Heard how good their roast goose was from a friend visiting HK.My first visit was to their other shop also in WanChai which I found so-so, hence, no review.Found out they have another shop between CWB and WanChai so decided to give it another go.The roast goose was so good, absolutely yummy, crispy skin, juicy meat, and most important, without that thick layer of fats beneath the skin like many other shops. a small insignificant shop in Tai Kok Tsui old building.Shop front isn't much to catch one's attention. Was walking around the area exploring, looking for a new place to try out.Ordered a starter, cold potato with garlic, not bad. Me for one who always limit my carb intake I finished half a portion alone. Set dinners, a Sour Pickled Veg Fish and a 回鍋肉 (Twice Cooked Pork, direct translation), both served with steamed rice.Both dishes are so delicious, served piping hot. Found this by accident while walking around late afternoon and decided to grab something light.Ordered a Build Your Own Bowl and a coffee. A small shop located at a quiet corner, not too noticeable. Food counter didn't display tons of food, one might misunderstand food mostly sold out.Back to salad ordered, it was really yummy and fresh. Crunchy fresh greens, not those turned brown round the edges. Carrot was nicely grilled, not mushy. Beetroots are soft enough but still firm. Yes, yes, this restaurant boasts a 1 Michelin star. the last visit was late last year, roast goose was so good, so good.This visit, the roast goose, skin is chewy, rubbery skin, is supposed to be crispy, the meat is dry. Charsiu not bad, not great either. Considering the price, not a good value for money paid.The service, madame-in-charge, literally shoo-ed us away, after 10mins food was served, before we can even start drinking our drinks. She came by, poured our drinks into take-away cups and very nicely asked us to leave. Used to be our (sister, mom & me) go-to Korean place. Last visit was pre-Covid.This time is a disappointment. Ordered total 4 set lunches for 3 persons. 2 x bbq beef, 1 x ginseng chicken (half) and 1 x slivers of beef (forgot name) and a seafood pancake, yes, a lot for 3 persons, but we were so looking forward to dining here again.The bbq beef, meat is tender though taste on the bland side. Ginseng chix, soup a bit watered-down, needs more flavour, not just salt. Slivers of beefs, so much sugar, it's like sweetened meat with lots of gooey starch, took a bite each and left the entire meal untouched. Had lamb craving since last night but wasn't satisfied with my lamb supper. Ordered 2 set lunch, a lamb and a prawn pasta.Soup, beetroot & sweet potato soup. Missing the beetroot flavour, very mild taste of sweet potato. on the watery side.Salad. It's ok, standard salad, lettuce with roasted sesame dressing topped with an half-boiled egg.The pasta, would prefer more flavour, it's on the bland side for both my husband and myself. Soup base is nice, very lamb-y taste & flavoured. was walking around CWB and made this discovery. The soup base is nice and strong, not like many shops which just added salt into watered down soup. The 4 dishes chosen, all yummy. Drank most of the soup base since it's so good, and, no thirsty side-effect, which is a good sign, no/not much MSG added. Iced lemon tea, made the way I like, not too strong and very refreshing. Was looking for a place for dinner, to meet up with a friend haven't seen for some time and this place caught my attention.This Chinese restaurant is, should I say, hidden (?) behind a bar. Well, restaurant is not too visible from the outside, all one can see is the bar from outside.Food, we both ordered the all seafood set menu. Food was really yummy. The starter BBQ iberico pork is so good it melts in your mouth. Of coz not to forget the abalone too. Next is soup. my 2nd visit here. Was searching for a good and authentic sour vegetable fish, and someone on YouTube recommended here. Am so glad I took a risk and tried. The sour veg fish is so good, bursting with flavour, lots of spices, which is just my cuppa.The garlic sliced pork and saliva chicken, words can't describe how much I enjoyed them.Chilli stir-fry beef, well, maybe it's a personal thing, can be better.
