I had high hopes after hearing good things about this restaurant from a friend of mine who has dined here many times. We opted for the 2 of the set dinner menu which includedysters-fresh, nothing out of the ordinary. Beef carpaccio-really small portion since it was supposed to be for 4 people. Got 6 very thin slices of beef but the meat was well seasoned and tasted really good
Butternut squash soup-barely warm when it arrived at the table. Lacked flavor and seasoning, had no salt. The chunks of squash were also not cooked enough as they were very hard and crunchy.
Oyster risotto-was OK, I felt the oyster flavor was really over-powering. The rice was under cooked and some grains were still hard in the center. I also wondered if they added any salt.
Caesar salad-typical HK style Caesar salad where the dressing tastes more like mayonnaise than anything else. It seemed like the salad had been prepared too early as the lettuce was started to get too soft after being dressed.
Spaghetti Carbonara-The 2nd best dish of the evening. Nothing out of the ordinary
Penne pasta with tomato sauce-not much to say here, very straight forward dish.
Steak-large portion, pretty good
Half roasted chicken-very small chicken for 4 people, not enough salt or flavor.
Bread with butter
The chef really needs to learn to taste his/her food once in a while. I couldn't believe the soup had such under-cooked pieces of squash in it. And everything was very bland and lacked flavor. By husband (former chef of 10+ years) could not believe how expensive it was for how poor the quality of food was. I would not recommend going to this restaurant.
