There was a big crowd of 12+ people next to our table. V noisy as one or two of them started yelling or laughing in full force. Food: ok la. The egg roll tasted alright but the carb meat crackers were pretty bland. The Raw fish not as good as other reviewers suggested - one may find fishy smell with one or two of sushi among a plate of 10 or the sashimi bowl. Deep fried yakitori were underwhelming. Calms in saki tasted ok but the calms didn’t have much meat. The baked oysters were bland too. Drink: The plum wine and sake were good, and they were the best tasting items for the night. …Read More

We have always wanted to support independent restaurants with a heart. my second time in a month but it failed me badly. we ordered from the lunch menu 2 soup noodles with 2 sides, and a "lemongrass sardines salad" in the special menu. The noodles are ok but he soup kind of sweet, the "salad" is a nightmare- the sardine literally came straight out of a can- am fine with canned food but1) they r chucky n hard n tasteless, 2) the dressing is minimal n nothing resembles the dish description, 3) there is no salad but a piece of lettuce beneath the sardine pcs. I love grilled fish. After going thru the reviews by others, decided to give it a trial. we ordered grilled snapper ($168) n Hamachi head ($128) and a few side dishes. I didn't have a problem with a frozen Hamachi head despite the meat is a bit loose and doesn't have much oil that one would normally expect. To be fair, the portion is bigger than other restaurant. Another restaurant with all the wonderful reviews and patched with M stars. 1. V nice deco n ambience, nice neighbour for a good start. 2. Wine by glass choices are limited but good selection. 3. As to food, we ordered escargots, octopus salad, fish (hake), n shellfish pasta. The mains tasted much better than the appetizers. The snails are tiny tiny n tasted bland, i.e. u are essentially eating butter n garlic. The octopus salad is better - seasoning is good but the octopus is in tiny pieces and tasted bland as well. 4. The mains (fish n shellfish pasta) are much better. They tasted a lot better due to the sauce and broth. Again the fish n shellfish themselves don't have much favor of their own. After viewing all the good comments ppl made about this restaurant., as a big fan of Italian food, must go and try.Ordered 2 "catch of the day" seafood soups, one pig cheek in tomato sauce pasta (forgot the name), and linguine vongole, I always believe if an Italian restaurant can't cook its pasta well, forget about the rest of the menu.It took some time before they served us bread. I expected them to be warm but they were not. - Seafood soup: I can tell they are not made from canned soup. But I prefer they use a less impressive name as it only leads to disappointment. Honestly I can't tell which ingredients in the soup should fall under the "catch-of-the-day" caption. I bet half of the stuff in the soup are fresh from frozen. Catch of the day?... from the freezer I guess.- The two pasta are total disappointment. Both over-cooked so badly that we gave up one of them. Mama mia, i feel cheated.Lesson learned: An authentic Italian name doesn't necessarily mean the food is equally authentic. After watching the TVB interview, was intrigued by their 酒浸鵝肝.With great expectation, walked all the way there from Wanchai MTR station for lunch.Obviously ordered 酒浸鵝肝, as well as deep fried pig intestine, and pan-fried chicken w/ noodles. The verdict: - The goose liver is smooth like butter but lacks the taste and aroma of foie gras. - The pig intestines is skinny, but doesn't have the "end of the butt" smell you sometimes find with the street-hawker version. - The pan-fried chicken tastes like the ordinary frozen chicken thigh (not recommend).
