Similar other Wooloomooloo branches, Wooloomooloo Prime is another steakhouse that serves Australian beef, with a bonus of the breath-taking view of 27 storeys and excellent service. Surrounded by large glass windows, the restaurant was lighted up by the natural sunlight, and the beautiful harbour view can be seen from every table of the restaurant. Wooloomooloo Prime is certainly the place to relax and reward a week of intensive work.Appetizer: Smoked salmon, tiger prawn and sour creamed cucumb
The focaccia was beautifully made as every bite was filled with the wonderful flavour and aroma of olives. The tiger prawn was also quite fresh as the meat was firm from the tip to end.
The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection. I ordered my beef to be medium rare, and as I dig my knife into the meat, the glorious pink juices flooded the opening. The meat was tender, yet still managed to have certain texture in it. The vegetables are so cooked well as it is not coated with excessive oil.
Frankly, the gelato does not go with the carrot cake. They stand out on its own when tasted separately. The green tea gelato was mildly sweet, and tasted greatly of milk, lacking much of the green tea flavor. In fact, it resembles much of the green tea ice cream from an inexpensive local brand.
The carrot cake, on the other hand, was brilliant. The cake itself was only slightly sweetened, and was filled with crunchy walnuts and thin carrot shreds. Together with the wobbly panna cotta, it created a bizarre yet awesome mix of texture, and the sweetness of the panna cotta completes the sweetness of the dessert.
As an Australian steakhouse, Wooloomooloo definitely lives up to its name. And the way it modifies its menu to cater to Hong Kong people’s taste buds surely makes way for higher popularity.
