We visited the new Passion by Gerard Dubois at Lee Tung Avenue last weekend - it was very popular even during post-lunch hours at 2pm-ish so we decided to get some take-away french pastries home. As a hazelnut lover, this cake is always one of my top picks. The dark chocolate coating on the surface is mega chocolate-y, with the core loaded with super moist and thick hazelnut cream filling. I like that the cake tastes a bit less sweet than the typical Nutella flavor but is still very rich and nutty.

One of the signature cakes at Passion with white chocolate mousse, pistachio and dark chocolate granache as the core - it is my boyfriend's favorite. Refreshing and delicious, this pistachio-tuned La Boule Chocolat is a truly dedadent dessert. The dark chocolate mirror glaze on the surface carefully wraps the white chocolate mousse and granache inside, supported by a chocolate crunchy base. I like the base a lot - I can taste a bit of honey out of it and it's also a bit chewy. The white chocolate mousse is not overpoweringly rich so it's easy to finish off. The main character of this cake - the core center with pistachio/dark chocolate granache is very richly-flavored and delightfully refreshing.

This is my favorite at Passion - classic Mont Blanc with a refreshing passion fruit twist. The puréed, sweetened chestnut cream is very delicious, and the fruity-tangy middle has added an important refreshing touch, and has also helped balance out some of the sweetness of the outer layer. With the proper balance between freshness, acidity and the aroma of passion fruit, I'd say the cake is extremely light and delicate.

This Earl Grey & Pear highlights the fragrance of the Earl Grey tea and played up the refreshing sweetness of the milk chocolate mousse and poached pear pieces - quite an original combination of flavors, which surprisingly appealed to me. There are poached pear pieces on top of the cake and in the core layers, they are delicately flavored with the Earl Grey tea/chocolatey mousse and go wonderfully with a cup of tea!
