NOT recommended - mediocre food, poor service

Visited Metropolitain last week with high hopes of a quaint French brasserie experience, and found the meal to be thoroughly disappointing.  Located up the hill on High St., the restaurant features kitchy decor, and the place gets extremely loud, making it hard to hear your dining companions or have any type of conversation.  The food is not authentic French and is mediocre at best -- some dishes like the escargot were underseasoned, while others like the tartare were overseasoned. Visited Metropolitain last week with high hopes of a quaint French brasserie experience, and found the meal to be thoroughly disappointing.  Located up the hill on High St., the restaurant features kitchy decor, and the place gets extremely loud, making it hard to hear your dining companions or have any type of conversation.  The food is not authentic French and is mediocre at best -- some dishes like the escargot were underseasoned, while others like the tartare were overseasoned. The service, in particular, was shockingly bad. Requests for things like bread plates were ignored, and the wait staff was surly, condescending and rude from the moment we sat down to the moment we left. An overall unpleasant experience.
