I don't understand why this place doesn't have more negative reviews. I booked this restaurant on a Saturday and managed to get a reservation the same night (1st bad sign). My wife and I were excited because this place offers sushi and a vegetarian menu. Perfect for us ! so we thought.
When we walked in, the first impression wasn't great. Really cold atmosphere, like a hospital, with a slight fishy smell. (2nd and 3rd bad signs).
Service was what you would expect from this kind a place. The problem started when the food arrived.
I ordered the vegetarian menu. The 3 first dishes were fancy looking, but completely taste less. Raw carrots, raw okra just cut in half, raw daikon, etc ... What I mean by raw is completely unprepared, no seasoning, not marinated, just cut (nicely cut) but with no taste.
Each dish came with some sort of consomme or jelly but completely failed to elevate the boringness of the dishes.
Then came the 4th dish : fried potato puree in tofu skin. Fried puree didn't seem to be appropriate for the cost of the menu, but well, I gave it the benefits of the doubt. It turned out to actually taste bad ! not tasteless, just bad. It had a oily taste that you would never find in any decent japanese fried food.
My wife sushi tasted like average quality fish (think Sushi Take-out average), with a cut way too thick for sushis.
At this point we decided to leave and finish our anniversary somewhere else.
We talked to the chef and he was really friendly and understanding. He offered to get us back in for another diner at a good price and told us he will work on improvements.
It all sounded good until they tried to charge us for the full meal (even for what we didn't eat) with a 10% discount !!!
After asking, they gave us extra discount but still charged. Guess what, I am not giving them a second chance and I am writing this review.
We finished our evening at Frites that I would recommend a thousand times before this awful sushi place.
