Nha Trang is all the buzz among expats and locals in Hong Kong and many of my colleagues order it at least once a week -- but as someone who grew up eating authentic Vietnamese cuisine, this a sad excuse for a Vietnamese restaurant. Their spring rolls are soggy, their noodle soups use the same broth -- no matter if it's a beef pho, chicken pho or bun bo hue -- and the vermicelli noodles are over cooked. Not only was the taste poor, but the prices are astronomical! With the recent price hike to $

Not only was the taste poor, but the prices are astronomical! With the recent price hike to $58 HKD for a bowl of pho, I felt like my wallet was raped.
I don't mind paying for good food - but paying so much for food that isn't even mediocre is a crime! I would never recommend anyone go there. If you want more authentic tasting Vietnamese cuisine, I highly recommend the Vietnamese stand in the Food Republic, 5th floor of Taikoo plaza -- just a five minute walk from Nha Trang. Their pho is not only more authentic -- but also much cheaper. Just $38 for a set meal -- a pho, a spring roll and vegetables.
Maybe Nha Trang can fool the expats and the locals with their over priced dishes -- but they're ain't no fooling someone who knows what Vietnamese food should taste like. This is just a disgrace.
