This place is perhaps my favourite of the Tsim Sha Tsui based vegetarian Indian shops (there are at least four biggies now if you're not willing to be harangued by the traders in Chungking Mansions). It's the newest addition to the scene but I've been a few times already. This time I arrived early, not too long after the 6pm opening time. I ordered one of the set meals. (I was very hungry.) This time I arrived early, not too long after the 6pm opening time. I ordered one of the set meals. (I was very hungry.) The waiter told me that there would be a 20 minute wait on the meal but I wasn't in q hurry so that worked out fine.

The first thing to arrive was soup. Actually the soup was a little too much just peppery heat and not enough flavour. I mean it was OK but not as good as some of the other dishes I've had there.

Then came the main meal part, it doesn't look like a huge amount but don't be fooled, the quantity is enough to stuff an average person pretty fully.

Included were:

- chana masala - this had an overpowering cardamom taste, I like cardamom but this was just too much, it felt as if every mouthful had a cardamom pod in it.

- pulao rice - lovely, lightly-spiced rice dish containing cashews, cauliflower and some chunks of apple. This went very nicely with the curds.

- crispy fried vegetables - these were really tasty, morsels of tender vegetables deep-fried in an attractive pinky-red coloured batter. These also went well when dipped in the curds.

- roti - (you have a choice of roti or naan), nothing outstanding here, I think I would have preferred chapattis.

Actually this time was least satisfactory of my visits, the total bill ($170 for the meal and a canned drink), was just more expensive than I felt the food was worth. The other times I've eaten here (once solo and twice in a group), I felt that it provide better value for money. I will come back for sure as they have some great dishes on the menu (paneer dosa), but I won't be choosing this set again.
