TGIF! We’ve been here a few times but never on a Friday night! The place is buzzing with people, the food is just as yummy as its usual days. Tonight we had a few more cocktails than usual and got to try their drinks menu a bit more, compliments to bar tender, can see his focus and enthusiasm on making the drinks! Whenever we think of yakitori, sashimi, sushi... or just Japanese food in general, we think of this place! We’ve been here for a few times now and each time the food is just as good as the last! It’s Mother’s Day weekend so we decided to call and book a table in advance, just in case! The table was ready when we arrived, decent amount of spacing in between tables which made the environment safe and comfortable to eat in. Their menu is really nice and clear with different options of a beer set which includes a pint of Japanese beer + 3 yakitori dishes giving you great flexibility. We ordered a range of raw and cooked food and both were really good. The star of the night was probably the tempura (in which I forgot to a photo of) and the wagyu beef fried rice! The tempura sauce was nice and hot so it was super yummy when you dip the crispy tempura in! The fried rice is flavoursome and it’s a massive bowl, well worth it! Recently bought some traditional Chinese snacks from Agape! It took a bit of time to arrive cos I got it to be delivered via SF Express instead of picking it up, but I can assure you, the wait was well worth it!!! I got the Baba almond cookies, it was super duper yummy, tastes even better than some of the “bigger brands” (brands that I do not buy anymore). The packing is not as fancy as the big brands, but it’s still neat and tidy. I also got 馬仔 and 豬肉乾， which were both not too sweet which is good! The next thing I want to try is the Madeleine cake, I’ll have to go in person for that! I strongly recommend this place, it’s a place full of good people, each with a story to tell, good food and big hearts! Spending our money wisely on 🖐🏻☝🏻 golden weekend! With the virus still going around, for dinner, we decided to give this fried chicken shop a shot! We ordered 1/2 portion of the yuzu fried chicken, it was still crispy and juicy by the time we got home. There was a generous amount of yuzu sauce on the chicken so that gave it a real nice refreshing touch, not as oily/“hot air” as usual fried chicken! Found this lovely cafe hidden in the back street of Central, what a gem! The staff are kind and smiley and can definitely tell they’ve put their heart into the decoration as well as their food and coffee making. We ordered two of their ciabatta sandwiches, Avocado and Smoked Salmon and a “Winter on Fire” sandwich (I had to ask for the Winter on Fire ciabatta was - crispy chicken with kimchi mayo). All the ingredients are very fresh and the bread isn’t stone hard (which some are). The Winter on Fire in particular was my favourite as it is not a common sandwich combination so I was very excited to try it. A lovely relaxing environment, kind and caring staff and most importantly, marvellous coffee and food selection. They make everything one by one so it’s a slightly longer wait as compared to the larger chains, but I can assure you, the wait is well worth it! Their Apple crumble cheesecake is a must try too! Waited 20mins for a club sandwich to arrive and when it did arrive, I had to take it back to the counter to double check whether this was really my club sandwich?!?! My understanding of a club sandwich is a sandwich of squared white/brown bread with ham, turkey and tomatoes and etc... this came as a Ciabatta!! $71 for a Ciabatta with little bit of ham and turkey meat, no side salad or even a bit of chips! After walking through the busy street of MK full of people screaming or “performing”, we got to Bigpack Cafe for a little rest. The tea sets are yummy and arrived in a timely manner. very well presented and at a decent price. Staff here are friendly and very smiley making you feel very comfortable. Came here for an afternoon tea, despite all the negative reviews they have on here... their food were actually really good. We had the afternoon tea set, a calamari and a wild berries cheese cake, both in which were really yummy What surprised me the most wasn’t actually the food, but the staff. The young gentleman who was responsible for the outdoor table was so sweet and caring. It's our first time trying out a Yakitori restaurant in our local neighborhood... damnnn what a gem we found! This little place is family run, so you can feel they take their service and quality of the food very seriously. That passion! The waitress is smiley and gives really good suggestions on what the daily specials are or what sake to get and etc. All the skewers are made to order to ensure everything comes to your table nice and hot. We ordered quite a few dishes, but I didn't take photos of all of them. My favourite one however, was not a skewer, it was one of their signature dishes.
