Do not confuse this restaurant with the “Rose Kitchen" which is actually the restaurant upstairs on the next level up. The staff was friendly enough and gave us an English menu, but we were disappointed to find out that we had to pay a lot more for drinks $20, unlike other restaurants. We were also a bit taken aback by the amount of dirt on the floor and table and even found a random hair on the table. The staff was friendly enough and gave us an English menu, but we were disappointed to find out that we had to pay a lot more for drinks $20, unlike other restaurants. We were also a bit taken aback by the amount of dirt on the floor and table and even found a random hair on the table. The silverware in the drawer also seemed questionable in regards to hygiene with the random specks on the cutlery.
The feel is like a truck diner or like the local "greasy spoon".
The steak, ham and sausage platter ended up to be a disappointment and left me feeling dissatisfied due to the look of it all and the fact that the sausage was merely a hot dog and the ham was a piece of luncheon meat.
The vegetable dish of choi sum that I ordered was average and fine - no complaints there.
The vegetable curry dish did not look good, but the taste was very good and spicy.
It was definitely an interesting experience and people who want a very local dining experience and an adventure are welcome to try this place out.
One good thing about the restaurant is that it has window seating a great view out the window on to the street so that you see outside and this also helps to brighten up the restaurant which otherwise might have a very dingy feel to it. The window seating and booths are also a plus.
