It has been awhile since i last met up with my friends, thus we decided to catch up tonight over dinner. One of them suggested to have seafood steamboat and we chose Grandpa's Porridge Shabu Shabu. It was located at Dundas Square, few minutes walk from Yau Ma Tei MTR.They offered ala carte menu for their seafood as well as buffet style. Soon after, they served us a big basket of raw seafood and the chef was very generous with the portion.
Fried milk bun - It was fried till soft and crispy, with milk fillings in it. It was creamy and milky as well.
Prawns only took awhile for it to be cooked, and the skin was easy to peel off. It was very fresh and sweet, chewy as well.
Abalone was cooked till very chewy and smooth, able to taste the freshness.
Short neck clams was very juicy, absorbing the essence of the soup. it was chewy and sweet too.
Chicken was cooked till soft and smooth, juicy as well.
Clams were juicy and chewy, with slightly bigger in size. For the price, crab was very huge in size and was very meaty. It was cooked till very juicy and tasty, sweet and soft as well.
Sliced beef was very thin and tender, juicy and chewy as well. Sliced pork was thin as well, chewy and soft too.
Hand made beef balls were very chewy and juicy, able to taste the freshness. Dumplings were cooked till soft and smooth, juicy as well.
After we have finished our ingredients, the staff started pouring those porridge into the soup base and mixed with it. As the soup absorbed the essence of those seafood ingredients, the porridge was very sweet and flavourful, thick in texture too.
