H, L, and i decided to go to daddyos for some good cheap eats last friday. daddyos is a small, casual restaurant with roughly 20 seatings and specializes in american pizza. it was founded in early 2007 by eddie li, a self-made chef who experimented different recipes when he was young. even though the restaurant has only been opened for slightly more than 2 years, it has already gathered a small group of loyal followers.the place was located on staunton street right next to cenacolo (one of my fa
the place was located on staunton street right next to cenacolo (one of my favorite pasta restaurants in hong kong despite its ABSOLUTELY horrendous service, to be reviewed later), and across from jaspas. we got there at 8.30pm and the restaurant was packed, so the three of us could only sit at the bar table with some shaky wooden stools (seriously, i am a 50kg female and still found the stool very unsafe. they've got to replace them soon before someone gets hurt).
we ordered only 2 dishes b/c food here cools down v quickly. the first dish to come was poutine, fries with (lots of) cheese, bacon, and gravy. this is supposed to be a signature dish at daddyos but i found the fries very soggy, wet, and lacked the classic crispy outer crust that i love fries about. there was also a lot of oil at the bottom of the dish, which i believe was because the fries were not deep fried enough and the cook didn't drain them long enough.
about 15 min after placing our order, there came our the main entree, fabio pizza on wheat bread. i personally do not like the wheat bread which makes a stiff, chewy, mushy pizza crust instead of a thin crisp that i am hoping for, so the wheat bread crust is in the menu probably more a gimmicky thing than gourmet reason. but hey, maybe it's just me. nothing particularly special about the toppings - it's pretty much the same stuff i get from pizza hut.
having said that, the staffs were very helpful and polite, and for the price we're paying i really shouldn't be too demanding. but next time i'll probably go back to baci's.
