How fortunate that I didn't get call in to work today! This sudden day off led me to Main Street Deli, which I have visited before and had a great time, so when my sister suggested to have dinner here, I was looking forward to it. Environment & Hygiene:I LOVE LOVE the atmosphere of this place. I like that it is quiet even though it can be packed with people. Environment & Hygiene:
I LOVE LOVE the atmosphere of this place. I like that it is quiet even though it can be packed with people. I like the decor, the dark lighting, a kitchen I can see, and the location. It is just so comfortable to be in. Nothing unsanitary observed.
Service:Service was standard. Once we sat down, the dill pickles and pickled cabbage were brought to us immediately. Later, the food came out fairly quickly too. I think it took us longer to decide what to order than for the food to be served to us.
Taste & Value:The last time I visited, my sister and I shared a Cod Burger and a Pulled Pork Sandwich, which were both very good, but this time we wanted to try something new. Besides the great food, the Peanutbutter Milkshare ($78) is what brings me back. It is to DIE FOR! The PB is very protruding and the drink is not overly sweet. It is just amazing!I highly recommend it although it is a bit expensive!
The sandwiches we tried this time:1. The Reuben with Fries (Half $88)
This Reuben was corned beef, pastrami, turkey, sauerkraut, and swiss cheese between grilled rye bread. It was definitely a stuffed sandwich! Eating sauerkraut in a Reuben is the only way I can eat it, as it is bearable with the beef. Both the beef were tender, but the turkey was on the dry side. Also, the bread got soggy from sitting. Having said that, it was still a good sandwich. The fries were good too, and has a tasty mayo dip to complement them.
2. Herb Roast Pork and Honey Baked Ham with Yam fries (Half $88+ $8)This was the sandwich that my sister chose. This was pork roast, ham, cheese, pickles with chipotle mayo between an Italian sesame bun. Like the turkey in the Reuben, the pork was also dry. However, the thick stack of honey ham made up for it as it was very moist and juicy. It actually tasted like a ham grilled cheese. It was good. Their yam fries are also something worth trying; very good too.
Final Verdict:I still have a lot of sandwiches and burgers to try.
