A new cha chan teng opened in Causeway Bay. For some reason there has been a lot of cha chan tengs opening in these last few months. I decided to try one of the new ones and that was 文華冰廳 (English name: Man Wah Cafe). 文華冰廳 was once this small old style cha chan teng from Mong Kok. Menu is in English and Chinese. They have tablets on the side of tables. You can use that to order by first scanning the QR code on the side of the table (this will let them know where you are seated) and then place your order. WOW!! Impressive. Of course, for the less tech savvy or you don't have a tablet near by, you can order from a waiter, old school style.
After looking around at what people were eating, I noticed majority of people ordered the pork liver with macaroni. Was this THE item to order? I followed like any good sheep.
For $58, you get a bowl of macaroni with pork liver, slice of toast and scrambled egg and a drink. The egg was ok. Simple but a bit on the watery side. The toast was crispy.
This is the pork liver with macaroni. You get a choice of noodles and I wanted macaroni. They messed up my order the first time by giving me spaghetti but when I informed them of the error, they rapidly changed it without any arguments. This was ok. A bit too much ginger than other places. But the liver was tender. The macaroni was not mushy and soft. Surprisingly al dente.
Fairly ok tasting food. Prices were reasonable. Place was clean and tidy. I'd be back.
