liked it very much.The food was really quite disappointing though. My appetizer foie gras piece was big but completely over cooked (kinda looked like 豬潤). I had the mixed mushroom risotto which was also completely over cooked like congee. Aside from the risotto's poor texture, it didn't taste good either. But I guess the atmosphere made up for the poor food. My family comes to 楓林quite often, be it for inviting guests or just for normal casual dinners, because they are always able to sustain their quality. But yes, it is quite pricy.My favorite of my favoritesss is their 椒鹽焗中蝦. Shrimps are always big and fresh, cooked just right, seasoned just right. 炸乳鴿is good too, but sometimes the center is not hot enough (but its cooked? so i guess the pigeons were cooked before frying). Not a must-have for me.Everytime we'd wrap up our dinner with a complimentary 合桃糊+湯圓dessert and I think they offer it to all customers. I really think they make the best 合桃糊. Its not thick & pasty or milky, but you can actually still see the well grounded walnuts and feel the bits.Indeed there are lots more fancy restaurants out there paying this price, but we like it here simply because of its old style, casual atmosphere and high quality food.
