On a stormy Wednesday I made my way here alone. I have previously visited the Wan Chai branch with my parents but this was my first time in Mong Kok, (actually I had tried to visit the Sunday before but was turned away by the building's guard man who told me it wasn't open on a Sunday, I'm not sure if that's true or maybe the lifts weren't working as they were all being serviced). As a solo diner with a smallish stomach your options are reduced (I would have loved to have the fries lotus cakes bu

As a solo diner with a smallish stomach your options are reduced (I would have loved to have the fries lotus cakes but I couldn't have had a whole portion to myself), I opted for the signature tomato and potato dumplings in soup as I thought the combination sounded interesting. It was interesting although sadly not interesting in a way that I enjoyed, I didn't like the flavour of the tomato nor the smash-like texture of the potato. I am aware though that the problem was the dish I chose though and not the restaurant as I really enjoyed my previous visit.

As for the non-food elements, the service was efficient and uncomplicated. As this place is a social enterprise which hires predominantly hearing-impaired waiters the ordering experience for non-hearing-impaired people consists of pointing to the desired items on the menu and once the dishes have been ordered the waiter goes back through the order to check by pointing at the items you've ordered in the menu. This is pretty much how I order in restaurants anyway although with waiters here do it for everyone regardless of spoken language meaning that actually it all feels a lot more comfortable for me. As other reviewers have mentioned, the place is pretty noisy but that's just part of the experience in Hong Kong.
